The proprietary government in the Bahamas was established in the 17th century as part of a colonial strategy to promote settlement and economic development in the islands. This system allowed private individuals, known as proprietors, to govern the territories, encouraging investment and the establishment of plantations. The proprietors were motivated by the potential for profit through agriculture and trade, particularly in lucrative crops like cotton and tobacco. I enjoy the Bahamas because of its diversity in islands and populations. The Bahamas has 700 islands and Cays and covers over 700 miles of territory. It has easy access to the US, Europe and Canada through international flights into Nassau and Grand Bahama. It has a variety of things to do for all ages. It has Atlantis watermark, which is fun for the kids. Nassau houses 70% of the population for the county and the out islands are sparsely populated. It is easy to feel like you are the only person on a cay if you go to one of the out islands. The water is really clear and clean and the blues that are seen are amazing. I have been to the Bahamas many times and I always find something different when I go.
I write a popular Caribbean Travel Blog (Miss Lone Star's Travels)and detail many of the features and attractions on the Bahamas as well as our voyage on our boat as we cruise through the Caribbean. We will like in the Bahamas for months, exploring all that it has to offer. I am a scuba diver and the Bahamas offers some of the most remote diving sites in the world, if one looks hard enough.
I plan to have a large wedding ceremony on one of the out islands while we are there and the pictures will be breathtaking! I think anyone should check this destination out and give it some thought.
