Have you checked the Contour.org web page and forums? Lots of great information out there for us Contour and Mystique owners. Need to jack up car on right side. Lay down under the car and look up at the belt. use a wrench or socket on the tensioner to get slack in the belt. Pull the belt off when you get enough slack. Get your new bel on all the pulleys and pull the tensioner back up and slip the new belt on.

The first thing you have to do is to be able to bend your hands completely backwards and be able to reach under the car while your arm is in the top Yes it can be that bad I just finished mine. First disconect the air intake boot and vacuum line off the intake next draw a diagram of the pullys and how the belt wraps around each one of the pullys because vw doesn't give you a diagram under the hood, at least mine didn't have one. Then take an adjustable wrench (cresent) and on the tensioner there is a tab sticking straight up place wrench on this and pull back to releave belt tension but don't slipoff the tab. Remove belt (thats the easy part) I found if you have a helping hand it is much easyer for install. Put the belt around all the upper pullys first have your helper pull the tensioner back and slip the belt on the bottom pully last i mean the power steering pully the one on the bottom closest to the front of the car. reinstall hoses. Good Luck I did the same thing this person did,except that I took my digtal camera and took a few pictures of how the belt went on and over the pulleys then printed the pictures out and then you had the pictures to go by when putting on the new belt.

I just spent 5 hours replacing mine and it was very tedious and difficult to do. I have a 2006 extended cab. Basically you will have to remove the cup holders between front seats and the center console (9 screws). Below you will find the amp that has 4 screws. The 2 screws towards the rear of the truck are easy, but its the front 2 screws that will drive you crazy. I improvised as i couldn't get the ratchet under the metal cover over the front of the amp that I found no way to remove after pulling a few dozen screws. I put duct tape on the the 7 mm ratchet so i could pull screws out by hand (it was possible but i have strong hands). Then you will have to remove the back piece of trim that holds the rear cup holders (total of 6 more screws). The only way to get the amp out is to slide it out it is to bend 1 of the metal flaps that the cup holders attach to. I was able to bend it back without a problem....This will be the easiest was as the only other option i saw was to unbolt the console to the frame and that is way overkill...Hope this helps, but if your not too mechanically proficient, then this is a job for a professional.-Dan

Depends on which engine it has. A Google Search with the term "1996 Pontiac Trans Am Specifications" will give you the answer. I'd say anywhere between 250-270 RWHP.....On a stock motor....like mentioned, Depends on if it is a stock Lt1 or not!!

The stock Lt1 has 275 or 285 hp to the crank depending on year. 93-95 has 275 while the 96-97 has 285. Check this link out

Remove the side fuse panels then un do the bolts from each side, 1 each, then pull out ashtray theres' two bolts in the back of that, two bolts in the top of the instrument panel, one bolt underneath the dimmer switch, one underneath the gear shift. Will need key in to pull shifter down to get it above the shifter, then on the side of dimmer switch you can disconnect,and relpace.

The belt has two sides. The smooth side goes against the smooth pulleys while the ribbed side goes against the grooved pulleys. There should also be a sticker somewhere under the hood in the engine compartment. If not then look at the belt routing before you get in and start taking things apart.

Change the oil and make sure you are using the exact weight oil as outlined in your ownwers manual. Also change the filter and use an AC/Delco filter.

Alright I used to work at mr.lube and when we change the oil sometimes the low oil light comes on and what you do is turn the key to accessory , press down on the gas to the floor 3 times , turn to off position and then restart. If that doesn't work then try the brake the same way. Don't turn your vehicle on completly though , just to accessory.

Yes...It's behind the passenger side glove box. Mine started to smell "Musty", so I got a can of stuff from the autoparts store that is made to remedy the problem. Follow instructions on the can. Spary some right on the filter itself while blower is circulating. Then spray some on the outside vents below the windshield. I did this 2 years ago and have had no problem since. If you want to be sure you got the right area for the filter, start the vehicle, turn on the airconditioning and make sure you are circulating cab air. Place a peice of paper near the area and if it starts to suck in like a vacuum cleaner, you got the right area. Make sure you hold on to the paper, because it is quite strong. Hope this helped.

There is no fuel reset button. Ford was the only car company to use that.

Where is the crankshaft sensor on a 2001 Silverado 5.3L 4wd Located? Passenger side of vehicle right behind the starter "you have to remove starter!" Raise vehicle and remove right front wheel, unbolt starter 13mm bolt, unbolt exhaust shield on manifold for better access, move the starter forward a little bit to gain access to crankshaft sensor, unbolt sensor (1 bolt and use long extension) wiggle side to side and pull out. Put the new sensor in place and reassemble (reverse steps). Maybe this will help someone else... The check engine error code 'P0336' which lead me to change sensor. Reasons the vehicle would start stalling/stumbling on the highway which leads to no steering, brake peddle hard etc. The engine cooled down a little and restart but if sensor completely fails no restart. Your Stranded! 123k miles on truck already so I replace 2 cats and all 4 HO2 sensors, run good now.

It's time for a new engine.

The oil pump is inside the oil pan of the engine for all Avalanche models 2002-2011, including the 5.3L and 8.1L gen III Vortec engines available in the 2003 model year. It sits down in the "sump" or the low spot where the oil accumulates after running through the engine.

There is a fuel cut controlled by the collision sensor(s). Did the airbags deploy? How hard did you "Bump" it with "another vehicle"? Even if airbags didn't deploy, collision sensor may shut down the fuel anyway. Any Check Engine Light? May have to reset computer or tow to a shop, unless you want to declare that accident with your insurance company...

The question is too vague. Is the glass broken, does the window get stuck half way, does the window fall down, is the motion jerky, is it manual or electric?

Most cars and trucks today have what is called a serpentine belt which runs most accessories.They are very dependable and usually easy to replace. To decide if your belt needs replacing, simply look at the grooved side of the belt to see if it is cracking badly. A couple of cracks every 3 inches is normal, but if you see cracks every 1-2 inches I would recommend that you replace it. On most cars and trucks the procedure is basically the same. First off, get the correct belt by bringing your cars VIN number to the parts store(located on your cars dashboard) the parts store may need it. If there are two choices, get them both so you can complete the repair. Once you have the correct belt, take a minute to review how the belt runs across the pulleys and also check to see if your car/ truck has a underhood diagram of belt routing in case you need it. In most cases you will need a socket wrench or breaker bar with either a 3/8" and /or 1/2" head on it and possibly a short extension. Some models may require a wrench of these similar sizes.Now that you are ready to go to work, you will need to find the spring loaded tensioner which is generally located near the top of the belt path; it usually has a shinny pulley on it. Look at the tensioner and insert the tool into it and apply opposing pressure to release the belt.Now, simply install the new belt making sure it fits into the grooves on all the pulleys. Start the car to check it and you are done and you saved yourelf some money!

Easy, open the hood. Look on the left side for the large fuse box. At the bottom edge there are two harnesses heading towards the center of the truck. The harness closest to the firewall, look for a green/white wire. Can't miss it, easy to find...or Look under the dash and locate the junction block next to the brake pedal. Pull that block down and on the back there's a green/white in the center plug. That's it....
