How much aspirin can you give a large breed dog?

DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG REGULAR ASPIRIN. Your dog can have BABY ASPIRIN, not adult aspirin, not Tylenol, not Advil, not Aleve or any generic form of these. I give my 10 lb dogs 1/2 a baby aspirin when needed (which has been prescribed by my vet initially). That is not to say that for every 10 lbs you should give a 1/2 a tab, you need to call your vet and ask dosage, there is not charge for that type of call with my vet so it really shouldn't be a problem for you. Please don't self medicate your dog. If there is something wrong with the dog then go to the vets. If the vet prescribes a certain medication for your dog that you can get at a drug store, then don't buy it at the vets. Go into the drug store and ask the pharmacist how much you would give for a 22 lb. dog. Many people do this because the drug store is cheaper for meds than the vets (in most cases) and pharmacist will treat your dog like a 22 lb. child. Absolutely! if you think there is something wrong with your dog take him/her to the vets.

Can you get higher mixing aspirin with Adderall?

I wouldn't considering phenylephrine does nothing good for you as far as CNS stimulation goes. You will just be jittery and uncomfortable.

Can a dog take aspirin and benadryl together?

I was taking Prednisone for a sinus infection (3 a day for two days then 2 for 2 days then one pill a day) and I take benadryl regularly for my allergies. I asked my doctor and he told me it would be fine to take Benadryl as well as prednisone.

Is it safe to give a 3 year old children's aspirin?

There are elixirs and tablet forumlations of Children's Aspirin which, as the name implies, are specially formulated for children. With aspirin, it's a good idea to check with your doctor before using it. If you can't do that, at least be sure to read the label and follow the recommended dosage.

H2SO4 in aspirin?

Yes.

^ Well to improve on this, in simple terms. A catalyst is something that brings on the reaction, in this case the liquid catalyst can only contain a little amount of water otherwise side reactions will occur and this would impact (reduce) the yield of aspirin - not good, sulfuric acid is usually used because it is 98% pure, phosphoric acid can also be used but it is only about 85% pure, still OK. HCL in its most concentrated form is only 37% pure and there fore no good at all.

In a shorter to the point answer, H2SO4 is a pure catalyst which will give you a close to accurate yield of aspirin.

Can you take aspirin if you are allergic to morphine?

Morphine is a pain killer. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory. Since most pain is caused by inflammation, ibuprofen is often considered a pain killer but really it isn't. For those who don't believe it, see an article in Pain Magazine, 1988 Aug;34(2):117-22 where ibuprofen is shown to have the same effect on non inflammatory pain as a placebo.

Both drugs can be taken together. My doctor even recommended to me that should the morphine sulfate tablets (10mg) he prescribed me be insufficient, I should take a supplementary dose of ibuprofen.

I'm currently recovering from an MRSA abcess in my abdomen. At first I thought it was a boil, and I was taking ibuprofin for the pain. It did nothing at all. After an alarming amount of growth over night, I went to the ER and had it sliced open, and began antibiotic treatment.

The first night back from the doc I only used the morphine tablet; It helped but it could have been much better. The second time, I threw in 600mg of ibuprofen with the dosage because the first morphine tablet had given me a headache and the doc had also told me to use that much if the morphing by itself didn't work; I couldn't feel even the slightest bit of pain.

If I ever end up in the ER with a morphing drip, I will be asking for ipuprofen at the same time. My personal experience is that they complement each other wonderfully.

As for potential liver damage, your doctor will know how much of each you can take at the same time without damaging the liver. It will depend on your personal history, genetics, and the dosages of each drug. I don't know about morphine, but ibuprofen is one of the safest drugs available if you are not allergic to it. There are no long term affects from an ibuprofen overdose. Chronic usage at a lower dose may be a different story.

Does dilaudid contain aspirin?

Norco is a pill containing hydrocodone bitartrate and APAP (acetaminophen, which is the chemical name for Tylenol). There is no aspirin in Norco.

If I am alergic to aspirin can i take mucinex?

Yes. Some over the counter medications actually contain both.

