How do you change a rear door lock actuator on a 1999 Chevy suburban?
Hire a professional technician!
Hire a professional technician!
From BLUESTG: All the door lock actuators are the same. They are labeled front, back, left, and right for the bracket that is put on them to attach it to the door. So you can buy any door actuator and just reuse the bracket in you current door. Just remove the rear door panel, it is held in place by plastic push in pins. So you may have to pry it a little to get it off. Reach up a pull out the connecting rod from actuator to the lock. Drill out the two rivits. Lower acturator and disconnect the wiring. Transfer bracket to new actuator. Connect wiring. install with new rivits, but I recomend short screws. The rivits tend to elongate after a lot of actuations. Attach rod from the lock. Test, and push on the door cover.
Were can you buy a scan tool for a 1996 350 suburban?
1996 is the year that most automobile manufacturers converted from OBD I (On Board Diagnostic I) codes to OBD II codes. There are 'code scan tools' and 'engine scan tools', the difference being that codes scan tools can read the OBD codes from the vehicle and erase them, and engine scan tools do the above, in addition to read live data from all of the sensors while the engine is running. These latter tools are more expensive, but depending on the type of work that you plan on doing, you need to choose which type of scan tool that you need. I just bought an Actron CP9175 at Sears yesterday for $79.99 ($50 off) which is a code scan tool that reads OBD II codes only. The more expensive engine scanning tools often read both OBD I and OBD II codes. Sears has these tools online, as well.
Where is Diagnostic port location on 1994 Chevrolet suburban 350?
It should be to the right of the emergency brake release handle or hood release handle, But tucked up under the bottom of the dash.
Will a transmission from a 2002 Tahoe fit in a 2003 Tahoe?
Yes, it will fit perfectly. Both years used the GM 4L60-E transmission.
Why is my driver's side window getting stuck halfway down in my 1999 Chevy Suburban?
There are two possible conditions this question is describing. The first is that the window is seized and inoperable at the middle down position. The second is the window will go no further than middle. In the first it is a sign of a failed motor or regulator. In the second it is possibly an obstruction of the motor arms or window guides. Disassembly of the door panel to access and diagnose will be required.

Can you put a 350 or 400 crank in a 305 if so what ci would the motor be?
350 and 305 cranks have the same stroke (3.48") so putting a 350 crank into a 305 won't change the ci at all. A 400 crank has a 3.75" stroke, so using that crank in a 305 would make a 329 ci engine.
However, in either case you'd have to have the crank re-balanced to work with the lighter 305 pistons. In the case of the 400, the crank journals are larger (2.65") so they'd have to be machined down to 2.45" to fit in a 305 (or 350).
A machine shop can do that work (turning down the journals and balancing the crank) but you can also buy reasonably priced aftermarket 3.75" stroke cranks from companies like Scat and Eagle that are made to fit the 305 (actually the 350, but there's no difference in terms of aftermarket cranks) right out of the box. But even in those cases you'd still need to have the crank balanced for your pistons and rotating assembly.
I have a 336 ci engine that started life as a 305, but now has a 3.75" stroke crank (same as a 400) and 3.776" pistons. It's not a cheap way to get cubic inches, but if you already have a 305 block and are insistent on making the most of it for whatever reason, it can be made into a nice engine. I did A LOT of work on my heads (aluminum Trick Flows) to maximize them to work with the 3.776" bore. The 305 has a small bore - it can work for performance, but you have to know your stuff and do your research.
How many airbag sensors are on a 2005 suburban?
There are four airbag sensors in a 2005 Suburban. There are two under each seat, and two at the bottom of the radiator supports, under the hood. They are yellow tags that are visual.
This sounds like the rear differential requires an oil change. A groaning noise is generated by the limited slip discs when the oil has broken down after many miles and can no longer lubricate them properly. Honda recommends changing the diff oil every 48,000 miles or whenever you get this noise when making sharp turns. It is easy to change and took me less than 20 minutes. There are two plugs that have to be unscrewed on the diff. The bottom plug drains the oil and is then replaced. You then fill through the top plug until the oil begins to overflow. Then close this plug. the dealer will tell you how much oil is required. You MUST use the special Honda diff oil as it has a unique formulation. It's not very expensive either.
Pulling the steering wheel too hard can make a completely different "hissing" or chugging noise from under the hood. This is the power steering unit and is normal if you force the steering wheel.
A worn, front constant velocity (CV) joint will again make a completely different noise. It will make a clackety-clackety-clack noise.
How do you change a left turn signal on a 97 surburban?

