What are my chances of getting into Virginia Tech My GPA is a 3.9 out of a 4.0 scale. My SAT scores were 410 writing. 480 math. 470 critical reading.?

Dude, as a sophmore student at VT I can tell you this: I got in after getting a 620 on English and 570 on the math section, and got in. But I'll be straightfoward: don't think you have a chance. 35% of students that apply don't get in, and average SAT scores are 540-630 for critical reading 570-670 for math, 530-630 for writing. You are way below that. But you can always try, you might be lucky.

Can you get into Michigan State University with a 2.7 GPA and a 27 on the ACT?

Your ACT score meets the requirement but with your GPA you should have some very impressive stuff on your application if you apply. I do know someone who graduated from high school with a 2.8 GPA and ended up going to Michigan State but it was a full ride on a football scholarship. if you ever watch a Michigan state football game look for Aaron Burbridge thats who im talking about.

Highest unweightned gpa is 4.0 so if you have a 4.5 it means you have counted the ap courses, thing is that the colleges dont look at the weightened gpas so if you want to get into a ivy league school with an unweightened gpa I say 3.8 and higher.

2.95 GPA in 10th grade you are on varsity basketball and lacrosse can you get into a pretty good college if you raise your GPA?

Honestly, colleges don't really care that much about sports, especially GREAT colleges, UNLESS, you have shown extreme dedication to them OR you have received outstanding recognition (such as nationals)...if not..then I reccommend you try hard and do try to reach this recognition, it will be worth it :D....of course..also try to increase GPA. :D

Answer

I must say I disagree with the person above me. Grades are undoubtibly the most important of your college application. I don't dispute that. But extras are also important. Colleges like to see a well-rounded student. That means good grades and extras. It depends on what you mean by a "good" school. If you mean a fairly selective school, you are going to have to bring up your GPA quite a bit. Good Luck!!! (and I didn't mean that sarcastically):D

If you show talent that is comparable to Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, or Adrian Peterson, then the college could care less about your GPA. Keep in mind that colleges have scouts all over the country whose job is to find talent. So to say that colleges don't care about sports is completely untrue. The bigger and better your team is, the more money and recognition that your college will get.

How can you find a chart that shows how to calculate GPA for a University?

Are you sure you mean a chart? A GPA is calculated based on a formula, there is no chart involved. Basically every letter grade has a corresponding value from 0 to 4. You multiple that number by the course hours. Sum them all up and divide it by the total number of course hours.

You can find a more detailed explanation and calculate your GPA on certain websites.
