What would cause the air bag light to flash and then stay lit on a 2000 Lincoln Town Car?
My 2000 Lincoln Towncar's AirBag Dash light comes on when I statr the car, if flashes 3 times then 6 times (it does that a couple of times and then just "Stays On" ... I cannot presently locate data to direct me to the error. If it was a "Module" that needed re-setting that wouldn't be a major problem, however, I would hate doing that annd finding out that wasn't the problem. The car hasn't been involved in any type of impact. It all of a sudden just came on... I have removed the battery cables "Hoping" that it would erase the Code or something??? Just a try!
Has anyone had that problem??? What should I do?? I'm a marginal mechanic for many, many years, a very good "part replacer" etc...
The car has only 38,000 miles on it and is in "NEW" condition...

It's not the moduel!
My 2000 had the same issue exactly as your's.
I moved the seat all the way forward and up, then checked and pushed the harness connections into place.
Started the car and light the airbag light went OUT.
Must be from seat moving back and forth when you get in and leave the vehicle that caused a loose connection.
It's all good now.
Phu imagine the dealer price to fix it would be?
Hope this helped.
All the best.

Check to see if you are getting power to rheostat that controls dash lights dimming feature Could be a terminal on light switch
This guage is to register the RPM's (revolutions per minute) the engine is running. In short, how much the engine is revved up.
The speedometer is fed by two wires (one black one white wire) from VSS 2. This pair works its way through multiple connectors to pins 2 and 3 on a 3-pin connector in the back of the combo meter (i11, all three pins next to each other). The wires maintain their color all the way to the instrument cluster according to the shop manual. The speedometer then feeds a green wire with black stripe that exits the combination meter. This wire finds its way to both the TCU and cruise control according to diagrams. This wire is on pin 10 of connector i10 (light gray, 16-pin, each pin next to the other) at the combination meter. There is a wire that leaves the speedometer circuit for ground, for four connections in total.

How Does a Speedometer Work and How Accurate is it?
Well, that depends. What car are you talking about? In some newer Fords, they now have the Hybrid Electronic Cluster (HEC). It works by reading the speed from the output shaft of the transmission via a speed sensor. As with any programming, it's as accurate as the person who programmed it.
An electrical speedometer:
Let's say a car is traveling along the highway at a constant speed. That means its transmission and driveshaft are rotating at a speed that corresponds to the vehicle speed. It also means that the mandrel in the speedometer's drive cable -- because it's connected to the transmission via a set of gears -- is also rotating at the same speed. And, finally, the permanent magnet at the other end of the drive cable is rotating.
As the magnet spins, it sets up a rotating magnetic field, creating forces that act on the speed cup. These forces cause electrical current to flow in the cup in small rotating eddies, known as eddy currents. In some applications, eddy currents represent lost power and are therefore undesirable. But in the case of a speedometer, the eddy currents create a drag torque that does work on the speed cup. The cup and its attached needle turn in the same direction that the magnetic field is turning -- but only as far as the hairspring will allow it. The needle on the speed cup comes to a rest where the opposing force of the hairspring balances the force created by the revolving magnet.
What if the car increases or decreases its speed? If the car travels faster, the permanent magnet inside the speed cup will rotate faster, which creates a stronger magnetic field, larger eddy currents and a greater deflection of the speedometer needle. If the car slows down, the magnet inside the cup rotates more slowly, which reduces the strength of the magnetic field, resulting in smaller eddy currents and less deflection of the needle. When a car is stopped, the hairspring holds the needle at zero.
An electronic speedometer:
An electronic speedometer receives its data from a vehicle speed sensor (VSS), not a drive cable. The VSS is mounted to the transmission output shaft or to the crankshaft and consists of a toothed metal disk and a stationary detector that covers a magnetic coil. As the teeth move past the coil, they "interrupt" the magnetic field, creating a series of pulses that are sent to a computer. For each 40,000 pulses from the VSS, the trip and total odometers increase by one mile. Speed is also determined from the input pulse frequency. Circuit electronics in the car are designed to display the speed either on a digital screen or on a typical analog system with a needle and dial.

