Hi there, you will find your window wash pump located at the bottom of the wash bottle on the passengers side front wheel arch, three bolts one top, two bottom, remember do not run new pump with out water in bottle as this will burn out motor, good luck. Steven jerrett

The owners manual on my 2001 protege LX 2.0 says not to tow with the vehicle. I would imagine a car with the same chasis and a smaller engine would have the same instructions. It is not usually a good idea to tow much with a front wheel drive vehicle regardless. That is what manufacturers want to make you believe in North America - that you should not tow anything with a 4-cilinder, compact car. They recommend you to buy their SUV or van. In Europe the same manufacturers publish towing rating for small cars - and that is one of the reasons why Europe doesn't have so many gas guzzlers. A rule of thumb is that you can tow about 50% of your vehicle weight. I wouldn't go that far but probably 30% is a safe bet. If you tow frequently, you will probably shorten a little bit the life of your engine and transmission. HiddenHitch offers a hitch Class I for Mazda Protege - check their specs. I am towing a 14" boat, 10hp engine, with my other car - a Suzuki Esteem Wagon (1.8L just like the Mazda) - about 500 pounds in total and on a good road I don't even feel it.

The limitation on tires for the Transit Connect stems form the fact that the rear tires take 49 psi in order to carry heavy loads. If you never carry heavy loads you could maybe reduce this pressure but that would cause problems with the wonderful tire pressure monitoring system. There fore you should select an "extra-load" rated tire designed for pressures of at least 49 psi. There are only a couple of such tires on the market. I like the Nokian Entyre.

According to the owners manual (available online at gmownercentral), a 2001 4.3L automatic ranges from 4,700 lbs to 5,900 lbs depending on rear end, 2wd vs 4 wd and regular vs extended cab. With the 4.8 auto it ranges from 6,100 to 8,000 lbs and with the 5.3 L, it ranges from 7,300 to 9,300. These ranges are all for automatic transmission. The manual trans is less (3,700 to 4,200 for a 4.3 L). Give more details if you want the exact number. Remember, you must reduce this weight when you add extra weight to the truck (extra passangers or stuff in the bed).
