Does a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD have a Crankshaft Position Sensor?

Yes it does and it is behind the starter. You will have to remove the starter to see it.

What would cause your vehicle to start and run but seem muffled or sound like its puttering?

plugsYou may want to check your spark plugs because mine was doing the same thing and my #1 cylinder plug was fouled out...possibly caused by bad gaskets/seals, a faulty fuel injector, or needs cleaning (pour some fuel-injector cleaner into your gas tank or complete fuel system cleaner would be better). It could be bad plug wires, faulty fuel pump, trash or water in your gas line or gas (pouring gas treatment into gas tank may help), pcv valve, clogged fuel filter or dirty air filter. My car is still broke down, even after I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, pcv valve, my air filter looked good. Also, if the "check engine soon" or "check engine" light comes on I would suggest that you go to your nearest Autozone (free testing), or other repair shop and get it checked out (immediately if "check engine soon" light is red, which means serious problem). Yellow means not so serious on the "check engine soon" light, but still needs your attention. "Check engine" light on my wife's car is yellow, so have it checked out because I don't know if that particular light can go red. Some cars have a "check engine soon" light and some have a :check engine" light. Don't know if a car has both. If your car has a carburetor then some carb/gas treatment in the gas tank wouldn't hurt, or some carb cleaner sprayed into the carb (note that these are not the same cleaners, 1 made to go into gas in gas-tank, 1 made only for carb itself).

Where is the crankshaft sensor on 98 Chevy silverado?

It is bolted in the passenger side of the timing chain cover just behind the harmonic balancer. You will need to slide in under the front of the engine to see it.

Where is the camshaft position located on a 2005 dodge Dakota?

on the bottom of the motor. passenger side right above the oil pan. you can see it from the front passenger tire.

Where and what is the camshaft position sensor?

the camshaft position sensor is used to synchronize the fuel injection system with the opening of the intake valves.

It synchs the cam shaft location with the crankshaft location

It can be in a distributor or it can read a tone wheel on the cam shaft.

Where is the camshaft position sensor in a 2001 Ford Taurus?

It is located on the right hand side of the engine (you standing at the front of the car) under the wiring harness going up into the engine to the left of the throttle cable. Real pain to get at and replace but can be done with no special tools. 7/32 in. wrench is the only way to get at it.

How do you change the crankshaft position sensor on a 2005 Nissan Altima?

Here is the best answer I found although I have not attempted the procedure...

Knight Vision: I have completed the proceedure and my additions are below.

Remove the (4) Allen head bolts that hold the plastic engine cover.

Remove the bellows from the throttle chamber to air filter, and pull off the valve cover breather tube with the bellows.

Reach over to the brake booster vacuum hose and turn the spring hose clamp about 45 degrees counter clockwise, this will keep the clamp from cutting your elbow during the sensor removal process.

Now place a drop light under the two rubber brake hoses shining forward. Between the valve cover and the throttle chamber look straight down toward the ground. See a plug and black sensor held to the engine block with a goldcolored 10mm hex headed bolt? That is ths sucker that has leaked oil into the plug and has caused the P0335 code. Getting it unplugged and removed is the hard part.

It takes gorrillia fingers to slide down the green release and then pull on the wires to remove the plug.

Next is to use two, 2" long 1/4" drive extensions and a 10mm socket and ratchet handle. Take the bolt out using a pair of 6" regular slip jaw pliers and twist and pull the 1 1/2 inch long crank sensor rearward. The replacement (sensor)will be a metal (cylinder)and (install)180 degrees backward, (allowing future access to the bolt so that the sensor can be removed before unplugging it).

After washing the plug out with spray brake cleaner, blow out with compressed air to get rid of the oil. Plug the metal sensor into the wire and watch the green thing pop back, then place the sensor back into its hole. Bolt it in place. Good luck.

I have done hundreds of them. Customers pay retail price around 170 dollars at the Nissan Dealer, but my work is backed by a nationwide guarantee, 12/mos. 12,000 miles.

TRICK: If you put a socket on your finger, 15mm for me, when you try to push (slide) the green release tab down, it makes the sensor plug much easier to remove, (or use a stubby screw-driver or 2" extention to push it in.)

(Understand, you need to slide the green button down the shaft toward the block, don't try to sqeeze it into the body of the sensor.)

(Also, before you begin, go out and buy a long handled flat-head screw-driver, 20 inches or longer. Insert the screw-driver down between the valve cover and the throttle chamber. When you slide down the green button, use the screw-driver in between the plug and the sensor to break the plug free. Simply pulling on the wires won't work, and could damage your plug.)

(Using the screw-driver will also make separating the sensor from the block much easier too.)

How do you change camshaft sensor 2003 stratus 2.4 liter?

Follow the below steps to replace the camshaft sensor 2003 stratus:

1) Loosen the two bolts securing the air inlet resonator, the large plastic component that the air filter outlet tube connects to, using a ratchet and socket. Now, pull the air filter outlet tube from the air filter housing.

2) Pull the oil separator tube from the air filter outlet tube using a slight twisting motion. Remove the air filter outlet tube and resonator from the engine compartment, exposing the camshaft position sensor.

3) Unplug the camshaft position sensor's wiring harness. Remove the screws securing the camshaft position sensor using a ratchet and socket.

4) Remove the screw securing the camshaft magnet to the camshaft using a ratchet and Allen-bit

socket. Then, pull the magnet from the end of the camshaft.

5) Line up the dowel pins on the new camshaft magnet, which comes with the new camshaft position sensor, with the locating holes on the end of the camshaft; then, place the camshaft sensor back onto the cylinder head in the same position it was in prior to removal.

6) Press the air filter outlet tube onto the outlet on the air filter box, then tighten the hose clamp to between 20 and 30 inch-pounds.

Guide the resonator's hose onto the inlet on the throttle body and tighten the hose clamp to between 20 and 30 inch-pounds.

7) Set the resonator in place on top of the engine, aligning its bolt holes with those on top of the engine.

What is a Cam Shaft Sensor?

The cam shaft sensor is device that uses the "Hall Effect" to tell the ignition control module and/or the ecu ( depending on type of vehicle ) where the cam shaft is during it's rotation so it can fire off the engine coil(s) and open the fuel injectors at the correct time.