According to the Drugs.com (commercial website) "Drug Interactions Checker" (refer to the link, below), as of April 8, 2009, there are no known interaction issues between the two medications, Ibuprofen and Mucinex.

However, you should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining any medicines or medications, whether or not they were prescribed by your doctor.

Can you give a dog aspirin for sore muscles?

I crushed some up like baby powder and mixed it in with some soft food and my dog seemed to be just fine.

That is how I give my dog aspirin. He weighs 66lbs, so his dose is 330mg. (5-10mg per pound).

Will ibuprofen work like aspirin if you think your having a heart attack?

It's acceptable, but still isn't a solution. If you have heart attack symptoms you should go see a doctor as soon as possible. The pill you should take one of if you feel you are having a heart attack is an aspirin, (not Tylenol, not Ibuprofen), and you still need to get to a doctor immediately.

Can you take aspirin for hangover?

I don't recommend it. Tylenol and similar products contain acetaminophen. This combination is bad for your stomach, can cause ulcers over time and can cause general stomach ache. If you are trying to prevent a hangover headache use RU21 or the hangover pills that are available over-the-counter. It is best to wait at least 8 hours after drinking to take any pain relievers. - Actually, chronic alcoholists should take no more than 2 grams of paracetamol a day. For hangover, it should be okay to take 500 - 1000 milligrams of paracetamol (0.5 - 1.0 grams), in case of an otherwise healthy individual. This information is from a leaflet by the drug information center of Kuopio, Finland, and should therefore be accurate.

Who first made aspirin naturally and synthetically?

Aspirin is also known as acetylsalicylic acid is a natural drug. Salicylate-rich willow bark extract became recognized for its specific effects on fever, pain and inflammation in the mid-eighteenth century. By the nineteenth century pharmacists were experimenting with and prescribing a variety of chemicals related to salicylic acid, the active component of willow extract.

Can you take Tylenol aspirin and codine together?

The short answer is yes, but there is something terribly important that you need to check before you take them. Codeine is almost always dispensed in a tablet that also contains either acetaminophen (Tylenol) or aspirin. You need to know what is already in that codeine tablet so you don't take more of the same product. Even a small overdose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) can have serious consequences; please use it very carefully.

What are the uses of aspirin?

Buffered aspirin helps coat the stomach so the stomach does not get upset. The ASA (aspirin) portion remains the same, but because the coating is not fully gone until the tablet reaches the small intestine, very little of the compound is released in the stomach.

Unbuffered ASA can cause stomach lining irritation, ulcer, and if severe the ulcer can perforate--poke a hole through the stomach wall. All of these effects can cause stomach pain and interfere with appetite.

Is aspirin safe or unsafe?

asprin is used for medical reasons that can help in all sorts of ways.

Can you take percocet and 81 mg aspirin?

Low dose aspirin is given to maintain normal blood clotting and therefore protect against problems like a heart attack in people at risk. (Heart attack is caused by blockage of the arteries in your heart by a blood clot).

If you have high blood pressure and your doctor thinks you might have an extra risk she will recommend you take low-dose aspirin. However it is important to understand that it is not a treatment for high blood pressure - it is to reduce your cardiovascular risk.

Can you take aspirin and melatonin together?

Well, I was also wondering this because i have some pain in my right shoulderblade and I'm also a Chronic Insomniac. I experimented with it last night.

I took six (325mg) Aspirin and two (3mg) Melatonin capsules. As you can see, I'm still alive, so i don't see any harm in it.

Now, I'm not telling you to mix medicines, different people react differently. I had no problem with this but try at your own risk.

Does morphine contain aspirin?

Morphine by itself is a pure chemical compound, so morphine is only morphine. There are some medications that contain an opiate and aspirin. For example, Percodan® contains the opiate oxycodone combined with aspirin, however I am not aware of any medications containing both morphine and aspirin, but I can't swear there aren't any. The person who will know for sure is a licensed pharmacist. Just call a pharmacy or ask the pharmacist the next time you are at a store that has a pharmacy. (It is illegal for a pharmacy to be open without at least one licensed pharmacist on duty.)

