Dental Hygiene is a two year Associate of Applied Science degree. That being said, the program will take two years to complete once the student enters the professional phase of the program. How long it takes to get to the professional phase is another question. In general, Dental Hygiene is a competitive program with more applicants than seats available. Thus, most all institutions who offer this program have in place some type of selection process. There will be usually prerequisites to complete with a GPA particular to that program and school. Some prerequisites may include, English Composition, General psychology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, and Chemistry for Allied Health. In addition, some schools might require some type of written test. Students are then ranked according to their GPA, test results, along with other criteria as required particular to a selection of best fit according to the institution. Whether a BA or BS, the degree category does not determine salary. It depends on the field, your position within that field, your expertise, abilities, critical thinking skills, and your dedication, determination, and passion for what you do. Lastly, if you pick a career path solely based on salary, you will be sorely disappointed.

Within the United States, to become a dentist means a doctorate degree. Most students have a bachelor's degree prior to beginning their dental program. a bachelor's degree The way I understand it goes like this.... High School Graduate. Associate Degree. Bachelor's Degree. Master's Degree. Philosophy Degree. (PHD) After you specialize in ONE field, you get degrees in other subject matter. I can get a PHD in science, then retrain in botany. Or you can pursue several fields at once, but the study is way too intense to graduate, unless you are severely dedicated. Education limits you to one or two fields of study/expertise. The reason is.... High School Degree takes 12 years. Associate's Degree takes 2. Bachelor's Degree takes 4. Master's Degree takes 2. PHD takes 4. For each course of study mind you. If you graduate at 17-18, and you take 12 years to specialize in one field, you are now 29-30. Add 12 to specialize in another field, and you are 41-42. It kinda denotes a commitment to education, and very little free time to live your life. Hope it helps. Peace.

I say this with tongue in cheek because so many policies have changed within the field of education. That being said, a bachelors degree in education with teacher certification gives you the necessary credentials in securing a job in education. However, in most school districts they are now requiring a Bachelors plus. In other words, they are pushing educators to pursue their Masters degree. Thus, if you are a teacher, you will have to get that Masters anyway (sooner or later). Why not start on it now. The Masters degree will also be necessary if promotion to higher levels within education is a concern. I am in higher education, and to get a job today within middle management, or teaching requires a Masters degree. The higher the degree the more marketable you will become. Most all institutions are now pushing individuals towards the Masters degree. It would be to your advantage if you plan on a career in education.

The Office of the Registrar at the institution the individual stated they graduated from will validate graduation information to employers. If you are not an employer, you can contact the Alumni Association at the school the individual stated they graduated from. They keep a list of individuals who have graduated.

In my experience, a student must have at least 60 semester hours prior to classification as a Junior, but this varies for each institution and major. For example, if you were in a Nursing progam, they may require you to complete additional requirements prior to becoming a Junior. Example: You must take an additional Science and Labm, giving you 64 credits rather than 60. I've seen this requirement be as high as 72 for specialized programs. A Senior is generally 90+ credits (30 credits per year)

Medicine covers a wide range of possibilities. Once you identify the specific occupation you can research the information in terms of universities that offer the program leading to that occupation.

There is no standardized best minor when business is your major field of study. The best minor is the one that helps you achieve your overall career goals and objectives in good form. I have a cousin who pursued a career as a corporate lawyer. He chose philosophy as a minor, because he felt it would help him to think of issues in new ways, which in turn would help him present his case in a better fashion. It worked very well for him. I am a firm believer that your minor - if you so choose to pick one - should supplement and enhance your primary major.

Philosophy is also really going to help you, but maybe just take greek history as part of int. bus. degree unless that is truly what you're into.

Several schools in the United States (as well as abroad) offer 3 year Bachelors Degree programs, including: Hudson College in Alabama, Manchester College in Indiana, Seattle University in Washington State, Upper Iowa University in Iowa, Waldorf College in Iowa, Hartwick College in New York, Bates College in Maine, and Ball State University in Indiana. Purdue University's College of Technology in Indiana currently offers a 2 year bachelor's degree program as well.
