Crankcases and PCV Valves

its to the rear of engine under the intake manifold

if not on the valve cover, then this engine will be one of the newer 5.0 engines with an intake manifold similar to that of a mustang. the pcv valve will be located on the backside of the intake manifold near the firewall, you will have to feel for it.

Yes there is a screen.

It's on the left side of the valve cover. It's an elbow and the tube goes to the intake

I actually found it after viewing another post. The port is behind the intake manifold above the EGR valve. Very tight space, so feel around back & connect that end first. Then connect the PCV end. Much easier that way. I believe it's the same for 01-04 Trackers V6 2.5L.

Remove the cover from the engine head, this allows access to the spark plugs, injectors etc. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) has a tube that connects it to the air intake.

on the 3100V6 you will find the PCV valve on the valve cover (front valve cover...closer to the radiator) on the drivers side of the cover, there is a hose attached to it. this will be on the OPPOSITE side of the pulleys, it is directly in the top on the valve cover. and slides out with no tools needed

It's comes out of the passenger side rocker arm cover. There's a mess of vacuum lines coming off the intake plenum, and it's directly under them. It's nearly impossible to get to it without removing the intake plenum. Reference a Chilton's manual for directions, and make SURE that you label all vacuum and coolant lines accurately.

in the front of the engine on the right side of the engine. next to the plenum. you will see a black hose that leads into a small metal valve that screws to the engind. if you pull the hose off you can remove it with a deepwell socket. not your average looking pcv valve.

It is right behind the altenator. You can barley see it but it's there, you probaly have to feel for it.

Just changed mine yesterday, it is located (if facing from the front) to the back right of the engine. Just pull it out, the line leading from it can also be disconnected once out you may need to heat it a little or run it under some hot water to replace due to the snug fit. once you replace it back in the engine make sure the ring is flush to the engine. PCV Valves are located on either the Left or Right Manifold of the engine. Simply unplug the old one and inster the new one. HTH

bmw do not use a pcv valve system, instead they use a cyclone seperator system, and crankcase vent valve. the system is located under the intake manifold. comming problems are they rubber inside go bad, and the hoses get dry and brittle and crack, most commin is the valve from the cyclone seperator hose that runs excessive oil to engine, this hose is connected at the base of the dipstick will break off at the top of the seperator, this will cause a vacuum leak. good luck.

1998 and newer 2.2L engine does not have a serviceable pcv valve.

If it is a v-6, the pcv valve is buried beneath the intake manifold. It's a very expensive unit to change because you have to tear half the engine apart to get to it. My suggestion would be to spray carb cleaner in the vaccuum hose and hope it cleans it out.

You're likely looking at the oil pressure sending unit.

The PVC valve is located on the engine side cover near the firewall on the passanger side of the engine. Coyote John
