Ford Windstar LX

My mechanic told me that it is not advisable to disconnect the warning buzzer, as it is on the same network as some of the interior lights. But I feel the same way as you - TOTALLY ANNOYING. Does anybody else have advise on how to get to the buzzer so we can figure out a way to "muffle" the sound at least with electrical tape or something??

Could be the temperature sending unit.

This information can be found in your owner's manual, or under the hood on a placard. If you do not have one, then you need to get one. Dealer, E-Bay, Salvage Yard, and many online sites are sources for a manual. Use Google and search with the term, "Automobile Owner's Manual".

96 windstar 3.8 oil pressure switch is located under power steering pump. Remove serpentine belt and alternator. Remove PS pump pulley with special puller to get access to PS pump bolts. Drain PS pump and remove PS hoses. Remove PS pump.

I'm not familiar with a 'shift position sensor', but think it might be actually referring to the neutral start switch, nowadays known as the transmission range sensor.

The reason your OD lite blinks and stays on means that your transmission control module has detected a problem such as a possible slipping clutch during a shift point you will need to have the vehicle scanned for codes and further repair

to get to the latch rod you will need to pull the plastic trim fasteners from the door and take the screws out of it on the bottom of the door. Pull the trim out just far enought to go thuought the top access hole after you cut a hole in the plastic vapor barrier and the latch rod will be just a few inches to the right pull up and the door will open.

These have issues w the lifters holding pressure even w engine off wifes 02 had a dead cyl #5 specifically (center front of engine) pulled valve cover start van loosen rockers 2 at a time to the edge of making clacking if idle clears you need lifters. Lifters stay pumped up holding valves open and at high rpm (freeway speed) because all are at same pressure. Hope that helps can cause stalling and constant engine light, note all the control modules are linked to pcm engine light on will cause other random lights like abs brake and mil light stalling ect to trick you into dealer. DO NOT USE FOXWELL SCANNERS ON THIS VEHICLE WILL CAUSE UNDESIRED OPERATION.

the module is in the distributor the module is in the distributor. you will have to remove the cap and rotor. it should be held on by 2 screws. good luck

"Manifold gasket" ? whick one? Upper intake MG,Lower intake MG or exhaust MG? I thinks you mean intake MG. The Upper intake MG is easy on. Just undo the bolt and clear the gasket materal, then replace new upper intake MG. The lower intake MG is a little bit hard. Carefully clear the old gasket material on the manifold and head, clear the bolt nad bolt hole in the head, then carfully install the lower intake MGand double check the coolant passage in ordeer to void the coolant leading. The last step is to torque corectly the bolt.

remove the 2 plastic covers over steering colum remove 3 screws from under covers some times there one screw on right lower rear of cover hard to see remove tilt steering arm on left side remove the 2 screws they have a torx head on them just connect wire connector

Doesn't matter. The post coming out of the actuator is keyed to the door (post and hole "D" shaped). Hint: before installing actuator, hook it to electrical connection, turn key to on position, and move heat selector switch to about half way position. This will turn the post on the actuator, allowing you to install the actuator into the door and rotating the rest of the way by hand before bolting in final position.

While it has been semi difficult to find any shop who could be honest and upfront on this issue. Let me just say that I learned how instead of depressing the brake fully, I could simply press ever so lightly on the brake and smoothly shift out of park and into reverse or drive. Understandng this is a safety device, designed to prevent accidental shifting, especially by small children.... I'm appalled how the repair shops play games with customers and pretend they dont know anything about such a device, its use or location in your car. Yet they all tend to be able to quickly quote the customer minimum shop hours required for them to \"look into it\".

I have a "98 Mercury and my air conditioning went out. I went to one outfit and the fellow said my compressor was out: about $650. When he was under the hood I felt cold air coming out only for a few moments. I told him this.

Of course I told him no thanks. A few days later I went to another outfit. How he tested it'; he tapped on the, whatever and there was cold air again. It cost me $67 including the part. The first guy was just a thief preying on a "dumb" woman.

Do what I alway did in situations like this. Go the public library, and find the "Motors Manual," for your model and year. They are awesome in a pinch.

The 2001 Windstar had at 3 types of radio "head units" - the basic was just AM/FM, a mid-range with combined cassette / cd-player, and then the top-o-the-line 6 cd-changer unit. The changer was built right into the unit - no remote changer component as Ford had used in previous models.

Check the Owners Manual starting right around page 50 for a round-up of radio unit information specific to the 2001 models.
