As far as we know, the first-century Romans preferred to ignore Jesus and Christianity, considering it merely a Jewish sect and any disputes with the Jews as just a dispute to be resolved by the Jews themselves.
However, the author of Matthew's Gospel seems to have known of the Jews saying that the body of Jesus was removed by the disciples, and pre-empts this with an addition to the resurrection account(Matthew 28:12-15):
"And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day."
