A:Paul, in his epistles, seems to have believed that the resurrection was a spiritual, not physical resurrection. When Paul spoke of Jesus being seen by Cephas and others, he seems not to have distinguished in any way between those appearances and the purely spiritual appearance to himself. Jesus rose to heaven.

Mark's Gospel, written soon after Paul's epistles and the earliest New Testament Gospel to be written, originally ended at verse 16:8, with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. This account seems to agree with Paul, since there was no mention of a physical resurrection. The 'Long Ending', which was added much later, more or less agrees with the other gospels and has the risen Jesus meet Mary Magdalene, then two of them on the road and finally the eleven as they sat at a meal, after which he was taken up into heaven.

Matthew's Gospel was next to be written. It says that Jesus met the women as they went to tell the disciples, then went into a mountain in Galilee where he met the disciples and commanded them to go forth to all nations and baptise.

The author of Luke's Gospel was unaware of what had been written in Matthew's Gospel and so gives us a different story. Jesus appeared first to two of them on the road to Emmaeus,

then to the eleven as they sat at a meal that evening in Jerusalem. He took the eleven out on the road to Bethany, where he ascended bodily to heaven. Acts of the Apostles, by the same author but written somewhat later, expands on this, saying that Jesus stayed on earth 40 days and then was taken bodily up to heaven near Jerusalem.

John's Gospel was loosely based on Luke, so bears some resemblance in its stories of the resurrection. Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene near the tomb, but she thought he was the gardener. He then appeared that evening to the eleven at a meal, and again 8 days later. Finally, Jesus appeared to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee.

ANSWER: I Corinthians 15: 1-8, written by Paul the apostle.

( vs. 3, "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures and that He was seen by

Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

Jesus the Christ was on earth 40 days appearing to many before He ascended into heaven.

The resurrection of Jesus was certainly not spiritual it was physical. Luke, a credible gospel writer wrote in Luke 24:36-43, " Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "peace to you. But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. And He said to them, Why are your troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to

them, "Have you any food here? So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence."
