How do you change the ignition switch on a 1992 Camaro RS?
The switch is on the steering column about 18 inches up from the floor. There are 2 screws that hold it on,
Try cleaning the throttle body. Carbon usually builds up causing the idle air control valve to malfunction. Yes...as the previous answer says. Remove the large oval air housing from the intake and locate the "flapper" inside. This flapper i believe will be closed. Use your finger to flip it open and spray carb cleaner in there and use a rag to remove the black powder that's built up on the inside of the housing. Believe it or not but this slight build up causes the flapper thing to not close all the way! Don't spray a ton, you're only trying to clean where the flapper thing contacts the housing wall.
Why do your windshield wipers stay in the up position when turned off on your 2001 Gran Prix?
If your turning Ignition Key off while they are working, then 99.9% of cars will do that, because it was stopped in cycle mode, and then will continue when key is turned back on.
If they are staying up when you turn the switch off on directional lever. Then you most likely have a bad wiper motor, the Reset/Down mode in off cycle is gone.
They go, but can also be agrevated by leaving wipers in up position accross windshield during cold weather, freezing rain or snow will make them stick to glass, then when you start vehicle, the Motor tells them Go, But wipers say No! and can ruin wiper motor.
Always retract to off position, or fold out away from windshield when parked during bad weather.
The wipers on my 02 Grand Prix would work perfectly but when turned off, they would "rest" in the vertical, or up, position. I took the wiper arms off, and the plastic cowling under the windshield. Took the plastic cover off of the motor and saw that the metal tab on the mount was bent. I bent the tab back towards the motor so as the cam spun, it would catch that tab. I wasn't real confident that it would work but it did. I'm glad I didn't waste my money to buy a new motor.

What is the automatic transmission fluid capacity for a 1996 camaro RS?

How do you put sport mode on in 2010 camaro v6?
Just slide the gear shifter into the "M" position and you''re in sport mode. The car will still shift automatically, but it does so at a much higher RPM. If you press a tap shift button, you will enter "manual" mode and you'll have to do all the upshifts yourself.
the ses light flashing indicates a "catalist damaging misfire". basically telling you to avoid further damage, Stop what you are doing. form the basic sounds of your problem I would first start be checking DTC's check the ignition system plugs, wires, cylinder ballance test, and check the fuel system, fuel pressure and flow, fuel filter, injector ballance test.
::: EDIT :::
ok before you do all that do yourself a favor you'll save a huge headache and alot of time and probably money too. its a quick 10-20 mins max way to rule out a common issue.
first let the car warm up a little (190 degrees or more)
next locate the plug for the mass airflow sensor and disconnect it (on the throttle body two bolts positioned from eachother, wide flat harness)
start the engine and go for a drive if you notice any sort of improvement replace or at least clean the mass airflow sensor.
basically what this does is bypasses the sensor and makes the computer adjust air, fuel, timing, etc. based on what the other sensors are reading. but just to warn you the car may still start to die when you come to a stop but shouldn't cut off if this does nothing to help the problem then investigate further
Why would the low beams not work on a 1991 Dodge Dynasty if the high-beam headlights do work?

What is faster a Chevrolet camaro rs or a ss?
ss is the best you can get
Depends on year. 93-97 the SS was VERY VERYslightlyfaster but a CAI on the z28 negates that advantage quite easily.
98-02 there was ZERO differencesin the performance of a Z28 vs SS.
2010+ The RS is a 6 cylinder car and the SS is the 8 cylinder performance version. In these years the SS will blow the doors off an RS.
Can you swap 454 big block in a 93-02 camaro?
yes you can you will need new motor mounts and if its a auto then it would be best with a stall..i would also run with a big block ram jet intake and ls1 throttle body and for the distributed i would run a newer like 98 style cap where the plugs go outward not up ward
Yes it will. The 700R4 uses a control cable that attaches to the carb linkage for shift points and shift pressures. Do not confuse this with a "kick down" cable because it is totally different. A good transmission shop can reconfigure the 700R4 to work without the electrical control harness that it required in the Camaro. The great point of the 700R4 is that it has a first gear that is about 25% lower than a turbo 400 and has the overdrive. You get quicker take offs and better highway mileage. Be sure to talk to a reputable transmission shop and get their input as well, but I can tell you that it will be the best move you can make. Good luck.
Will a 3800 Buick Series II engine fit a Camaro 1995 with the 3800 Series II engine?
i would imagine it could, but not without alot of work, the Buick engine is fwd while the camaro is rwd, you would need a whole different transmission at the least.
How to change a oil pan in a ford f150 4x4?
The first thing that you have to known is that this job requires that the engine motor mounts be lossened and the engine raised. If you think you can handle this part trhe rest is easy.
What psi of oil pressure is suggested on a 350 engine at idle and cruising speed?
If everything is working properly, the oil pressure will be controlled by a "bypass" valve inside the engine. Once the oil pump builds enough pressure, any additional volume is "dumped" back into the crankcase so that the oil lines don't build up too much pressure and damage the bearings and oil pump.
When the engine is cold, you should see the MAXIMUM oil pressure. Start the engine, watch the oil pressure and see where it goes. The needle will rise rapidly until the bypass valve starts dumping excess oil. Wherever the needle stops, that's your normal oil pressure. Usually it's somewhere in the middle of the gauge, 40 to 60 psi, but the exact number isn't critical. What's important is keeping it in that range... wherever the bypass takes over. If the engine warms up and the oil pressure starts to go down, you have worn bearings. That's the most common reason for a loss of oil pressure in the 350 engine. It's a great old engine, as tough as they get. If the oil pressure is starting to go down when the engine is warm, just change to a heavier grade oil at your next oil change. If you've been using 5W15, change to 10W30 or even heavier. That will help you get a lot more life out of the engine. The thicker oil will keep the worn bearings lubricated better and help the engine last longer.
What does the word Camaro translate in spanish?
Finally, the car was introduced to the press as the Camaro, considered to be a good name because nobody knew what it meant. Chevrolet produced an old French dictionary showing that the word meant "friend" or "companion", but Ford found an alternate meaning in an old Spanish dictionary-"a small, shrimp-like creature."The automotive press had a good laugh over that, and an even bigger one when one journalist found yet another meaning-"loose bowels." It didn't take long for the laughter to stop after the introduction of the stunning 1967 Camaro!
How do you replace a water pump hose?
While all vehicle water pump hoses are replaced "basically" the same way there are different ways of removing them.
First, be sure to allow the vehicle to cool down before attempting to remove a hose of you will get burned.
If the lower hose is being replaced you must first drain the radiator completly so be sure to use some kind of container to capture the anti freeze, even if your nor going to re-use it. Of course if the lower hose blew out while driving, your radiator will already be empty.
If the upper hose is being replaced you still have to remove some of the antifreeze, to below the level of the hose.
Be sure to have some rags on hand to soak up any spilled antifreeze
After the vehicle has cooled down, carefully remove the radiator cap, drain the radiator as needed, remove the hose clamps, grab and twist the hoses close to the mounting point to remove. Sometimes the hoses need a little coaxing so be patient.
Place the clamps on the new hose, being sure they are loose. If the removed clamps are old I would suggest replacing them with new ones. Install new hose and tighten the clamps.
Be sure to refill the radiator !
Start the motor and check for leaks. If needed, retighten the clamps. Drive for a few minutes and re-check for leaks.
Could be a bad started bendix or problems with the flywheel, or just a loose started.
