Dashboard Lights and Gauges

The vehicle’s dashboard serves as its control panel, providing the driver with gauges indicating speed, distance, temperature and the amount of gasoline left in the tank. It also houses light indicators such as a seat belt warning light and an engine malfunction light.

No heater working no dash lights?

first check your fuses, switches, wires.

you should find the problem with lights checking these.

Now for the heater you still want to check the fuses, switches and wires.

Be sure the heater hoses are connected. I recently saw a used car that the heater core was bypassed.

is there any heat at all? are the vents blocked (I had this problem with leaves from sitting for a long time before I bought my jeep).

there is a cable that runs from the dash to the heater core housing. This opens and closes a door that allows heat in, is the cable connected and working? There is a rheostat on the outside of the housing check the wires and condition. if there is obvious corrosion or damage replace this.

if you have some heat but not much it could be the fan it is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side.

if you need more help resubmit your question with the make model and year and what you have tried and I will try to help from there.

good luck

What is wrong when only the head lights work on a 1993 Nissan truck?

It can be:

* The headlight switch (there are multiple parts to the switch, for headlights, tail lights, dash lights) * A fuse (but if a fuse has blown out you need to figure out why, typically that's caused by a short) * A bad wire or connector.

How do you fix fuel gage on 1984 Mercedes 300d?

9 out of 10 times its the sending unit gunked up from 25+ years of crud and just needs a good cleaning.

-

1. Remove the first aid kit and holder from rear deck. Look inside the opening and you will see a wire connector on top of the fuel sending unit.

2. To remove the unit with a REALLY big adjustable wrench. (I'm a proponent of the Ford wrench myself.) You can slip the wrench over the top to the partition from the trunk.

NOTE: The unit will take time to drain out. Be patient and have some rags on hand.

3. After removing the unit is easy to disassemble and clean. The float should move freely up and down the entire shaft it rides on. A clean rag and some brake cleaner should be all you need. Use caution as the inside of the unit contains think copper wires that must not be broken.

4. Test the operation of the gauge by connecting the sending unit in trunk area. the fuel gauge should read empty, and give the low fuel light. Invert unit and insert through first aid kit hole to test the full indication.

5. Reassemble and enjoy.

If this does not fix it feel free to message me for the full trouble shooting procedure.

How do you change the factory stereo in a 2000 Hyundai Elantra GXE?

Got this hint on another board and its answers all your questions!

Goto www.hmaservice.com (Hyundai webtech 2000) Set the Model Year and engine drop-downs on the top of the page and then click Search on the far right. Try entering the search kewords "dashboard", "interior" and/or "radio" (leave all items as the default values)

["dashboard" worked for my 2004 Elantra, and "radio" for my 2000 Elantra]

You should get a "Removal" or "Instruction" document that you can click on. This contains all the details of removing the dash assembly and radio.

Enjoy!

I went to the website and this is what you get although the pics didn't seem to work here. I ran into some snags where there was not nearly enough info and so I added a bit between steps three and four.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

AUDIO

1.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

2.

Remove the shift lever boot and the rheostat assembly using a (-) driver.

3.

Remove the center facia panel's 2 mounting screws. (2EA)

At this point it is going to tell you to pull off the facia panel. You will want to

get down and unscrew the heater control cable down near the gas pedal.

There are two screws holding it in place. One is holding the cable casing

and the other is holding a white piece that swivels attached to the cable.

Once these are free the facia piece should come free. If you do not do this you'll only have about a half inch of play and will probably break a clip yanking on stuff. You can do the rest without removing

all of the wire assemblies attached to the facia panel it is a little in the way

but manageable.

4.

Disconnect the heater control cable and connectors (6EA), and then remove the center facia panel.

5.

Remove the audio mounting screws (4EA) and remove the audio.

6.

Installation is the reverse order of removal procedure.

ANTENNA

1.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

2.

Remove the LH luggage side trim.

3.

Remove the antenna mounting nut and insulator.

4.

Remove the antenna mounting nuts (2EA).

5.

After removal of the antenna cable and connector, remove the antenna assembly.

6.

Installation is the reverse order of removal procedure.

FRONT SPEAKER

1.

Remove the inside handle mounting screw, and then separate the inside handle assembly from the door latch mechanism by removing the handle's plastic hook.

