What would cause a 94 Isuzu rodeo 3.2 to lose coolant and over heat with no visible signs of leaks?

There are a few things that can cause this, smell your exhaust if it is sweet or you can see vapor or fluid then you probably have a head gasket problem. If not then check your radiator cap, it may be broken and allowing fluid to run back into the overflow can when the system pressurizes when you are driving so you might not notice it, also if your thermostat is plugged or frozen shut yopu will overheat and lose a lot of coolant to steam evaporation through the cap. Either way you will have to observe the system while it is at operating temperature and pressure to determine the problem area, always start with the easiest or least expensive option and work your way up. Its not unheard of for a radiator to have a small hole that only leaks under pressure so look carefully and you will find it,fluid cannot leave that system without leaving a trace somewhere.

How do you reset the check engine light in your Isuzu Rodeo?

You need an OBDII reader, I got mine at Auto Zone (can't think of the brand right now, but it's orange and was about $150), I've seen them for less, though and they work on all OBDII cars. Follow the instructions, write down the code incase it keeps returning, then erase the code and the light goes out. Good luck!

You can also try disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes and then reconnecting it. It should clear it out. It worked for me. However I would go to Auto Zone first and atleast have them check the code. They will do it for free and at least if it comes on again you will know if it is the same problem.

I did the battery thing after having it checked at Auto zone and it cost me nothing. I then went and passed my emisions test.

Why wouldn't your Rodeo engage in 4-wheel drive?

I'm having the same problem on my 96 Rodeo. After 4 mechanics it is still not working. I've replaced the transfer and differential swithces to find that they were good. The only dealer in my area said it was the solenoid's.....tried replacing that and still nothing. Hope someone has a better fix than I....since im still without.

How do you fix timing belt on Isuzu Rodeo 1999?

how do you fix the timing belt on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo?

You didn't say whether you had a V6 engine or a 4cyl. Here is the procedure for a V6, 3.2L for 1998 - at least 2002.

This is not an interference type engine, thank goodness.

here is the process for timing:

It sounds like you moved a cam shaft independently of the crankshaft or so you will need to do all these procedures:

1. Turn the crankshaft until the notch on the spocket is lined up with the mark on the oil pump housing (the mark is on the driver's side at 90 degrees to the sprocket itself).

2. Back off the crankshaft counterclockwise 1/8 turn to ensure the pistons aren't at top dead center. This gives the valves room to move without too much compression resistance.

3. Turn the passenger's side camshaft until it "jumps" into place with the alignment mark on the camshaft pully being lined up with the mark on the engine head. You may have to turn the camshaft 9 turns. But when it lines up it will be obvious.

4. Turn the driver's side camshaft clockwise until it "jumps" into place but is 90 degrees before(at the 9 O'Clock when you consider the timing mark is at the 12 O'clock position) the timing mark being lined up. Then gently move the camshaft until the marks line up.

5. The idler pulleys and tensioner pulleys should be installed on the engine but the tenioner pulley adjuster (it is a little cylinder with a rod coming out of it that is held in place by 2 bolts) should be removed.

6. Line up the crankshaft notch with the mark that is at 3 O'clock. Place the new belt on the camshafts first, lining up the belt timing line with the marks on the pully and head. Place a clamp on the belt over the cam sprocket to keep them from moving. Be sure the arrows on the belt point in a clockwise direction. Now you can wind the belt around the pullys and align the line on the belt with the timing mark on the crankshaft at the 270 degree point (opposite of the notch and factory mark at 3 O'clock). There should be a factory blue dot on the crankshaft where the belt dots should line up. Do not worry about lining up the crankshaft marks at the 3 o'clock position as they will be a notch off if the blue lines are lined up on the opposite side.

7. Insure that you have looped the belt around the tensioner pulley, around the passenger's side cam, under the water pump, around the driver's side cam, and finally around the idler pulley. Check all alignments.

8. Put the tesioner adjuster in a vise and squeeze it together until you can place a small drill bit or Allen wrench through the holes to keep it compressed.

9. If all lines are aligned and the play is removed from the driver's side then this step should be easy. Hold the tensioner pully against the belt and install the tensioner adjuster. Then pull the dril bit or Allen wrench to release the adjuster. Sometimes this step can be a bit tricky and you may need some moving of the belt to allow enough play to get the adjuster in place. This may move the passenger's side alignment. If so, you will need to try it again. I find that if you move passenger's side alignment mark clockwise by one tooth of the sprocket, then when you go to put the tensioner in place it lines up. You may find other tricks to overcome this challenge. Remove the drill bit or Allen wrench.

