Today there is are no "walls" around the Vatican except for the Pope's gardens and offices. As you approach St. Peter's there is a large square/plaza surrounded on both sides with columns/walkways. In Rome itself, very little of the ancient gates and walls still exist. I happen to have a picture of one of the few gates from ancient Rome.
I'd have to say about 20 meters (65 feet) on it's tallest areas, 10 meters (32 feet) on the areas with medium height and about 8 meters (26 feet) on it's shortest. hope it was helpful
Vatican "city" is not really a city. It is the offical headquarters of the Pope and the Catholic religion. It is the Holy See and is an independent city-state within the city of Rome. It is only 108.6 acres. The Vatican is enclosed within walls which join on the piazza. There are only 472 people who reside there.
No, it is not surrounded by walls. Sometimes the only thing that separates the Vatican from Rome is a white painted line.
