What is the best college to attend for neurology?
University of California - San Francisco has a great neuroscience program. UCSD @ La Jolla is fantastic with Scripps. Stanford as well. California has the advantage of money for stem cell research, if that's your interest. Harvard and Yale have good programs, but I would go with a school in California. University of California - Irvine, has one of the best undergraduate Neurobiology and Behavior programs with a fantastic upper division laboratory that you would be hard pressed to find something better elsewhere. Northwestern has a good program as well.
What does landscape architect pay?
Entry level graduates can expect to earn $30,000-$50,000/year depending on geographical location and the type of company. (example: private LA firm, multidisciplinary firm, municipal planning office, national park service, etc) Upon receiving licensure as a landscape architect, one can expect a substantial pay increase as your billable rate can increase as much as 50%.
Mid to senior level licensed landscape architects with 10-20 years experience can earn $60,000-$120,000 again, depending on geography and size of company. Earning potential can be much greater than this as an owner/principal of a private landscape architecture or multidisciplinary firm.
How much education years are required for being a dental assistant?
Many assistants learn their skills on the job, although an increasing number are trained in dental-assisting programs offered by community and junior colleges, trade schools, technical institutes, or the Armed Forces. Education and training. High school students interested in a career as a dental assistant should take courses in biology, chemistry, health, and office practices. For those wishing to pursue further education, the Commission on Dental Accreditation within the American Dental Association (ADA) approved 269 dental-assisting training programs in 2006. Programs include classroom, laboratory, and preclinical instruction in dental-assisting skills and related theory. In addition, students gain practical experience in dental schools, clinics, or dental offices. Most programs take 1 year or less to complete and lead to a certificate or diploma. Two-year programs offered in community and junior colleges lead to an associate degree. All programs require a high school diploma or its equivalent, and some require science or computer-related courses for admission. A number of private vocational schools offer 4- to 6-month courses in dental assisting, but the Commission on Dental Accreditation does not accredit these programs. A large number of dental assistants learn through on-the-job training. In these situations, the employing dentist or other dental assistants in the dental office teach the new assistant dental terminology, the names of the instruments, how to perform daily duties, how to interact with patients, and other things necessary to help keep the dental office running smoothly. While some things can be picked up easily, it may be a few months before new dental assistants are completely knowledgeable about their duties and comfortable doing all of their tasks without assistance. A period of on-the-job training is often required even for those that have completed a dental-assisting program or have some previous experience. Different dentists may have their own styles of doing things that need to be learned before an assistant can be comfortable working with them. Office-specific information, such as where files are kept, will need to be learned at each new job. Also, as dental technology changes, dental assistants need to stay familiar with the tools and procedures that they will be using or helping dentists to use. On-the-job training is often sufficient to keep assistants up-to-date on these matters. Licensure. Most States regulate the duties that dental assistants are allowed to perform. Some States require licensure or registration, which may include passing a written or practical examination. There are a variety of schools offering courses-approximately 10 to 12 months in length-that meet their State's requirements. Other States require dental assistants to complete State-approved education courses of 4 to 12 hours in length. Some States offer registration of other dental assisting credentials with little or no education required. Some States require continuing education to maintain licensure or registration. A few States allow dental assistants to perform any function delegated to them by the dentist. Individual States have adopted different standards for dental assistants who perform certain advanced duties. In some States, for example, dental assistants who perform radiological procedures must complete additional training. Completion of the Radiation Health and Safety examination offered by Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) meets the standards in more than 30 States. Some States require completion of a State-approved course in radiology as well. Certification and other qualifications. Certification is available through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and is recognized or required in more than 30 States. Certification is an acknowledgment of an assistant's qualifications and professional competence and may be an asset when one is seeking employment. Candidates may qualify to take the DANB certification examination by graduating from an ADA-accredited dental assisting education program or by having 2 years of full-time, or 4 years of part-time, experience as a dental assistant. In addition, applicants must have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. For annual recertification, individuals must earn continuing education credits. Other organizations offer registration, most often at the State level. Dental assistants must be a second pair of hands for a dentist; therefore, dentists look for people who are reliable, work well with others, and have good manual dexterity. Advancement. Without further education, advancement opportunities are limited. Some dental assistants become office managers, dental-assisting instructors, dental product sales representatives, or insurance claims processors for dental insurance companies. Others go back to school to become dental hygienists. For many, this entry-level occupation provides basic training and experience and serves as a steppingstone to more highly skilled and higher paying jobs.

Do I need an associates or bachelor's degree to become a teacher in Mississippi?
