it is very hard to fix a nav. first check the CD/DVD in the navi unit. is it correct one and in good condition. note. no burned ones, and make sure region and area is all good. if that is good it is most likely a bad navi unit. make sure no one disconnected the power to the navi unit either uplugging the navi until it goes asleep can damage it, best have BMW dealer fully inspect navi system.

If you want a GPS unit that simple takes you to your destination, here ya go. It doesn't take pictures or play videos or give you moon phases - it just tells you how to get someplace. The larger screen is nice but the fonts used for street names can be a little hard to read. The Initial uses the same NAVTEQ data as the name brands so the directional performance should be the same. just so you know, all trucks used to have a full 24 volt system and cars had a 6 volt system so the design is not a nightmare. still a lot of tractors about with a 6 volt system. now a good electrician can connect a 12 volt unit to a 24 volt system if he knows what he is doing it is just a matter of knowing where to do it on a battery. you can also buy a voltage converter and wire it in. and yes you can still buy 24 light bulbs Before you go deep inside this, check the voltage on the cigarette lighter. It should only be 12 volts. The 24 volts are used in starting the truck only. By thinking this through, designing a vehicle that worked on a 24-volt electrical system would be a disaster. No one would buy it. All the current electrical components for vehicles are for 12-volt systems. Lights, gauges, radios - everything! How much trouble would it be to replace something like, say, a map light if a 24-volt lamp had to be located? Alternativley Check the powercable as many of them can work on different voltage say from 10 to 30 volts and power the gps with the correct voltage.

I have the garman iQue. I love this gps system. Works great. They have a cradle/charger accessory for your vehicle. Screen is bright. The only downside to this unit is the battery life when not in the cradle. You could solve this with an accessory battery pack if you wanted to use the unit hunting, hiking etc. I've used this garmin for 3 years with no problems other than an occasional reset. I have the Garmin i5 which is the same as the i3 ecept the maps come preloaded. It is an excellent GPS, that I highly recommend.
