2003 4.3's do not have an egr valve.

The EGR Vavle is on top of the engine compartment. It is held in by only 2 bolts. Buy the part and you will be able to match it up in less than 5 seconds. Remove bolts,insert cloth into the opening to ensure no debris falls in, clean the surface (razor blade) until 100% clean, rmove cloth and install and yes there is a gasket. Total time is less than 20 minutes,most of the time was allocated for cleaning surface.

You buy a new egr valve for about $300.00 or take the old one apart and clean it. It fixed my 1990 3800 lesabre.

I Called the Mazda dealer today and talked with the Mazda Tech and asked him the location of the EGR valve on the 1992 Mazda b2600i. According to the tech only the California models have an EGR valve, I would think that any state with similar laws about vehicle emmisions would require the egr valve also. My truck is from Montana and it doesn't have an egr valve which explaines why I havent been able to find it.

Facing the engine, it is located on the back, right side of the engine almost touching the firewall, just about in a line between the top of the right fuel rail and valve cover. It is about three inches down. If I'm not mistaken the EGR valve is located just below the throttle body on the back side of the motor up against the firewall.

EGR valve is located on the top of the motor, just to the right of your valve cover, in between the valve cover and the air intake tube. it has a 4-wire connector going to it. Besides the wire harness, the valve is held in by two 10mm bolts

You dont. In most cercumstances it is unnecessary. Try replacing the EGR valve position sensor (DPFE?) that should clear up any issues. if not then take it to a certified mechanic

This will depend on the make, model, engine, and the problem. You might try asking a more specific question and including the year, make (GM, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, Land Rover, Jeep, Mitsubishi?), and engine (4-cylinder, inline 6, V6, V8?).

It's on the intake manifold, just to the right of the throttle body. Two bolts hold it in place. When you lift the EGR valve, make sure you have a new gasket to replace the old one. At that point, it's just a matter of cleaning the built up deposits. Use a shop-vac to keep the deposits from entering back into the intake.

Try to move the diaphragm on the EGR valve, it should move semi-easily but if it is hard as rock try pushing harder on it to free it up. My 91 k1500 305 had this same problem and that is what I did to solve it. Once the diaphragm moves freely remove the negative battery cable to reset the computer. Drive the car at highway speeds and see if the check engine light comes back on.

There are quite a few potential problems that can be caused by a faulty EGR valve:

Lean burn, which can result in damage to the valves and/or pistons, caused when the faulty EGR valve allows too much fresh air into the intake.

When the opposite occurs, (too little fresh air), the idle speed can drop potentially not idling at all.

There are several signs, My experience was a engine that ran very rich. My sparkplugs smelled of gas and rough Idle with no real power. The role of the valve is to re-use a portion of your own exaust for better engine performance, fuel economy, and emmisions output. Engine Rough idle and poor acceleration can be caused by a faulty EGR valve.

I would say so. The EGR operates directly with manifold vaccum so when they sick open they can kill the idle. The car will run fine without it hooked up as it only functions during warm-up for emissions.

You may all so have carbon biulded up under it.It happen to me on a 73 Nova
