How do you remove the gear shift lever on a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo?

First you must remove the plastic assembly around the shifter lever. This will require a flat head screwdriver. There are 4 screws total, and two are "hidden" behind plastic covers on the front of the plastic surrounding. They can also be popped off using the screwdriver. After that, remove the "coin holder" and the plastic from around the shifter. Pull off the boot and shifter mat. YOu will need a 12mm wrench or ratchet at this point to remove the 3 bolts that connect the shifter to the transmission. After those are removed you can pull out the shifter and you are done.

Where is the reset button for a fuel pump for a 1994 Isuzu rodeo?

It's at the parts store in the form of a new pump The is no reset button but there is 2 fuses in the fuse panel under the hood One for start and 1 for run

What fuse on a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo do you look for when the power windows and the turn signal blinkers will not work and power window circuit breaker has not been tripped?

May be the BCM (computer)Just a stab in the dark, but check out your BCM (Body Control Module). Its a computer that controls a lot of little things like lights, blinkers, windows, door locks, rear wiper, ac/heat blower. its under the dash on the passenger side under the rug- a flat box with lots of wires attached. hope that helps- jeanne e Spain (JeanneESpain@AOL.com)

How do you get the starter out of a 1997 Rodeo?

Replacing a 1997 Rodeo starter"The starter on our 1997 rodeo was replaced a few months ago and our mechanic (also a family friend) had to lift the entire engine to replace the starter. He wasn't thrilled but it only cost us $300 to have the work done - that included the price of the starter."

$300 is probably not too bad of a price.

I recently had to replace the starter on my 1998 Isuzu Rodeo as it was getting the common "click click" when I turned the key. I picked up a remanufactured starter for $200 with a $50 refund for returning the old one. These are my steps for replacing my starter, but I assume close years will be similar.

Before starting, I recommend you leave the vehicle on a hard surface rather than putting it on a lift or jacking the entire vehicle up. It will cause less complications in later steps.

1. Remove the front left tire and the mudflap behind the tire. This will allow you to reach some of the starter wires and rotate it a bit easier.

2. Disconnect all the starter wires through the wheel-well that you cleared, and remove the two bolts from the starter from below. You may find it easier to gain access to the starter by removing a few heat shields by the exhaust manifold. The starter should now be free. You can rotate it and pull on it all you want, but it's impossible for it to come out.

3. Place a jack underneath the corner of the oil pan and start cracking it up. The goal is to lift the engine enough to allow you enough room for the starter to come out. Alternatively, you could try removing the three bolts from the exhaust manifold to allow yourself enough room, but I was unable to get mine to budge. It was a tight fit to get mine in and out, but I only had to raise the engine 1/2" to 3/4". I also had to push back on the exhaust slightly.

4. The starter should pull out with the sprocket facing downward, and the solenoid on the top of the unit, and towards the driver's door. As you can see, it's a tight fit.

5. Install the new one by reversing the steps, and good luck. It only took a friend and myself about 6 hours to figure these four steps out. Hopefully it'll save you some time.

When the contacts on my son's 97 wore out (2 1/2years ago) here's what I did-not that it's the right way.

1. Bought new contacts online for about $5 (I think it was at sherco?).

2. Diconnected the wires and mounting bolts. Dissassembled the solenoid from the starter while the unit was still in the car.

4. Removed the solenoid and the starter as separate pieces. I didn't disconnecting the manifold. I may have removed the shield- can't remember. I didn't do anything with the motor mounts or jacking up the engine.

6. Replaced the contacts in the starter on the bench and tested the unit. You might be able to find a different thread to lead you through this somewhere

7. Put the starter and the solenoid back into the car seperately. Assembled them together in place and then installed the mounting screws and the wires. I remember it being a little tricky to keep all the parts together while I was putting them back in - a little temporary tape might help.

This was a dirty job and took 4 or 5 hours but most of the time was spent figuring out this might work and trying it. The starter rebuild was easy in my case since it only needed the contacts. It has been working great every since -with only the $5 worth of parts.

I find those answers funny.....Remove the exhaust pipe from the truck Then you have loads of room. Removed the engine HAHAHA...Cut the exhaust bolts at the bottom where they join to the Y-pipe Remove the 3 bolts at the manifold and there you are

How do you reset the alarm on a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo it goes off every time you unlock the door?

We took ours to a friendly alarm dealer who pulled the horn off! Now it clicks quietly to let us know we've opened the doors. The alarm companies we talked to told us that because the alarm system is hooked into everything on these models, it's really hard to fix without messing up other systems. Our mechanics refused to touch it, and the one alarm company that was willing to try to fix is estimated a grand in repairs....replacing it can be touchy, because again, it's hooked into all the other electrical systems.

Where is a dipstick fo transmission oil Isuzu Rodeo 2001?

There isn't one. This is a sealed transmission, blame GM engineers for this brilliant idea.

What causes the turn signal on a '94 rodeo to stop working when the other turn signal and the emergency flashers still work?

