on my 93 its in front of radiator drvers side

open the hood and check the space between the hood and the firewall of the car, right below the passenger side wiper. there should be a door that says cabin air filter

- I have never seen a message that says anything, but it is quite easy to get to the cabin filter area - remove the anchor screws to remove the access panel and slide it to the passenger side. Then there is another access panel that can lift up and remove. This is where the filter resides. As an aside, if you dont want or need a 60.00 dealer filter, The fram or Wix numbers are C4303 and fit perfectly.

The firing order for a Ford Escape is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The Escape's distributor rotates clockwise.

I believe there is. I drive a 99 model. I was trying to fix my cigarette lighter last night and the owners manual indicated that there are fuse boxes in one of the side compatments in the boot (it is a touring model) and one other location. Sorry I can't be more precise but I'm away from the car right now. The fuse panel for cig. lighter is in the right rear of the trunk, above the battery.

There's a button on the left side of the stick shift - if you press it, the overdrive is disengaged and the grade assist takes over. I saw this thing today for the first time and a perusal of the owner's manual solved the mystery. I had accidentally pressed this button when shifting into gear.
It's amazing how a little orange icon can create fear and dread ! :)

With engine oil filter change :

The 2.0 liter Zetec four cylinder engine takes ( 4.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )

The 3.0 , Duratec V6 , takes ( 5.5 quarts , 5W-20 )

Purchase a Puroilator Filter. It comes with complete instructions.

First of all, be patient.

Disconnect the negative side of the battery. Then, remove the tire.

Next, you must have to remove the halfshaft -in my experience I prefer to remove it complete instead of broke the metal tag- This is the easy part.

This is the difficult part: The next step is dettach the alternator. It has three bolts: one in the top, two in the bottom, after remove them, you must have to unplug it. It suppose to take off the car by the halfshaft space.

On the 6 cylinder engine:

Disconnect car battery (positive first then neutral. Disconnect mass air flow power connector (runs into air filter box) and vacuum line running into snorkel (large rubber hose going from throttle body to air filter box). Remove vacuum hose running just behind air filter box (this gives you room to reach in and pull out old starter). Now, remove air filter box cover and snorkel. Remove the two radiator hoses (north/south) running into large plastic hose connector next to starter (channel locks will work on oem hose clamps). Take a 13mm swivel socket and a couple of extensions and you should be able to get both bolts out without removing anything else. I used a 6 inch extension for front bolt (extension angled low towards driver side front tire) and a 10 inch plus the 6 inch for the rear bolt (extensions angled up and slightly towards steering wheel). Once the two large bolts are out you can pull the starter and turn it so you have easy access to the the nuts holding the power connector on. Once these nuts and washers are off just work the old starter out and reverse instructions to install new one. You will loose a little coolant when hoses are removed so add a little bit to expansion reservoir and let engine run for 20 -30 minutes with top off reservoir (this is to get any air out of system). BE SURE TO CLEAN UP ANY SPILLED COOLANT. You should be done.

It does not have one; however, I just found this posting which explains how to add a Cabin Filter. I will be trying it this weekend.

I don't know why it is such a big deal just to give me the diagram for the fuse box on a 1996 Ford Thunderbird that controls the fan for the air conditioner and/ heater? I am a woman and I have no one to help me find it and it is over 90 degrees here and I have to go to work about 50 miles away in this heat. Thanks for nothing
