Why am I not covered for snowstorm damages after I switched insurance?

There are different coverages under an auto insurance policy like the liablity coverage,-(PPI) comprehensive coverage and collision. You switched the insurance and so the new car has only the coverage which you had opted for in your old car which might have been only the liablity - mandatory coverage. Thus technically you had insuracne coverage sufficent to abide to your state rules but your car was not covered for own damges of comprehnsive damage to the car. Hence the insurance company is saying that you do not have coverage. Please check your insurance coverage when you buy a new car and upgrade the same.

When should collision insurance be dropped on auto?

This is just my opinion but if the car is over 7 years old, or has a K.B.B value of less than 10,000 USD.

Unless of course its some sort of rare or luxury automobile then I can't judge when to get rid of it.

It also depends on how "accident prone" you are. If you tend to get into accidents alot (where you are at fault) then collision insurance might be a good thing to happen, but if you tend to only get into accidents that are other peoples' fault then....

What is the equation for car depreciation?

There are many ways you can calculate depreciation. If you're looking for answer to use for accounting or tax purposes, I'd advise you to check current laws - they might not have the best way to do it, but they have the legal way.

Here's what I've found to work best for my own planning:

V = C * (1 - D) ^ Y

Where:

V - current value

C - initial cost

D - % depreciation per year

Y - number of years owned

Example:

Car bought for $20,000.00 depreciates 18% per year, what is current value after 5 years?

C = 20,000.00

D = 18%

Y = 5

V = 20,000.00 * (1 - 0.18) ^ 5

V = 7,414.80

Answer: $7,414.80

If the primary owner is involved in an accident can the cosigner be held liable for personal or property damage?

I am not an attorney but to my understanding, yes they can!! The other party just has to prove your at fault. For instance, you co-signed which allowed the primary to get the vehicle which did the damage without you the primary couldn't of gotten the loan and therefore it is your fault. The only way you might not be at fault is if you are not named as a registered owner of the vehicle.

How do you calculate incurred claim ratio in motor insurance?

Who is at fault for insurance purposes if the driver you hit left the scene?

This is a strange question. I am not sure why any driver would leave the scene if it was clear that another person was at fault. Your question stated 'if the driver you hit', not the driver who hit you. The only reason I can imagine this would happen is if the other not-at-fault person did not want an encounter with the police department or to have any type of claim activity, even with YOUR carrier.

Are you sure you meant if the driver YOU hit left the scene?

I believe you probably did mean 'who will pay for the damages to your car if the driver that hit YOU left the scene." Is that what you meant? The other party may well be at fault, but if you do not have his insurance information or were not able to write down year, make, model and license plate number, you cannot find his insurance carrier and file a claim with them.

You can, however, invoke your own UM coverage, if you carry it on your policy. UM is Uninsured Motorist coverage and will 'step in' and provide the same coverage the at fault driver's carrier would have provided, if he had an in-force insurance policy. Also, if you have Collision Coverage, you can also use that. You will have to pay your deductible, and your insurance carrier will attempt to recover both their paid costs and your deductible, if the driver becomes known. If you have and use UMPD coverage, you will also have LOU/Loss of Use available to you. This provides for alternate transportation while your vehicle is non driveable. If you do not have UMPD, but do have Rental Reimbursement, it will be available to you, to provide alternate transportation. Should you use RR, you have a limited number of days available to you and a limited dollar amout; however, if circumstances allow LOU under UMPD coverage, you will be able to have the rental or other alternate transportation until your vehicle is repaired and fully functional.

How much is auto insurance for a girl?

The same as it is for a boy. Not neccesarily true. In the UK, teen and early twenty boys have the worst general accident record, therefore their insurance tends to be more expensive than any other category. Apart from that, insurance for a girl depends on how old she is, how long she has held her licence,the value of the car and how old it is, and whether she wants fully comprehensive insurance, or will be content with third party only, and which insurance company she tries. Wow, what a lot of factors!

What type of insurance should you obtain for a moving company?

All moving companies are required by federal law to offer two types of coverage: "full protection coverage" which is based on the total value of all your belongings. This usually works out to about 1 percent of the total value. This is useful in case any items are lost are damaged. You will get the full replacement cost of the item. The other type of coverage is called ""released value protection"" usually calculated at 60 cents a pound. You should make sure you understand the terms and conditions as some items may not be insured. You could also add additional coverage to insure your belongings through a third party insurance company. This type of insurance is called ""relocation insurance".