2.

Unscrew the door trim mounting screws and detach fastener. Remove the door trim.

3.

Remove the speaker mounting screws (3EA), and then remove the speaker assembly.

4.

Installation is the reverse order of removal procedure.

REAR SPEAKER (FOR SEDAN)

1.

Remove the rear seat cushion.

2.

Remove the rear seat side back.

3.

Remove the rear seat belt lower mounting bolt.

4.

Remove the high mounted stop lamp.

5.

Remove the rear partition trim and the package tray trim.

6.

After removing the speaker mounting screws (4EA), remove the speaker assembly.

REAR SPEAKER (FOR WAGON)

1.

Remove the rear cargo security screen and the speaker grill

2.

After removing the speaker mounting screws (4EA), remove the speaker assembly.

How do you change the speedometer sensor on a 1993 Toyota Corolla?

The speed sensor itself is located on top of the transmission housing, and it is accessable (though a bit of a reach). Go twords the back of the engine compartment (it's best to look through from the passenger side) If you look straight down from the back end of the fuel injector assembly you'll see a black connector hooked to some wires, right on top of the transmission housing. It's held in place by a single bolt. That is the speed sensor.

To remove it, first unplug the couple (the thing with the wires in it). It snaps in so you'l have to give it a squeeze to get it loose. Then with a 10mm wrench (or close to that) loosen the bolt. Once the bolt is out, grasp the sensor and pull it straight up. It will be oily and will have a gear on the bottom. That gear is spun by another gear inside the transmission. That's how it works.

I would strongly recommend doing some continuity tests with a multimeter. The sensor costs over two hundred freaking dollars.

How to remove 1999 ranger dashboard?

It's not easy. You have to: 1: unscrew the three bolts above the clear plastic cover of the dash 2: Unscrew the two black bolts that hold the stereo in then pop that panel out 3: Unscrew 4 gold bolts for the large panel below the steering wheel, these are just above your ankles, two of them are hidden behind the hood pull, and unsnap that panel 4: Under this panel there is a metal plate. Remove the top two screws and loosen the middle set. this allows you to access the next two screws. 5: Under the top of the metal plate are two bolts that hold the top panel in place, remove these. 6: Pull out the top panel, be careful to disconnect the two clips that latch behind the light knob before you pull the panel completely off. 7: Unscrew the bolts that hold the dash piece on, I'm sure you can figure it from here...

Why does the 5 amp fuse for your dash and instrument lights keep blowing on a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4?

Fuses That "Blow" Repeatedly

Without being able to "hands on" troubleshoot the circuit served by the repeatedly blowing fuse, none of us can identify the specific defect which is causing your problem.

Therefore, the following generic answer can be applied to any electrical circuit, whether in a vehicle, or in a building, or whether alternating current [AC] or direct current [DC].

Fuses [and Circuit Breakers] are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] and other components from short circuit conditions and/or overload conditions which cause an extremely large flow of electrical current [measured in Amperes], which causes overheating of the conductors that results in damage to the insulation and the conductors.

And in a worst case scenario, the probability of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle, house, or other structure in which the circuit is located.

When a fuse or Circuit Breaker [and replacement fuses, or repeatedly "tripping" Circuit Breakers] "blow," especially if it happens repeatedly, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short.

The fuse or circuit breaker is doing what it was designed, intended, and installed to do, protect the conductors and components of the circuit which it serves.

The proper "fix" for this issue is for a qualified technician, who knows what he or she is doing, to troubleshoot the involved circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse or before resetting a circuit breaker].

Some ignorant people will suggest installing a larger fuse or breaker to solve the problem, BUT that will only increase the hazard, not correct it.

Do not follow this "bad" advice by installing a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install an oversized fuse would almost guarantee damage to the wiring and the probability of an electrical system fire.

What does it mean when it says check abs?

ABS stands for Anti-locking Brake System. The warning lets you know that something may be wrong with the ABS. Generally, this means there is a problem with a sensor. It may not be serious, but it always is a good idea to have a mechanic check brake issues.

Check engine light code 421 how can get light to stay off?

If it is to get it inspected... Unplug the battery... Then drive for 100 to 150 miles... Get inspected then, codes should be off..
