Where is the camshaft position sensor on a 1998 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L?

Right-rear of engine

At the right rear of the engine under the intake manifold and to the left of the oil filter. You will probably need to go under the car to spot it, it's the sensor with a three-wire connector aranged vertically. But you can take it out from above. It's held in with a single bolt with an eight MM head located just above the sensor. Unclip and remove the electrical connector. Unscrew the bolt with a socket wrench & extension bar. Wiggle and pull the sensor out.

...Since your engine sits sideways, the sensor is on the "left side" of the engine, which is the side that is against the firewall. it's not technically the back of the engine

Where is the cold start sensor located on a 2001 mercury grand marquis 4.6 liter?

I have no idea what is meant by a "cold start sensor." I have never heard of such an animal in all my years at Ford. There are only two temp sensors as far as the computer is concerned on any Ford gasoline engine. They are the intake air temp sensor, found sometimes in the air filter box or snorkel, or sometimes built into the MAF sensor, and there is the engine coolant temp(ECT) sensor or cylinder head temp(CHT) sensor, This car doesn't use a ECT, but uses a CHT, located in the front valley area of the driver's side cylinder head. All necessary temperature information is provided to the computer by means of those sensors, and the computer is able to make all necessary adjustments based on that information. No special cold start sensor is needed.

On a natural gas equipped vehicle there is a engine fuel temp sensor, located on the top of the engine, and there are two fuel tank temp sensors located on the pressurized natural gas tank.

How do you change a crankshaft position sensor on a 2001 VW Jetta?

For the 1.8T, the sensor is located near the oil filter, set back into a small alcove just above the oil pan and between the oil filter and the end of the engine block nearest the transmission. It's easiest to reach it from below. BEFORE YOU REMOVE IT: it's a good idea to clean up as much grime from the area as possible so you don't intorduce more dirt into that area. There is a 10mm bolt above the sensor; remove it completely. (You'll need about 2" length on the socket.) Then you need to wrestle the sensor out. There's an O-ring on the sensor that prevents it from coming out easily, although it will rotate in place. I had to pry mine out using a screwdriver. Once you pop it out 1/8" it will then be free. Pull it straight out. I don't have any knowledge about other engines, sorry.
