Crankcases and PCV Valves

Basically, a crankcase is the casing for the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. Combustion produces pressure within the crankcase. Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves regulate the vapor pressure within the engine and recycle it back into the engine.

Where is PCV valve on a 98 Honda Civic LX and how do you change it?

I just tried to answer this myself earlier today. The service manual shows it just behind the valve cover, but it ain't there. There is a breather hose that goes directly to the air filter housing. The only other place it could be is on the block somewhere in the back, below the intake manifold.

It is in fact below the IM. The best way to get at it is to do it during an oil change. Drain the oil pan, then pull off the oil filter. The PCV Valve is just above the oil filter. A pair of needle nose pliers are needed to pull the clamp off to remove the vacuum line the PCV Valve is in.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 96 Metro?

The PCV Valve is located in between the valve cover and the air cleaner. There is a vacuum hose that connects to the top of it. You will need to remove the air cleaner first and then remove the vacuum hose. Once the hose is removed you will need to remove 1 screw from the small bracket that is holding down the PCV Valve. Be careful and try not to messup the head of the screw, as the material that the screw is made up of is quite soft. So use a screw driver that fits the head.
