Should you put your pet turtle back in the wild?

No, your turtle will be used to being fed and die of starvation because it doesn't know how to hunt.

----------------------------

Not true ! ALL animals have a 'basic instinct' to survive. They will naturally seek out the food they're genetically programmed to eat (nothing to do with what they were fed in captivity)

Look at all those large pythons people have released into the Everglades in Florida - 99% of those will never have had to hunt for their own food before release - yet - they are obviously surviving !

Having said that - you should ONLY release a pet turtle back into the wild IF it can be released into the SAME environment it would NATURALLY be found in !

Is there anyway you can make your turtles tank quieter?

If the pump in your turtles tank is noisy - it either needs cleaning out - or there is a fault with the pump itself. If the filter is clogged with debris - the pump motor will have to work harder to push water thought it - making it labour, and creating noise. If the pump is old, it may have worn parts which are either vibrating or rubbing against each other - causing friction.

If it just needs the filter cleaned - get into the habit of doing basic cleaning duties once a week. Wash the filter out in a little of the tanks water (NOT fresh tap water - as this will kill off the bacteria in the filter sponge !) Do a partial water change every week - to keep the turtles accumulated waste down to a minimum. Remember to clean the rocks etc when you do that.

Filter pumps don't last forever and will need the whole unit replacing periodically.

Can a dented red slider egg still hatch?

It's amazing what reptile eggs can survive. Eggs may dent in if humidity is not high enough. They will dent in close to hatching time as well.

Badly caved in eggs with no room inside are probably dead--texture will clue you in on this as well, if they become hard, dry, and light.

They may also turn a variety of nasty colors and smell bad, if they are dead.

However, some moldy reptile eggs that do not have a decay odor will go on to hatch, so don't throw anything away until you're certain beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is dead.