Red exclamation warning light on a mini one?
if it has a wobbly line under it its to do with the tyres it could be the pressure needs checking or a slow puncture either way it needs re-setting by a qualified technician x
How do you set time on dashboard clock 2007 impala?
get out your owners manual and it will tell you how to do it.
In a Nissan Sentra I had similar problem. Trouble was the steering column mounted on / off switch for the headlamps. Turns out it is a pretty complex switch and the wiring diagram at the dealer revealed that it was connected to the dash lights and other interior lights. About a $75 gamble to see if I had read the diagram correctly, and, praise the Lord, I had. Replacing that turn signal / Headlights on/off switch deal fixed it immediately.
First check your fuses if none are blown then check the switch.
What needs to be removed on a 2007 Kawasaki KLR 650 to replace the spark plug?
remove the air scoops, the rear side panels, the seat and the gas tank------- tools needed will be 10 and 8 mm sockets, #3 Phillips screw driver and a 18 mm socket for the plug.
That light may indicate there is a problem with your ABS system. I do not own an Altima but some dashes have an ABS light and some don't. If yours has an ABS light in the dash then please disregard my reply. The only other reason a brake light may be on is if the piston in the master cylinder goes down too far and hits an electrical conection that tells you you may have fluid loss such as a caliper leaking but you said the brake fluid is full unless your master cylinder is failing
How do you replace the speedometer cable in a 1994 ford escort station wagon?
Im not sure there is a speedometer cable generally speaking speedometers have been electeonic for many years---phone and see if there a listing for your car but if there is a cable you have to reach behind the the spedo head in the dash ---release the clip or nut that holds it to the head then just pull it off---then go down to the transmission and release it from there and just pull it through the firewall
It would be a dashbaord that displays the speed, temp, etc in digital numbers. It would not have analog gauges.
that light is the light to say that you have a brake problem, normally low brake fluid hope this helps
How do you replace the instrument panel lights on a '01 Explorer Sport Trac?
The headlight switch instrument panel illumination bulb can be accessed / replaced without removing the dash (on an 01' & possibly other) Explorers, though it is a bit tricky. The bulb is seated in the switch itself, and is removed with a quarter turn counter clockwise. You'll need a small slot screwdriver with a narrow blade (or similar item) to do this. To get to the bulb, you'll need to pull off the fuse panel access door and remove the three (3) screws holding the fuse block. You'll also need to remove the plastic trim panel under the steering wheel, including the hood latch (7mm socket). Underneath that is a metal, wiring cover plate, which also must be removed (9mm socket). Once all are out of the way you can get behind the switch and using a small screwdriver, remove the old bulb and replace. It appears all other instrument panel lights have to be accessed via complete removal of the dash.
If the lights behind your gas gage, mph gage, or etc. are not working, you will have to remove the panels below and above your steering wheel. I'm unsure of the bulb size, but you can go to the auto parts store and tell them what you need and they should give you the correct build. There's 6 total, and i replaced all 6 when i replaced mine because they are so complicated to get to.
1. remove the panel which holds your CD player and heat/air controls. Remove the controls on your heat/air by just pulling them off. Remove the two screws directly above the controls. Pull out on the entire panel and it will snap off.
2. Remove the panel below your steering wheel by taking two screws at the very bottom of the panel out. Pull the panel out and it will snap off.
3. Remove the metal plate behind the panel you just removed by taking the 5 bolts out in the plate.
4. Remove the panel which contains your dimmer and lights on/off switch by removing the 3 screws underneath the dash. Look and the glass panel then look up, you'll see the 3 screws. Pull out on the panel and it will release.
5. Remove the whole instrument panel by taking the 4 bolts out in each of the 4 corners. The instrument panel will come out.
6. Look on the back of the panel. There will be a circuit board. There will be six black bulb holders which will snap out of the circuit board. Twist the black bulb holders counter clockwise about 1/4 turn and they will snap out. The new bulbs will fit in the place of the old bulbs. Put the black bulb holder back in the circuit board and turn clockwise 1/4 turn.
7. Replace all of the panels just like you took them off.
What does it mean when abs light stays on in a vauxhall?
Usually, that means that there is something wrong, somewhere, in the Anti-lock Brake system.
Someone has to "troubleshoot" the system to determine what the fault is that's causing the light to stay on. It could be anything, including a defect in the warning wiring itself, but usually means there is something wrong with the braking system.
Get it checked out by a QUALIFIED automotive brake tech or mechanic.
the speedo gear is located in the tail section of the transfer case, just in front of the rear yoke, there should be a single bolt holding down the gear set, that is where it is located, remove that and change it out, just make sure you get the correct one from the parts shop, also if you have oversized tires this is where you change for correct speedo readings
your rpm gauge works off your engin your speed gauge works off the transmission where the cable slides into the transmission tha plastic geer is probably stripped
Is it safe to drive when air bag light on?
It likely means that your airbag may malfunction (or not function at all) in an accident.
How do you know if another car's gauge cluster can be swapped into your own car?
Call your dealer or Junck Yard and ask them if your cluster is interchange with another year. For example Jeep Cherokee is interchange 2000 to 2002 for the cluster but for ac/blower resister is interchangable for, 96-2001. O hope this help youSuleiman
