Where is the pcv valve on a 2000 V8 Lincoln LS?
I was just told where the PCV valve(s)are on my 2000 Lincoln LS by the Service representative of my local Ford dealer. Apparently there are two PCVs. Each is an integral part of the valve cover(s). They tell me that they cannot be replaced without replacing the complete covers. (What a bad design ?). I am finding all this all out the hard way. They tell me that both PCVs are carboned up and plugged. That in turn has created backpressure in the engine and under the valve covers. This has resulted not only in blowing the seals (gaskets?) on the valve covers, but also in filling up one of the plug wells with oil (yes, the spark plugs are under the covers on the LS), and caused a misfiring of the sparkplug. I have been experiencing this misfiring at certain engine speeds during the last few weeks. Also, there has been a faint smell of oil fumes coming from the engine recently. The repair is going to consist of 2 new Covers (c/w PCV valves), new spark plugs, and at least one sparkplug coil. Estimated Cost of repair : $1,100 !! Anyone have any comments ?

How do you replace the PCV valve on a 1998 Toyota RAV 4?
The pcv valve is located in the cam cover of the engine. The cam cover is also where your oil filler cap is located. Look over to the right of the filler cap. You will see a grey plastic piece stuck into a rubber grommet in the cam cover. This is the pcv valve. Pull it out of it's grommet, remove the hose from the other end, and re-install in the same order. To make your new valve slide easily into the hose and grommet, just spit on the valve housing, being careful not to get it into the valve body. That's it!

Where is the PCV valve on a 2005 Toyota Camry?
On the oil fill cap side of the valve cover. To access the PCV valve you will need to remove the protective plastic cover mounted over the valve cover area. Two small nuts are holding it in place. Unlike other PCV valves you may have changed in the past, this one is screwed into the valve cover instead of being inserted into a rubber grommet. You will need a 22MM deep socket or a suitable wrench to remove it.

Why is the exhaust valve seat is made wider than the inlet valve seat?
Better heat distribution. The exhaust valve sees a lot more heat.
Why are inlet and exhaust valves different sizes?
Inlet & exhaust valves operate in different pressure conditions. Inlet valve in NA engines (Normally aspirated engines) have to work against pressure difference of say vacuum caused by piston going down & atmospheric 1 bar pressure, ie at pressure difference of 1 bar while exhaust valve has to work against pressure of multiple times of 1 bar. So exhaust at high pressure has a tendency of getting exhaled faster.
During designing of valve size, amount of force required to operate the valves during operation is also considered so higher the area of exhaust valve higher is the force required to operate it.
Thirdly Valve overlap timing requirement & the dynamics of the flow of air and physical sizes of valve opening affects each other or dependent of each other
How can you identify the intake valve from the exhaust valve with the heads on?
The exhaust valves will be located closest to the exhaust manifold side of the head & are always smaller in diameter than intake valves.
Also if any are open @ the time you will see the carbon build up around the exhaust valves
where as the intakes will be considerably cleaner.

What is the function of the main bearings?
The purpose of a bearing is to reduce friction, most often on a rotating shaft. It may be made of many different materials including sintered bronze, which holds oil to reduce friction, and various metals which are cast in place to make a soft slippery surface for really heavy shafts. A bearing can also use balls or rods between two hardened metal surfaces, the balls or rollers convert what would be a sliding contact to a rolling point contact.