If you are allergic to aspirin or if it messes up your stomach, then make sure that you tell your doctor and he/she will not prescribe any medicines with aspirin in them. If you have morphine or know where to get it without a prescription, then please don't do it! I'm not your daddy, but I hope that you will take my word on it - you do not want to become addicted to opiates or anything else. I've dealt with enough addicts and former addicts to know that someone addicted to opiates or meth or coke feel like they want to die when they are in full withdrawal because they feel absolutely horrible like you can't imagine for weeks before they even begin to not be so sick.

What good things does aspirin do?

Can you take ginger and aspirin together?

Aspirin is made by the reaction of salicylic acid with acetic an hydride what is the theoretical yield of aspirin if 85.0 grams of salicylic acid is treated with excess acetic an hydride?

Since salicylic acid is being reacted with excess acetic anhydride, salicylic acid is the limiting reactant of the reaction. The balanced equation of the reaction of salicylic acid and acetic anhydride indicates that their is a 1:1:1:1 ratio between every reactant and product. Based on this, it can be concluded that the moles of salicylic acid, if reacted entirely, will yield an equivalent amount of moles of aspirin. To find the theoretical yield, you must know the molecular weight of aspirin and salicylic acid. First, the amount of moles of salicylic acid must be calculated by dividing the gram amount of salicylic acid, which is 85 grams, and dividing it by its molecular weight, which is 138.12 grams per mole.

85.0/138.12= 0.615 moles of salicylic acid

This is the mole amount of salicylic acid as well as the theoretical mole amount of aspirin. To convert the mole amount of aspirin into grams, this figure be multiplied by the molecular weight of aspirin, which is 180.1598

0.615 x 180.1598 = 111 grams of aspirin (when rounded to 3 significant figures)

Can you take simvastatin with aspirin at the same time?

It is safe to take aspirin while you're taking Simvastatin for high cholesterol unless your doctor has advised you otherwise.

Can you give baby aspirin to a Jack Russell Terrier?

Yes, but they can overdose easily and it does build up in their system quickly. Try one baby or low dose aspirin for medium to moderate pain relief in dogs over 50lbs. Small dogs need much less and consult a vet ASAP to get approved canine pain relief.

See related links below. Yes, dogs can safely take aspirin for pain. It is especially effective for joint pain, since it's an anti inflammatory, as well as a pain med. The standard dose of aspirin for dogs is 10 - 35 mg per kg of body weight. For example, if your dog weighs 45 pounds, then its weight is approximately 15 kg. Therefore, the dosage for your dog would be 150 - 350 mg. A regular aspirin tablet is 325 mg so it could be given 1 aspirin every 8 - 12 hours. That would be the maximum dosage that the dog could be given, though it's better to first start out with the lowest dosage, and then work up if needed until you reach the lowest effective dose. Also, be sure to give the aspirin with food to help avoid stomach upset. Another note: if your dog has never taken aspirin, watch it closely after giving it the first dose to be sure there is no allergic reaction. Dogs, just as humans do, can experience serious allergic reactions to some meds.

Can aspirin be taken with Lidocaine?

This is a group called anesthetic's, lidocaine is a local anesthetic and local been it is injected in to the area of the wound usually combined with adrenalin to stop the nerves from firing and say for example you cut your self and it requires stitches the doctor will inject the local anesthetic around and in the area that is going to be stitched

this stops the nerve endings and nerve tissue to stop sending signals to the nervous system to the spinal cord and up in to the brain witch then tells you that you have damaged your self. Lidocaine is commonly used by dentists when they extract teeth so it localises the affected area. The adrenalin is to stem blood flow it causes the capillaries/blood vessels to contract so the doctor can see where the stitches are needed. Lidocaine is derived from cocaine for its ability to numb or dull pain receptors but it is produced synthetically and has no of the characteristics of the so called high of cocaine. If you were to be put to sleep the anesthetic term used would be a general anesthetic which is used to to coin a Fraze "knock you out". General anesthetics use fentanyl (and with gas) some times prescribed by your doctor in a patch which delivers it through the skin into the blood stream as with most general anesthetics they are opiate based so it can be used for chronic pain. hope this helps