10. Once you think you have everything lined up. Use a wrench to turn the crankshaft sprocket 2 full turns. Listen closely and feel for any hard resistance as you do this to determine if the pistons are hitting the valves. If you believe they are hitting each other then repeat the adjustment procedure. Although this isn't supposed to be an interference engine, it is always a good idea to do this step just as a matter of habit.

11. If everything seems OK you can try turning the engine over with the ignition. If it doesn't start, don't keep trying. Assume you need to perform the steps again and realign everything.

Where is the computer located on an Isuzu Rodeo?

If it is a 4 cylinder, it's underneathe the radio. If it's a V6, it's in the engine compartment behind the air filter housing.

How do you replace the Starter on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD?

StarterRemove starter on a 1999 rodeo 3.2 v6 first this is no easy task you will need torches and air tools unless you really have ALOT OF PATIENCE ! Disconnect the + red post on battery. Jack up left side (DRIVER SIDE) secure vehicle with stands or blocking ! Spray the 3 bolts mounting the exhaust pipe to the manifold with a good pentrating oil.Unplug the 2 oxy. sensors on the pipe you'll be removing ( be careful not to break the clips on them) Get a thin sheet of metal cut it to fit up in front of fuel tank so no sparks can get on tank (GET A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER)( if you have a fuel leak you have to take care of that first!) after confiming there is no fuel or other combustibles in the area torch off the weld nuts on the rear side of the flanged pipe be careful not to damage flanges take a hammer and drive out bolts. Now move to the front of pipe room is limited i used several 3/8 drive extensions a swivel, 17 mm deep well 6 point socket with a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter hooked up to a 1/2 breaker bar. These nuts are selflocking tight little Bas*#% glow them with the torch be careful that the heat from your flame doesn't burn any wires or hoses! Key here is BABY STEPS heat it turn it heat it turn it after a full turn has been made heat it and hit it with the air rachet. You can now move the pipe down and back far enough to remove starter.Remove the 2 10mm bolts holding on shield. Remove the 2 14mm bolts holding starter to eng.for one you must slide wire loom out of the way to get on it. The starter wires one wire you must push down on top of connector to release it. the other wire is a 13mm i believe. Starter is gonna run about $150.00 Check gasket and flange area at manifold & gasket at flange at rear pipe. I applied red high heat silicone and reused mine. Used new nuts (Couldn't find flanged lockers just used regular mm nuts no washers) and bolts with neversieze. This should be done by a profesional ! LOL!

How do you remove the hub and rotor assembly on a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo with 4WD?

Rotor removalI have a 1994 rodeo so it should be the same. In the center of the hub where the cv axel comes through there is a clip that needs to be removed then the first half of the assembly can be removed as 1 piece. next there are three screws to be taken off. then the nut the screws go into can be unscrewed and then the rotor should pull off.

