What is the relevance of the myth of Adam and Eve in modern society?

If you believe the story of Adam and Eve to be a myth then it has no relevance at all.

But if you believe the story to be true then it has great relevance.

Because the story tells how man's relationship with God, the creator and sustainer of life, was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Also everybody born since Adam and Eve is born without a relationship with God.

Who according to the bible was the third person alive after Adam and Eve?

Their children, Cain and Abel, followed by Seth.

Gen 4:1

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Gen 4:2

And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Gen 4:25

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, [said she], hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

How did the actions of Adam and Eve lead to the tragic state of humanity?

A:The Book of Genesis tells us that Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, thus becoming god-like themselves (Genesis 3:22: "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us..."), but also now aware of their mortality.

Augustine of Hippo (354-430) developed the concept of original sin, saying it resulted directly from the disobedience of Adam and Eve. He believed that original sin could only be removed by baptism, so without baptism, souls could not go to heaven.

In more recent times, Christian Churches have modified their doctrine of original sin. Moreover, major denominations no longer regard Adam and Eve as literally the first two humans on earth, living just a few thousand years ago. Perhaps a little ahead of his Church's official position, Cardinal George Pell, in a recent televised debate, said that the story of Adam and Eve is a myth - a religious story told for religious purposes. Adam and Eve can no longer be blamed for the state of humanity.

Is the Iraqi people and the Iranian people descendants of Adam and Eve?

If you believe that Adam and Eve were the first, then the answer should be yes. A priest/rabbi/witch doctor/etc might believe differently. If you approach it with a scientific mind set that perhaps they were real people (not necessarily the first) from the middle eastern area, from anywhere around 2000 B.C. or further back, and were able to populate well, then there genetics stand a very good chance of being many many different peoples ancestors, but more probably would be the area near where they inhabited. But that's all subjective, and more of a matter of opinion. If I asked you are the Greeks decedents of Zeus and Hera, how might you think to respond?

How old are Adam and Hava?

Depends what you mean and whom you ask.

  • If you mean Adam and Eve as in the Torah, 5771 years ago.
  • If you ask Christians, 6000-10000 years ago.
  • If you are talking about science and genetics. Scientists have studied the DNA contributed by women (Mitochondial DNA) to determine when the first "human" or "Mitochondrial Eve" had DNA which separated from the common ancestor of apes and humans, and have established a date. This is estimated to be some 170,000 years ago.

How was gods mercy manifested in the account of the fall?

How did Adam and Eve get here?

God created Adam in His image, and then God took one of Adam's ribs out and made Eve

How could Adam and Eve live so long and why do not people now?

Those who believe in the literal truth of the story of Adam and Eve say that they lived such improbably long lives because genetic defects had not yet developed in their DNA, so they had no reason to die young, as we do. This ignores the fact that most deaths, particularly in early times, were the result of injury and disease, for which supposed genetic perfection provides no defence. Nor does it explain why lifespans suddenly fell to normal levels just before historic times and failed to fall any further after that time.

Scientists say that our real ancestors, those they find in the fossil record, actually lived shorter lives than we do now.

Was God always perfect?

Yes it certainly is, since the one who made it is perfect. The problem with looking at the law of God is that those who look at it are imperfect and also limited in their understanding and so to them it doesn't always 'sit right'.

According to Hebrews chapter 8, the law of God is not perfect.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Hebrew 8:6-7

Types of offerings the bible?

Burnt offering, grain offering, peace offering, sin offering, guilt offering, and fellowship offering.

When Adam and Eve came to the earth?

According to The Bible, Adam & Eve did not 'come' to earth. Adam & Eve did not exist somewhere else. They did not even exist.

They were created right here on earth from the dust of the ground. And then God breathed into their nostrils the breath of life. And then the man became a living breathing person.

Genesis 2:7: "God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."(NIV)

Before Adam & Eve were created from the elements of the ground, they simply did not exist. There was no sign of them - at all - anywhere.

When they died, they returned from whence they came. They came from 'nothingness' - they returned to 'nothingness.' They did not go elsewhere; they did not go to heaven; they did not go to 'eternal torment'. They simply ceased to exist.

Genesis 3:19: "For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."

When did this all happen? According to the chronology records within the Bible, it seems to be approx 6,000 years or so ago (plus or minus a few years).

Why did Adam called her woman when she did not come from a mans womb?

Answer 1

...are you kidding me? pretty sure adam didn't speak engish

Answer 2

It makes more sense in Hebrew, the original language of the Bible. The word for man is "ish" (איש), the feminine ending is "ah" (הX), and Adam called Eve "woman" which is "ishah (אישה). The equivalent would be making a word feminine in a Romance language. It is not like English where it is unclear how "woman" is the feminine version of "man".

What was the result of Adam and Eves disobedience?

Actually Eve has fallen before she ate the forbidden fruit when she began listening and became sympathetic to the words of the serpent. The whisper of Satan had opened the realm and dimension of Eve's thinking to doubt God. Eve was trapped and she was possessed by her own curiosity to believe lies, and live in the world of make believe.
