The Blue Ridge Mountains are a range or "a physiographic province" within The Allegheny Mountains.The Blue Ridge Mountains begin in far north in central-eastern Pennsylvania as South Mountain at Carlisle, Pa. The Blue Ridge Mountains extend southward through parts of Maryland, Virginia (the Shenandoah National Park), West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, to Mt. Oglethorpe, Georgia, covering of 615 mi (990 km).
