How did the Boll Weevil get its name?

The boll weevil got it's name because it is a weevil, which is a type of beetle. It is called a boll weevil because it eats the bolls of young cotton plants along with the buds.

Are boll weevil eggs dangerous in flour?

The boll weevil does not get into flour products, it only eats cotton. The flour weevil however will get into flour and any flour found with them in it, should be discarded and not consumed.