Its nice when people leave out information. There are six bolts that hold on the hub outer housing, you have to take them out and take off the two pieces, there you will see the splined shaft from the CV axle. On my 91 there is an internal snap ring that has to come out for the hub clutch to come out. I recommend you go and get some snap ring pliers for this. After that is removed you'll see the spindle, take a paper towel and wipe off the flat part or the backing area that the clutch was resting against, you'll see three screws (Phillips head) that is in a ring, in a triagle pattern. Get a good screw driver to take it out and be very careful not to strip these. after that is out there will be a few parts that will come out, then will be the spindle nut. On mine it looks like a flat washer with two holes in it. I have found that www.summitracing.com is the only place that has the tool to remove this properly. None of my local stores had it. Oreilly's might have had it. You can remove it with a flat head screw driver and a hammer, but I recommend getting the tool to put it back in. Remove the caliper and use something to hang it to the spring, don't hang it by the brake hose, it can damage the hose and allow it to bust when you step on the brake. Then you can remove the rotor and hub, place your hand at the end of the spindle as the outter bearing can fall out when its pulled off the hub, the inner bearing should be held in by the wheel seal, the Rotor should be held on by six bolts from behind to the hub, the rotor should just come off after removing the bolts. As you pull everything off label them outside to inside and keep them in order to ease installation. When you put the rotor back on the hub the bolts need to be tightened to 50 ft/lbs. If you don't have a torque wrench then use a 3/8 drive ratchet and get it as tight as you can get it. It will be close to 50 ft/lbs. Now would be a good time to repack the bearings or replace them if they are wearing out. It is recommended to do so every 5 years make sure to pack them properly. And get new wheel seals if you change the bearings. Put the rotor and hub back on the spindle, follow that with the inner bearing. Then you need to put the hub nut on and adjust the bearings. This is much easier with the socket I said to get, but if you can't get it then use the flat head, Tighten the nut so that you can't turn the rotor and hub, then slowly back it off until the rotor and hub turn with little resistance, Make sure that the rotor and hub don't wiggle any, worn bearings can cause this, or backing the nut off too much can as well. Now you can put the caliper on if you wish, then follow up with everything that was removed putting on in reverse order that you removed, tighen the screws so that they are flush, and don't strip them. Then put the hub clutch back in and reaching from behind pull the CV axle to you and install the snap ring. It will be easier to put the ring on the axle and push it into place with a flathead while your pulling the axle. Then put on and tighen down the hub cover and put the caliper on if haven't done so. You can test operation by lifting all four wheels off the ground, do this with the front tires on, put it 4 wheel high and drive, just ease off the brakes until the front tires start turning, then step on the gas, after you hit 30 mph step on the brakes and make sure they stop, make sure you step on the brakes before putting it in gear to adjust the front brakes. Then put it in reverse and do it again. Then put it back in 2 wheel and reverse again if you have the auto locking hubs to disenage them. If you don't have them and have the shift on the fly then you can skip this since the hubs won't disenage.

Why your 4x4 wont activated in your Isuzu Rodeo?

Keep blowing fuses in your 1998 Isuzu rodeo running lights?

"Blowing" FusesFuses and Circuit Breakers are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] from short circuits and overload conditions which can cause extreme overheating which can result in damage to the conductors, and worse, the possibility of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle. When a fuse, and replacement fuses blow, especially if it happen repeatedly, is an indicator of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short. Do not install a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install a larger fuse would invite damage to the wiring and an electrical system fire. The proper "fix" is for a qualified technician, who knows what he/she's doing, to troubleshoot the circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse].

How do you replace the windshield washer pump on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier?

Remove the washer reservoir. The pump is located in the bottom. On some cars, the pump is permanently attached to the reservoir, so the whole reservoir will have to be changed, or buy an aftermarket pump, and modify the washer system.

What type of coolant should be used on a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo?

Rodeos use diethylene glycol but your best bet is to use the new extended life all makes all models coolant available at all parts stores.

How do you switch 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive on your Isuzu rodeo?

if you have "on-the-fly" shifting it should go right back into 2wd, get at a lower speed, then try. if not stop the truck put it in neutral shift the gear into 2wd position, if it doesn't go, hold it slightly there and try to put it in reverse. it'll catch the gear.

Where is th fuse for the tail lights on 1998 Isuzu Rodeo?

If it is the same as a 1996 it will be top row second from the front in the fuse box by drivers door.

Where is the low pressure AC port on a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo?

I don't know specifically about the Isuzu Rodeo, but generally it's off a larger metal-type hose, with a plastic cap over it. The plastic cap should have a letter "L" on it for low pressure.

If you are trying to recharge your system, the charging hose should fit neatly over your low pressure port, and not fit over others.

(I recharged my system within the hour)

How do you release the tension for a serpentine beltin an Isuzu Rodeo?

Don't know what year you have but try this:The tensioner is located above the alternator. If you have an 8mm Allen wrench, use it to turn the tensioner arm clockwise with one hand, and remove the drive belt with the other. If you don't have the Allen wrench, use any 15mm wrench instead at the tensioner pulley nut to achieve the same.

What are the timing marks on a 2.2L Isuzu?

Cams will point straight up to match marks on housing and crank will be at about 1 o'clock where mark on crank pulley will line up with mark on oil pump casing

How do you get the tire from under the 1999 Isuzu Rodeo?

there is a funny looking bar under your back seat that looks kinda like a square "S". One side goes inside the hole just between your bumper and bottomof the swing away door.Insert it and start turning away from you(towards the driver side) . And you will start to see the wheel begin to lower to the ground.Go all the way to the ground in order to flip the metal holder inside the tire up and out of the center of it. Then just slide out the tire.Reverse this process to roll it back up under the vehicle. Joe (St. Cloud,Fl)