To teach within the public school system, you must have a bachelor's degree from a teacher education program and state teacher certification. There is an alternative route for individuals who have a bachelor's degree without certification, but it still requires a bachelor's degree. This takes approximately four years to complete as a full-time student, provided the student takes the degree as prescribed by the college or university. With 60 college credits, you can teach as a substitute.
Is university better than college?
Well college is normally near-by to your house, or in your secondary school. Uni is far away like in Manchester or Oxford. University is harder but fun because you get a good treat in the end.
A university does not need to be far away, a university is a school that offers a graduate program in most studies. Also it is funded by the state. A college is like a private school. Like in RI there is the University of Rhode Island which is paid for by the state. Also we have PC which is a private college.
--added a university is made up of colleges. example, the university may contain a college of fine arts, a college of health sciences, etc, etc. deans are in charge of each college. in a traditional college, they are split up into departments. example, psychology department, math department, etc, etc. and a head of the department is in charge of each. which is better? i don't know, but it seems a university is more complicated because it contains different colleges.
Major differences between a community college and University?
An University is an institution for higher learning with teaching and research facilities made up of a Graduate School and other Professional Schools that award Master's degrees and Doctorates and an Undergraduate division that awards Bachelor's degrees. Most Universities require four (4) years to attain a Bachelor's degree, an additional two (2) years to attain a Master's degree and another year ot two to attain a Doctorate. These time frames are general and can vary according to how many hours a student undertakes in each semester or quarter and the field of study in which they are enrolled. (I personally know one fellow who took ten (10) years to earn his Pharmacy degree which normally takes five (5) years to earn. Of course, after he earned that degree, he went into the insurance business. Go figure.) A Community/Junior College is an institution for higher learning that offers Associate's degrees. The general length of time to earn an Associate's degree is two (2) years. Some fields of study offered by Community/Junior Colleges can be completed in a year or less. Many, if not all, credits earned at a Community/Junior college may be transfered to a Senior College or an University. Note: Since good athletes are not necessarily good students, a current trend in College athletics is to have prospective football and basketball players who are academically ineligible to play for a College or University attend a Community/Junior College to bolster their GPA to the point that they can obtain admission to a Senior College or University. Some Community/Junior College football or basketball teams are capable of defeating Senior College or University teams although they do not actually play those teams.

Can you get a job in the dental hygiene field through online schools?
You can take courses online from certain colleges. But the classes that are required for this degree, also require a lot of Lab work. So most you can not. You can take some nutrition and mathematics classes online. But for the most part you kind of have to be in class to get the experience... Plus a state college degree looks a lot better than a cheesy online college, its olbvious if you get your certificate that way that you didnt have much hands on experience. So you deside.
How long do you have to go to college for in order to be a cosmetologist?
All States require barbers, cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers to be licensed, with the exceptions of shampooers and makeup artists. To qualify for a license, most job seekers are required to graduate from a State-licensed barber or cosmetology school. Education and training. A high school diploma or GED is required for some personal appearance workers in some States. In addition, most States require that barbers and cosmetologists complete a program in a State-licensed barber or cosmetology school. Programs in hairstyling, skin care, and other personal appearance services can be found in both high schools and in public or private postsecondary vocational schools. Full-time programs in barbering and cosmetology usually last 9 months and may lead to an associate degree, but training for manicurists and pedicurists and skin care specialists requires significantly less time. Makeup artists can attend schools that specialize in this subject, but it is not required. Shampooers generally do not need formal training. Most professionals take advanced courses in hairstyling or other personal appearance services to keep up with the latest trends. They also may take courses in sales and marketing. During their first weeks on the job, new workers may be given relatively simple tasks. Once they have demonstrated their skills, they are gradually permitted to perform more complicated procedures, such as coloring hair. As they continue to work in the field, more training usually is required to help workers learn the techniques particular to each salon and to build on the basics learned in cosmetology school. Personal appearance workers attend training at salons, cosmetology schools, or industry trade shows throughout their careers. Licensure. All States require barbers, cosmetologists, and other personal appearance workers to be licensed, with the exceptions of shampooers and makeup artists. Qualifications for a license vary by State, but generally a person must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 16 years old, and have graduated from a State-licensed barber or cosmetology school. After graduating from a State approved training program, students take a State licensing examination. The exam consists of a written test and, in some cases, a practical test of styling skills or an oral examination. In many States, cosmetology training may be credited toward a barbering license, and vice versa, and a few States combine the two licenses. Most States require separate licensing examinations for manicurists, pedicurists, and skin care specialists. Some States have reciprocity agreements that allow licensed barbers and cosmetologists to obtain a license in a different State without additional formal training, but such agreements are uncommon. Consequently, persons who wish to work in a particular State should review the laws of that State before entering a training program. Other qualifications.Successful personal appearance workers should have an understanding of fashion, art, and technical design. They also must keep a neat personal appearance and a clean work area. Interpersonal skills, image, and attitude play an important role in career success. As client retention and retail sales become an increasingly important part of salons' revenue, the ability to be an effective salesperson becomes ever more vital for salon workers. Some cosmetology schools consider "people skills" to be such an integral part of the job that they require coursework in that area. Business skills are important for those who plan to operate their own salons. Advancement. Advancement usually takes the form of higher earnings as barbers and cosmetologists gain experience and build a steady clientele. Some barbers and cosmetologists manage salons, lease booth space in salons, or open their own salons after several years of experience. Others teach in barber or cosmetology schools or provide training through vocational schools. Still others advance to become sales representatives, image or fashion consultants, or examiners for State licensing boards. Is an associate's degree better than a bachelor's degree?