If the turn signal on one side ceases to function, yet the other side continues you have a failed bulb. The flashers require a certain amount of electrical load. The 4-ways have plenty of load, even with one bulb out, because even 3 bulbs have sufficient load. But the turn signal has only 2 (usually) bulbs, one front, and one rear. To find the burned out bulb, engage the 4-way warning lamps, and walk around the vehicle, and inspect for one that doesn't light up. When you find one, replace it. Your turn signals should now work fine.

Is it possible to put a snorkel on a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo?

it is possible to make a snorkel for a 1996 Isuzu rodeo. most snorkels are home made by just extending the air intake through the fender of the car using PVC piping and what is called a "hat", which is the tip containing a filter to block debree and dirt. making a snorkel requirs alot of measuring.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo 2wd v6?

Okay, here's the deal.......Remanufactured alternatrs are said to be a real waste of time and money. They have various different problems. Unless you can come by an OEM alternator, remove your old one, get it rebuilt at a shop that will do it, and go from there.

First, you gotta get under the car. Under the alternator is a horizontally-pointing bolt. You use that to adjust tension on the alternator belt, so loosen it up to the point where you can slide the belt off of the pulley. Then, you have to undo that little tensioner slide assembly so that it comes apart-check for the bolts attaching this assembly to the alternator and remove them. Finally, the pivot bolt on thetop of the alternator-remove it and the alternator is ready to come off. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE PRIOR TO ALL OF THIS!!!!!!! also disconnect the leads to the alternator and it's free and clear. Take it to a shop, get it rebuilt, and go from there!

Where do you put the transmission fluid in at on your 2000 Isuzu Rodeo?

there is 2 bolts 1 in the center that's your drain plug. and the other on the rear left or right corner that's the "overflow" plug that's where you put it in you just kind of do it until it starts to come back out, the dealer says to use a "temp guage" but blah its not a fun job either way i ruined mine by over filling it and clew a piston retainer seal which was warranteed luckily under the power train warrantee

AnswerThere are 2 plugs (same size), one is Oil Drain Plug and the other one is Oil Filler Plug(about 2 inches higher and 10 inches away from the Oil Drain Plug).

With the Oil Drain Plug closed, engine off, use an Oil Pump (cost about $12) to pump transmission oil through the Oil Filler Plug (about 2.5 quarts) until oil comes out of the Filler Plug.

Turn engine on (wait for few seconds to have the engine suck the oil up), and pump the transmission oil again (this also takes about 2.5 quarts) until it comes out of the Filler Plug.

Tight the Oil Filler Plug (with the engine on). You are done.Total transmission oil needed will be about 5 quarts. Before you start, you should buy an Oil Pump first.

Can you use a oil dip stick from another engine for your 98 3.2 V6 Isuzu Rodeo?

If it's from another identical engine, sure.

If it's from a different kind of engine ... it may physically fit, but there's no guarantee that it will "work" in the sense of giving the proper reading, and it may even damage the engine itself (if it's too long and sticks into some place it's not supposed to be).

Could it be a bad fuse if just one power window doesn't work?

Odds are, no. It's most likely the motor, or a blown/grounded wire in the system. If you hear a "click" when you try to raise/lower the window, power's getting there but the motor might be fried. Also, if it was grinding prior to quitting, the bolts might have come loose (especially if the vehicle is old. Constant vibration will sometimes cause bolts to loosen on their own). Pull the panel and see what's going on in there.

How do you replace the Starter on a 1996 Isuzu rodeo six cylinder?

StarterRemove starter on a 1999 rodeo 3.2 v6 first this is no easy task you will need torches and air tools unless you really have ALOT OF PATIENCE ! Disconnect the + red post on battery. Jack up left side (DRIVER SIDE) secure vehicle with stands or blocking ! Spray the 3 bolts mounting the exhaust pipe to the manifold with a good pentrating oil.Unplug the 2 oxy. sensors on the pipe you'll be removing ( be careful not to break the clips on them) Get a thin sheet of metal cut it to fit up in front of fuel tank so no sparks can get on tank (GET A FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHER)( if you have a fuel leak you have to take care of that first!) after confiming there is no fuel or other combustibles in the area torch off the weld nuts on the rear side of the flanged pipe be careful not to damage flanges take a hammer and drive out bolts. Now move to the front of pipe room is limited i used several 3/8 drive extensions a swivel, 17 mm deep well 6 point socket with a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter hooked up to a 1/2 breaker bar. These nuts are selflocking tight little Bas*#% glow them with the torch be careful that the heat from your flame doesn't burn any wires or hoses! Key here is BABY STEPS heat it turn it heat it turn it after a full turn has been made heat it and hit it with the air rachet. You can now move the pipe down and back far enough to remove starter.Remove the 2 10mm bolts holding on shield. Remove the 2 14mm bolts holding starter to eng.for one you must slide wire loom out of the way to get on it. The starter wires one wire you must push down on top of connector to release it. the other wire is a 13mm i believe. Starter is gonna run about $150.00 Check gasket and flange area at manifold & gasket at flange at rear pipe. I applied red high heat silicone and reused mine. Used new nuts (Couldn't find flanged lockers just used regular mm nuts no washers) and bolts with neversieze. This should be done by a profesional ! LOL!
