Most activations should happen within a few minutes of selecting your plan. If there are any questions around your account status or credit, there may be delays in activation. There have been some problems with activation over the past few days of release but AT&T says the problem is being corrected.

Let's take the voltage first. The exchange 'battery' (or CO if you are in the USA) is set between -48 to -55v depending on where you are in the world, and to some extent, the type of exchange you are connected to. The figure of -48v is not set in stone. No need to worry if it is above this.

This battery voltage drops the minute a telephone is taken off of hook. The exchange 'equipment' senses the current flowing and drops the voltage to around 9 to 11 volts. The On-hook voltage stems from a day of long lines, electro-mechanical switching and phones.

They next point is that in an idle state a telephone line has a NEGATIVE potential with the EARTH being positive. Take out a voltmeter and set it so you can measure 50v DC. Place the POSITIVE probe to a known good earth and the NEGATIVE probe to the A and then the B legs respectively. (Ring & Tip in the USA). You will measure 48-55 volts on one leg, and around 4v on the other in relation to earth. The exchange battery has it's positive terminal put to Earth. Why? Simple. Corrosion. Positive earth systems don't suffer from corrosion (caused in a similar way to electro plating) in the same fashion as negative earth systems. Something the telephone companies worked out a very long time ago.

i would assume it means your home telephone number that you might find in the telephone book and not a cell phone number you carry with you. and not the number you may have a fax machine on or if you have a home-based business phone number.

Nobody reports this as being potentially successful, and members of Tracphone discussion groups are unaware of this workaround.

In reality, TF chaingangs the SIM to that phone and the provider they choose in that locality, by zip code. SIM swaps, porting, even transfer of minutes and air time usually involve inputting codes into the phone given by Customer Service, and the first level of Customer Service usually follows a scripted pattern which too often does not resolve all the issues. If you have more than 1100 minutes to move, it will have to be elevated to another supervisory level.

TF does this because the phones are so inexpensive that resellers could basically purchase a significant number and then jailbreak them, eliminating their future profit selling their airtime. In most cases, the phones aren't leading edge technology - usually old models from manufacturers that are middle of the road in features. Buying a new one is cheaper than investing the average wage in hours it takes to get it done.

For example, a $40 purchase will get you a Double Minutes For Life phone, under $20, and a $19.99, 60 minute, 90 day airtime card. Combined with the start up minutes and time, you net 140 minutes, and 150 days air time. Two phone purchases a year totalling $80 just about cover all you need. 3G service runs $75 a month in comparison - on contract.

Tracphone leases airtime from ALL the major providers, Tracphone users rarely hang on long enough while moving to transition from one to another. It's a pay as you go phone service, not an unlimited plan. Treated that way, it's quite successful.

Considering the huge difference in service and models available, there really is no point in jailbreaking a Tracphone. It's like stealing an old used Yugo, it's practically it's own punishment.

Yes - you need to either get Orange to unlock it - or take it to a phone shop for them to do it (either way you'll pay a fee). Then get your Port Authorisation Code (PAC) from Orange and give it to O2. The PAC locks you to a specific network, and O2 will need it to lock your phone to their network.

Hope this helps anyone like myself that was trying to set the remote codes on a Yamaha Receiver remote for a Dynex TV. I have a 32" Dynex in a second viewing area that I wanted to control with the RAV367 remote from my Yamaha RX-V1800 AV Receiver. I went through dozens of codes gathered from numerous websites, all with no luck. I finally decided to try programing it directly remote to remote with Yamaha's "Programing codes from other remote controls" chapter on page 104 of the RX-V1800's owner's manual. To my delight it worked perfectly and I now have most of the remote commands I use most often. The only alteration I made was to use the "TV Mute" control button on the RAV367 to set the TV input from the Dynex remote while using the "TV Input" button on the RAV367 to control the HDMI input. Other than that slight alteration every function I normally used on the Dynex remote I can now control with the Yamaha remote. I hope this helps.

If you need to call someone really urgently and you have no phone, ask a friend maybe they have a phone or you could walk up to a pay phone. If you don't have any money just go up to a phone store or a shop (big brand shop like, Asda, Somerfield etc.) and ask if you can use your phone to call that person. x

The pension contract would dictate how the employees vest and whether or not you are entitled to any benefits. The only way would be to block text messaging. Then said person can't text you, for which you would get charged. Or, if you do use the service, you could add a text bundle, therefore not getting charged for each unsolicited text! Or if you have the number the texts are coming from, and it's just one certain number, you can have that number blocked.

Verizon and AT&T have different operating systems towards each other. Verizon Wireless is a CDMA network where AT&T is a GSM network. Therefore, switching all this over would be expensive and difficult. So, no.

Stop messing with it immediately. Only your service provider can provide you with your PUK. It is not on your box and it is not on the card that the SIM card was punched out of. The PUK is unique to each SIM card so nobody on here can give you one (well, I guess they can but it will not work) and if you put in an incorrect code 10 times you will "fry" the SIM card and will have to purchase a new one for around $25.00-$30.00. Call your service provider and explain that your phone is asking for the PUK and they will give it to you and will walk you through putting it in and getting your phone working again. I do know that AT&T also allows you to get your PUK on their website but I do not know if others do that or not.

Pay the termination fee other than that... Nothing. You can default the account and just not pay and leave but they will most likely send for info and account to a collection agency and take you to court.
