The book of Job is about good and evil, rewards and punishment, and why? why? why? Every single book of The Bible uses symbols and symbolism BUT be careful: take everything literally and at the same time use common sense, and if you have the time I recommend you go to a Bible on the Net and do a search in Job on "like" and "as": don't rely on what other people like me say, but do your own homework if you can. Jesus is not mentioned in the Book of Job, which was written before the time of Jesus. God is portrayed as proud, even arrogant. He is willing to instruct Satan to cause grievous harm to Job and his family, just to see how strong Job's faith is. When Job survives all these tests, God demands of him whether he thinks he is as good as God himself. He asks where Job was when he created the earth, whether Job thinks he knows as much as God, and whether he was capable of fighting the chaos monsters (leviathan) just as God had done.
