Heating AC and Engine Cooling

Heating, air conditioning (AC) and engine cooling require a radiator to transfer heat. Heating a cabin requires heat to be transferred from an engine block. Engine cooling blows the heat out of the engine. AC uses refrigerants to cool air.

Where is the radiator fan relay olcated on a 1999 Acura Tl?

If you are talking about the radiator/AC fans the relays are located on the drivers side mounted what looks like on the radiator. it's either an 8mm or 10mm bolt and it isn't very easy to get to. BTW, make sure that the car is cool, like I said they are mounted right near the radiator. There are 2 relays mounted back-to-back and the harnesses are a bit hard to unplug. Just don't snatch them by the wires or you'll create a bigger problem.

Where are there instructions on how to repair a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee dual heating system problem that causes the passenger side to blow cold air no matter what the temperature setting is set to?

you could buy a service and repair manual at any autoparts store. the best book out there i believe that is called hayne's service and repair manual it gives you the best step by step instructions on how to repair any vehicle.

What would cause the temp gauge to not work on a 93 Ford Taurus Station Wagon?

The first thing that I would check is the wiring and the temp sensor @ the engine. Sorry but I do not know where the sensor is located on the engine. Usually they are not too hard to locate. i would replace temperature sender usual located near front of engine near thermostat housing

The electric cooling fan in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9L isn't working. What can I do to check to find out the exact problem with the fan?

Unplug the connector to the fan, next run a pos. and neg. to the connector from the battery to see if fan starts. If not, replace fan. If it does run then check the coolant temp. switches. There should be two on this vehicle. When the engine is warm they will have very little resistance to ground (ohms). If the engine is warm and they give no or open reading on DVOM they will need replacing.

Why does the ac compressor turn on and off when the defroster is on?

Most automotive ac systems will turn on the ac anytime the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) controls are set on defrost even when the temp control is set on heat. By doing so the moisture in the air is removed and it will clear a foggy inside windshield quickly. As to the ac compressor turning on and off continuously, this could be a sign of being low on freon.

What is a cool cyptid?

If you mean a cool cryptid, I'd say Bigfoot. Bigfoot is very interesting.

What cause a cooling fan not to run?

Probably the temperature sender. Should be two of them, one by the thermostat housing and probably one on the head. One is for the gauge and one for the sender. Check the fuse, relay and unplug the fan and run power and ground to it to make sure the fan itself is alright. Most likely is the sender.

Why would there be no voltage to the AC compressor clutch?

the pressure switch which is located on the dryer/accumulator senses when the refigerant level or pressure is low and shuts off the compressor to prevent catastrophic failure of the compressor due to possible lubricant loss. the electronic control panel in the dash then flashes to let you know your refrigerant is low. you obviously need to recharge the system at least. and to do that you have to get the compressor running. there may be other ways but the way i do it is to make a little jumper out of a paper clip that will plug into both holes of the pressure switch plug that i mentioned earlier. this will lock on the compressor once you reset the electronic control panel in the dash and the only way I've found to do this is to simply disconnect the negative battery terminal. this will get rid of the flashing ac symbol but it will also delete your radio preset stations. you can now proceed to recharge the system and check for leaks etc. if you do this yourself be sure to remove the jumper in the pressure switch plug and reconnect it to the pressure switch when you get thru charging the system

The contacts in the ignition key switch have been known to not make contact when the ignition is turned on. Remove the switch contacts. It can be removed from the key lock. Spray some contact cleaner into the contact cluster through some small openings, reassemble the switch and work the key back and forth to clean the contacts. Then see if the AC clutch gets voltage. Note that there is a little light in the AC pushbutton on the AC controls. The light some come on if the circuit to the clutch is complete

Why would a car be blowing hot air then turn to cold?

Good change a plugged heatercore. When it runs, feel the two hoses going into the firewall that carry coolant. If one is smokin hot and the other isn't, then that's the problem. Post you results.

For a 96 Saturn sl1 how can you check to see if the electric fan is working properly?

Open the hood. Start the car. Let it run at idle for awhile. Eventually your temp gauge inside will get up around to the halfway mark. Around the point you should hear it click on. You really can't not hear the change. Than your coolant gauge should go down to the 1/4 mark. If it continue to heat up, your fan might be working but your thermostat might need replacing.

How do you bleed all of the air out of the cooling system on a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3.1?

on the side of the thermostat housing there is a small screw with the motor is running make sure the heater is on loosen the screw let the water run until you see a steady flow then tighten back up.

I disagree with the previous poster. The cooling system is bled by loosening the screw on the metal pipe just behind the water pump housing. The pipe goes upward off the housing and has a bleed screw on the end of it.

To Bleed the cooling system, turn the heater to full hot and open the screw and add coolant to the resevior until you get a bubble free flow of coolant from the bleed screw. At this point the system is bled and just tighten the screw.

How do you stop a fuse from blowing when you hook up the battery?

While hooking up a battery make sure to connect the positive cable first, then the ground. If you have been doing it that way and you have a fuse that keeps blowing you have a problem in the circuitry after the fuse. Some short in the wiring or problem with a device is causing the fuse to blow ( thankfully ) rather than destroy something else or completely drain your battery.

How do you add antifreezecoolant to 1992 Ford Explorer?

Add the 50 / 50 mix of antifreeze and preferably distilled water to the engine coolant reservoir on the drivers side of the engine compartment ( carefull you don't put coolant in the windshield washer fluid reservoir - they are side by side ) or , if the engine is completely cool , you can remove the radiator cap and add directly to the radiator , and then re-install the radiator cap

What fuse do use to fix the heater?

depends on your car

look at the fuse box cover. locate the blown fuse on the diagram and there should be some numbers e.g. 5A, 10A, 15A, or 20A. once you have this go to your local car store and by a 5A or whatever fuse. even better... take the blown one out and take it in to the store...

Is it normal for AC water condensation to be oily?

No. You may be leaking engine coolant from the heater core or leaking refrigerant oil from the AC evaporator.

How do you turn on defroster?

In most cases controlled by rear window defogger switch