How do you bypass the factory amplifier on a 2001 suburban and where is the amp located?
I'm not sure how to bypass the amplifier, but it is located behind the glove box. There are two harnesses that connect it to the radio. The bottom harness is removed by squeezing the ears and pulling off. The upper harness' release is on the rear facing side and is more difficult to operate. I used a small box-end wrench to take off the mounting bracket, then you can pull the amplifier out and turn it to see the clip.
How much horsepower is in a 1989 350 motor?
Depends on what model it was installed in. Truck, Camaro, Corvette? The Camaro IROC & Corvette 5.7 TPI V8 had 240 bhp.
When accelerating the ac air switches from the front to the defrost whats wrong?
In most cars the duct selection controller is vacuum pressure actuated. There is an apparent problem with the selector diaphragm. When you accelerate you create more vacuum pressure that overwhelms the diaphragm and hence the duct change. It may be as simple as a leaky hose in the dash. Most systems default to the defrost vents in the case of vacuum failure.
To sum it up, it is a vacuum problem.

There is a noid light that will check injector pulses from the distributor. It plugs into the injector plug. Most common failure for inop injector is in the distributor module. Also check fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is operating correctly. It should come on for 2-3 seconds when ignition key is turned to run. Chevy guy denver
On the passenger side kick panel is a blue cable. Un hook your battery, then unplug this wire. Rehook up ypur battery and you are good to go.
Many crown Victoria police interceptors have the "dark car" option enabled. When a door is opened, the domelight will not illuminate, but the overhead interior light will operate when the headlight switch is pushed in to turn on the domelight. At first, I thought the stealthy "dark car" option was a neat feature, but it quickly became an annoyance after a couple of weeks. If you're observant, you'll notice that the car does know when the drivers door is open because the key in ignition buzzer engages when keys are in ignition and drivers door is opened, and it also enages if the headlights are left on and the drivers door is opened.
To re-enable the domelights to turn on when a door is opened, separate the blue male and female single wire connectors on the passengers side of the car under the glove box. Then disconnect the negative terminal from the car's battery, leave it disconnected for a couple minutes, and reconnect. The "dark car" option should now be disabled.
Note: A pair of pliers may be useful to separate the connectors, they can be very stubborn and not want to pull apart from one another easily. If you get desperate, cutting the single black wire running out of the connector will work as well. Make sure to tape up the exposed ends if you choose this route.
Also note that it if the vehicle's battery is not disconnected after the dark mode connectors are separated, the LCM will typically exit dark mode too. But it will take countless door open/close events until the domelight mysteriously springs to life. And even this will vary depending on which software version your lighting computer runs on.
It is also possible to refresh the LCM's keep alive memory by pulling fuses instead of disconnecting the battery, but the power distribution systems varies in crown vics depending on model year and the LCM is also fed off of a couple different circuits. So you'd have to pull more than one fuse, and which fuses to pull would also vary. Hence, the suggestion to disconnect the vehicles battery which effectively removes all the fuses in one quick step.
This article is only relevant to 1995 and later crown Victoria police interceptors, the connector in question is not present on earlier vehicles. 1994 and prior crown vics use a conventional parallel/series wiring setup for domelight illumination. 1995 and later ones use a lighting control module and the domelights can be disabled by grounding one of the LCM pins when it is not desirable for the courtesy lights to illuminate when a door is opened.
Note: Instead of conventional pin switches on the door jamb, 1995 and later crown vics use a door ajar switch located inside the door on top of the latch mechanism. Is not uncommon for these switches to fail and short to ground, so domelight illuminates constantly and will not shut off. Also, some police departments cut the wire running to the drivers door ajar switch since this disables the key in ignition buzzer and parking light reminder buzzer.
A few crown vic owners have asked how to retrofit the dark car option onto their civilian models. Below are a few solutions:
Is a side mounted adjustable rear sight stock or aftermarket on a turn of the century model 94?
Possible it was a special order, but, most likely aftermarket.
How do you fix a driver's side backdoor that won't open on a 1992 suburban?
To fix a driver's side backdoor that won't open on a 1992 Suburban, first check the door latch mechanism for any obstructions or damage. Remove the interior panel to access the latch and cable, inspecting for any broken components. If the latch is stuck, lubricate it with a penetrating oil. If the cable is broken or disconnected, replace or reattach it to restore functionality.
