How do you explain the differences between traditional and modern contemporary art?
the difference between traditional and contemporary art is...
With Traditional Art, a lot would be said about love peace beauty and tranquillity.
Contemporary Art on the other hand, will bring out pain , anger, distress and frustration.
The Baroque comes after the renaissance, i.e. late 16th century and most of the17th century.
The Baroque movement encompasses architecture, religious paintings, and sculpture. Painters used rich colors and chiaroscuro (credited to Caravaggio) in their works. The figures in the paintings were naturalistic and frequently sported exaggerated gestures. The style was very emotional, and the scenes selected for the work were usually important and dramatic biblical scenes. The use of light was important in the artwork; it enhanced the experience of the scene.
The most famous sculptor to come out of the Baroque period is without a doubt Bernini. His sculptures were extremely detailed. Bernini is arguably one of the most talented sculptors of all time because of the way he could manipulate the different textures of his subject in marble. He used large gestures that broke the plane of the sculpture to suggest drama and emotion. One of his most famous works is The Ecstasy of St. Theresa.
One fundamental change that the Baroque style brought along in architecture was the use of the oval. Famously, St. Peter's Square, is memorable for its long oval shape. Baroque design also emphasized the use of light.

Why did some archaeologists believe that early cave paintings of animals were meant to honor?
Nobody knows for sure why prehistoric people made cave paintings. It may have been a means of recording an eventful or successful hunt, or it may have been a way to get good luck on a hunt. Or perhaps, the paintings were just made for art. Most likely, the purpose of these paintings varied depending on the specific culture that made them.
The Enlightenment arrived in the early 18th century and attempted to apply Newton's Physics to all of life. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States were documents of the Enlightenment. At the same time this was happening, a number of people simply had to escape the new creations of the Industrial Revolution.
Then one man, Rousseau, assumed leadership of the movement. He praised the movement. He praised the out of doors. Getting in touch with feelings became important. He wrote down his ideas on education in a book called, "Emil." Those ideas are still used today. His concept was "The General Will." The name has changed to, "The Sense of the Group." His ideas turned into the French Revolution.
In England, the movement became literary with Wordsworth, Coleridge, Scott, Browning, and others leading the way.
In the United States, the movement became literary and Unitarian with the Transcendentalists such as Emerson, Alcott, and Thoreau, leading the movement.

Answer from Chris:
Romanticism provided a countertendency to neoclassical style during the war
that Naploeon instigated in Spain with Charles IV. It also showed originality
during the French Revolution stating that no author or painter should imitate
another. The artists at this time were fascinated by the strange and the
marvelous, and by dreams and the occult.
It's actually not possible to pinpoint one single movement that came after pop art. Firstly, because pop art is a label that could still be used for a number of contemporary artists, such as Jeff Koons. And secondly, art history is not a linear development that moves from one style to the next. Several styles or movements can exist at the same time. There is not one single, universally true answer to your question.

What are the major differences between Romanticism and Neoclassicism art?
Classicism and Naturalism were the two trends in Renaissance art. Naturalism is artwork based on direct observation of nature. Classicism is artwork created by using mathematics for pictorial composition: order, balance, stability, etc.
Realism can be defined as the situation where countries seek to control power through forceful means. It can also be defined as the process by which states can do what ever they can to ensure their survival in the international world even if it means resorting to war. Realism mostly revolves around anarchy. Realists are those who propound the theory of realism. They believe that for a country to mantain its interest, such country must resort to war. All states seek to control power. When power is not in one's hands, such people become restless and can do anything to ensure that other powers do not rise above them. A good example is the case of Russia's invasion of Afghanista in the the 1970s. This led America to elect Ronald Reagan as president and in other to prevent Russia's growing powers, he created the strategic defence initiative SDI which was able to send Russia into a state of oblivion.
Another example is the us/ussr cold war. Though they didn,t engage in physical battles with one another, they were just wary of one another because they were the only surviving world powers after ww2.
Thus, states struggle to protect their own interest and in the case of realism, feeble things such as diplomacy or negotiation makes no sense. War is the only thing that can brind true peace because man is percieved as innately greedy and selfish.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/move-over…About Basquiat art critic Robert Farris Thompson writes, " What identifies Jean-Michel Basquiat as a major artist is courage and full powers of self-transformation. That courage, meaning not being afraid to fail, transforms paralyzingly self-conscious 'predicaments of culture' into confident 'ecstasies of cultures recombined.' He had the guts, what is more, to confront New York art challenge number one: can you transform self and heritage into something new and named? (36)" Very little criticism has been done examining the work produced by Jean-Michel Basquiat. While his place in the history of American art is still under dispute, it cannot be denied that during the eight years that he painted, his much of his work examines the legacy of the colonial enterprise and his relationship to that legacy. Whether recasting the work of European masters like Leonardo Davinci in his own terms or recounting events from Haitian, Puerto Rican, African and African American history, Basquiat presented a vision of a fragmented self in search of an organizing principle. Now, ten years after his death, critics can revisit his work apart from the taint of the market-driven art boom of the 1980s. Perhaps some of the tools developed in the field of postcolonial studies will help to unlock some of the mysteries contained in the work of this fascinating and complex artist. Three of his works that rather overtly examine isssues of colonialism and the position of the post-colonial subject are reproduced below. * http://www.english.emory.edu/Bahri/Basquiat.html
What subjects you need to learn to become an artist?
All that is necessary is a willingness to express yourself, to familierize yourself with the tools of each medium, and aquire a basic grasp of the techniques used with each. A good basic knoweledge of anatomy isn't necessary for art but is handy in production of portraits, and similar studies. A knowledge of facial structure, or more importantly the ability to reproduce it from the subject is important , but again the demands can vary Not that portraits are limited to a realistic style alone, many free styles of painting, or abstract methods, can look little like the subject but be just what the purchaser wants. The same suggestions apply in Sculpture as well , The most important fact to remember is that unless the project that your contracting to do, is something like mural painting or portraits, or a project where specifics are defined, you are in a free universe of expression. your use of color or shading , or in sculpture structure, are always right. Art is one of the few things in life that allow such freedom, in this other larger portion of the world of art, you are never wrong in your finished piece. Art is an expression, and the expression of every individual is different in some wonderful way, your project, as long you find joy or satisfaction in it , will always be right.