A Bachelor's Degree is considered to be a HIGHER level of education than an Associate's Degree. That being said, whether or not a Bachelor's Degree is BETTER than an Associate's Degree depends upon what field of study one undertakes or which profession one plans to enter upon attainment of a degree.
Some excellent professions can be pursued after attainment of an Associate's Degree. Examples include Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Aide, cosmetologist, production machine operator, electrician, landscaper, barber, millwright, river boat deck hand et al.
Although these are not the usual "Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief...." professions associated with a college degree, they offer rewards, both monetary and asthetic, for those who pursue them. While it is true that most of these professions can be pursued with no degree, many Junior/Community Colleges offer viable training and job placement assistance and "incubation" or start-up business sites.
An Associate's Degree usually takes two (2) years to earn AND many of the credits earned may be transferred toward earning a Bachelor's Degree. A Bachelor's Degree usually takes four (4) years to earn.
How long does Medical school take?
Medical school typically lasts four years. I believe there are some medical schools that have accelerated three year programs, but overall it is my understanding that most medical schools operate on the traditional four year plan.
Do you need your master's degree to get your doctors degree?
It depends on the school and your field of study. Many doctoral programs accept candidates who have only obtained a bachelor's degree. Most of these programs will automatically award a master's degree to the doctoral student as he or she progresses towards the completion of the Ph.D..
Furthermore, at some schools, entering a Ph.D. program with a master's degree will shorten the course of the program by only one year. There are situations where a student enrolls in a terminal M.A. program but after a year of high achievement asks to be enrolled in a program leading to a Ph.D. While this is possible, sometimes just the opposite is the case. Some prestigious graduate schools do not accept students wishing to pursue a terminal master's degree; they only accept students seeking the Ph.D.. However, if, after completing a considerable portion of the required program, the student is unable to finish the dissertation or meet certain evaluation criteria, the school may award a terminal M.A. or M.Phil. and say goodbye to this student.
For example, the graduate program in history at Columbia University writes this on the admissions page: "Our program is designed for students who seek the Ph.D. Although students entering without a Master's degree earn an M.A. in History in the course of their study here, we do not admit full-time students who wish only to earn a Master's degree." Students entering Columbia's graduate school with a Master's degree are considered to have Advanced Standing, which excuses them from only one year of coursework at Columbia.
What college courses do you take to become a vet?
In the United States, you will need to complete at least three years of undergraduate college. Courses include a year of biology with lab, a year of inorganic chemistry with lab, a year of organic chemistry with lab, a term of biochemistry, a term of microbiology, Calculus I, a year of physics with lab, a term of genetics and a handful of other assorted general education/humanities. You then have to complete four years of vet school which includes classes like comparative anatomy, histology, pathology, epidemiology, molecular biology, communications, technical skills such as surgery and examination, radiology, pharmacology, etc.
The requirements around the world are similar although the structure of the educational system may vary - some countries have rolled all college courses into their vet school while others may require more or less time in pre-vet school college.
How many years of medical school does it take to become an orthopedic physician?
It takes more than just going to college to become an orthopaedic surgeon. Do colleges in California offer degrees?
Any California resident of at least 6 months can get a free education to any public California college as long as they are accepted into it.
California also has a program called ROP (Regional Occupational Program) that allows you to receive training in a particular vocation. This training can last anywhere from a few months to a little over a year. It is free as well, however you would receive a certificate not a diploma as it is not college.
