How long do rats take to have babies?
The mother gerbil will be pregnant for about 3 weeks-1 month. Then she will have 3-10 babies. Separate the mother and the father when the mother is about to give birth. Telling if a mother gerbil is pregnant is pretty simple. In the beginning you will not be able to tell but after about 1-2 weeks you will see that she will get pretty bulky near her stomach but if you still can really tell then you can do the simple hand test. In the hand test all you have to do is gently put her on the palm of your hand and if her stomach lightly brushes the palm of your hand than she is pregnant.
BBY means before the battle of Yavin and ABY means after the battle of Yavin. It is a Bc/ Ad concept. For example anakins was born in 41.9 BBY and then died in 4 ABY.

How do you tell the sex of baby mice?
Once baby feeder mice are born, its practically impossible to tell the sex until they are atleast 10 days old. By that time, the baby mice will have matured enough to start forming their male and female parts. The females start forming 10 nipples on their under sides. The males won't really show much change until they reach atleast 5 weeks. As for older feeder mice the female should have 10 nipples, and their genitals will be close together. As for the male, he should have testicles and his genitals will be further apart.
My pet rat isn't eating what do I do?
It is likely that it is sick or it really doesn't like the food (that happened to one of my rats!). I would, however, take the rat to the vet or look up symptoms of respiratory disease (it is one of the most common diseases in rats). If the rat seems fine other than the lack of eating the rat food try giving it lettuce, tomatoes, ect to get it to eat but remember to never feed it citrus fruit.
They are not the same at all. The only similarity is that they are both rodents. Voles have larger heads and their ears and eyes are much smaller (their eyes are barely even visible!) Their tails are an inch long or shorter, they have short legs (to keep them low to protect themselves against predators) and they have different teeth. Voles target the garden more than any other rodent, and when interested in a plant, it will most certainly be doomed. They actually chew from the ROOT of the plant, so it will not recover.
Voles are bad climbers and will usually not enter homes, so no need to worry!
If you have voles around your home, PROTECT YOUR PLANTS! They love deep vegetation.
What kind of food do rats like to eat?
Hey There,
Rats enjoy tons of food, but although this list may look like rats can eat anything, they get sick from certain types of food, so check Google out before grabbing that can of Kidney Beans.
Rats can eat : Rat Mix, Apple (Seedless) , peanut butter (very little) ,Banana, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts (Only small amounts), Carrots, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Grapes, Kiwi, Lettuce (Small amounts), Mango, Parsley (good tonic), Peas, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato.
Rats should be introduced to a change in diet gradually. You should not feed your rat too much fruit and veggies as this can often lead to diarrhea.
You can feed these treats to your rat. Emphasis on treats. Only small amounts about once every week.
These treats are : Biscuits, Boiled Potatoes, Bread, Breakfast Cereals, Chicken (cooked) Cheese (small amounts. Is fattening.) , Currents , Dog Biscuits, Eggs (scrambled or boiled), Fish (cooked), Meal worms , Meat (cooked) Raisins, Sultanas, Toast.
I hope I've helped!
yes!
Mice cant see properly in the light and have to use their whiskars to make a visual image of their surroundings which is not clear.
Mice are nocturnal and can see easily in the dark they also like infra-red light.
Place your hand on the mouse so that the palm of your hand fits over it. If you are using your right hand, put your thumb on the left side of the mouse and your ring finger and little finger in the right. Lightly rest your index finger on the left mouse button and your middle finger on the right mouse button.
Of course they can, if they are injured. However, what you are seeing around you rat's eye is probably porphyrin. This stuff means your rat is sick (call the vet!) or stressed. If your rat is sick, CALL THE VET! If your rat is stressed, put the cage in a quiet envorment and maybe put a towel over it. If you want, you can play a heating pad set on LOW in one corner of the cage. Also, on top of all that, stressed rats LOVE baby food. Some will lick it right off you fingers!
If porphyrin priests call your vet.
Can you have rats and mice be in the same cage?
Mice as a rule are social creatures. Female mice can, and should, be kept in groups of at least three (that way if one dies, there will still be a pair to keep each other company).
Males, unfortunately, are too territorial and should be kept singly as pets.
Never keep males and females together unless you want, and are willing to care for and/or rehome, a LOT of babies.
Ensure they have a large cage to run around and explore in, as mice are generally very active, smart, and curious; and will get frustrated if kept in a tiny cage. A ten gallon tank, or wire cage of similar dimensions, is fine for three mice.
Yes they do. They actually eat our cat's food if you keep it in a cupboard. I'm looking for a fool proof way to keep our cat from starving. A tuba ware bin should fix the situation.
What type of cheese do mice like best?
Although mice eat cheese, they are herbivores, meaning their diet should consist of plant material, not cheese. If cheese is all they're offered, they will eat it, but their diet needs to be filled with plants, seeds, fruits, and grains.
What is the number of offspring a mouse can have?
The average litter size for a mouse is between 8-10 babies (or "pups"). The record though is 34 pups in one litter. Mice that have been bred for feeding snakes and other reptiles typically give birth to a higher number of pups, averaging between 12-15 pups in one litter.
Whole goats milk, fed to it via a fine tip paint brush. I feed my orphans every 2 hours around the clock, until they're full (They'll stop accepting the paint brush). Make sure you test the temperature of the milk first! It's hard work, but can very rewarding. Around 75% of hand raised babies will die, though, especially if you're inexperienced.
If you can, it's better to find a surrogate mouse mum with babies around the same age.
When does a young mouse stop taking milk from its mother?
Mouse when adult then he never suck his mothers milk. You cannot simply give these mice regular milk and expect them to live. Some animals digestive tracks are not strong enough to digest milk. You will most likely need to buy kitten formula and an eyedropper but if you can find something else that works better than feel free to feed the mice whatever you find.
If you find mice that have hair on them you can try to give them something to eat to see if they are still feeding on the mother. You can give them hamster food, cheese, lettuce or other veggies.
Well, the tipical first thing new mouse owners feed their new mouse is cheese.
Some cheese is deadly to mice because of high levels of salt, fat etc.
My mouse loved popcorn. Not butter, sweet, toffee or salted (although you might get away with salted) just plain popcorn. They also love not salted peanuts, monkey nuts any nuts really. Even me im nuts : D! Mixed hamster food is also good unfortunately though some hamster food makes stuff all of the vitamins into little green sticks-mice genallry wont eat them. No vegetables or fruit unless a rare treat. Most mice dont like citrus fruits but some seem to enjoy them, the best fruits would be apple, pear. Try putting a whole coconut (with a hole small enough for your mice to have to sqease into) in the cage but not for too long take it out after an hour or earlier if it eats too much. Take out the coconut white edible bit and leave the shell in. You may find your mouse eats it but hes just gnawing.
I fed the deer mice that I overwintered sunflower seeds, bird seed and pumpkin seeds (they really liked pumpkin seeds). I also provided them with hay that they sell in pet stores for rodents and rabbits.

Can mice swim up through toilets?

Can a pet mouse be scared to death?
Yes mice can be scared to death as one of my pet mice was scared to death when my cat got it. My cat got it out of its cage and shook it around , but i believe that the mouse died of shock before the cat harmed it.
