Should the timing chain on a 1995 Isuzu Trooper be replaced after 100 thousand miles?
It's actually a timing belt and the recommended interval for replacement is every 50,000 miles.
How does one determine the cause of Isuzu Trooper 3.5 liter oil problems?
Usually oil burning problems are caused by either worn rings or failed valve guide seals. Either way, it will require an engine rebuild to solve those problems. Rarely, sludge buildup around the piston ring groves can capture the rings and oil can leak past the rings, causing the engine to burn a lot of oil. In that case, there is an extremely low possibility that you can run some solvent through the oil, then run the engine for a brief time and drain the oil, hopefully washing out some of the sludge and get a little improvment... but don't count on it.
What is the power and winter buttons for on the 2000 Isuzu troopers console?
I know this question has been answered before several times because I supervise the Isuzu topic, but here it is again. Power is for regular driving conditions and is where it should be set normally, winter sets the start off gear in the transmission to 2 instead of 1 so your tires will not spin on ice or snow. ( the higher gear and lower torque gives better traction )
Is the fill plug for the transmission oil in a 1998 Isuzu trooper under the vehicle?
it is on the transmission pan...you have two....its the highest one....the other is a drain plug...
How do you replace the starter in a 2001 trooper with 3.5 liter motor?
You take it to a shop and pay through the nose. The only way to get the old starter out is to take it apart inside the engine compartment and remove it piece by piece. The new starter then needs to be disassembled and placed inside the engine compartment piece by piece, reassembled and then bolted into place. This job is not difficult, but is very time consuming and frustrating due to the lack of space. If you have the time and inclination to try, it can be done, but for me it was more worth my time to take it to a shop (needed the vehicle to get to work).
1994 Isuzu running out of fuel when fuel tank is half full?
If you are sure the tank is empty and the fuel gauge is reading half full, then there is something wrong with your fuel level sending unit located inside the tank on the driver's side of the vehicle. Probably the variable resistor.
How many oxygen sensors does a 2000 Isuzu trooper have?
If the Trooper has the 3.5L v6, there are 4 SO2 sensors. There are two banks right and left, or bank 1 and bank 2 respectively. Then there is a sensor upstream from the catalytic converter on each bank (sensor 1) , and one down stream (sensor 2).
Hope this helps/
What is the part name for oil dipstick tube?
Hi, I believe that Isuzu calls it an oil gauge tube or close to that, but you can go to http://www.myisuzuparts.com and input your specific vehicle information to find out what is needed for your vehicle. In the Veh. I.D. box you only enter the last nine digits of your VIN number. There are all kinds of diagrams with corresponding numbers to parts with their numbers listed also below the diagram(s). This site is supposed to be being taken down by Isuzu. Maybe if all of us Isuzu owners write or call them we can get them to keep it up. It is full of information not obtained elsewhere due to you can get vehicle specific parts listings with names of item and parts numbers for cross referencing.
You may have to enter it as Sensor: Crank position due to the setup of the sit. That is, once you have picked the proper category when on site, as it gives a group of choices to choose from. I believe this falls under electrical, but I may be wrong as Isuzu lists different than what I am used to. Try different ways and see what it pulls up, you are bound to locate what you need, I know it is there some where.
I own A 1995 Isuzu Trooper 8 cyl. I have been having the same problem and with much research and what-not i have found out the Oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, as well, because i have waited so long to replace it, the Catalytic converter now needs to be replaced. I hope that your car has not gotten to this point because the cost to replace the catalytic converter is $700+. the cost to replace the O2 sensor is $270+. The cost to replace the sensor yourself is 40 dollars and the cost of the converter itself is 80 dollars. I know the sensor is fairly easy to replace but i have no idea about the converter. I hope that helps.
How do you change the front brake discs on a 2000 Isuzu Trooper?
I believe, you have to remove the caliper and bracket. Then remove the axle nut. All the bearings will come off. A very messy project. They are not just knock off rotors like most cars.
How do you change the headlight bulb in your 2002 Trooper?

Ground the factory hood pin so that the vehicle thinks the hood is open, it will never arm again.
What is the wire that comes out of the positive battery cable attachment on my 1990 Isuzu Trooper?
If it's a heavy gauge (around 8 AWG IIRC), that's the charge wire to the alternator BATT post.
The larger cable (about 4 AWG) goes to the starter.
How do you change front brakes on a 1999 Isuzu Trooper?
Not sure when you posted this, but a brake change is fairly easy.
1. remove lugs and wheel
2. remove screws that hold brake caliper in place. typically, there are 2 screws and they are usually a booger to get out. Nothing a little elbow greasy can't handle.
3. after caliper screws have been removed, carefully turn caliper over exposing brake pads. You are somewhat limited in the position of the caliper as the brake fluid hose is usually not very long and typically very rigid.
4. Carefully remove old brake pads. Place next to new pads, this will help you keep track of where/how the new pads should be installed
5. Using a C clap (3' or greater in size), clap down one side of the caliper piston. Although very slow, the piston will want to close on you. Once it does, it is a bear to complete the job without relieving fluid pressure. To avoid this scenario, use the C clap to keep the piston from closing.
6. Install new pads using the old pads as guides.
7. Replace the caliper and screws
8. Replace the wheel and lugs
9. Drive off into the sunset (it is advisable to put the car in reverse, while holding the break, give it some gas and back up for approximately 20 feet. This will help you avoid the squeakiness that occurs when you put on new brakes.
I am not a pro, but mine broke the locating pin on the cam pully, which altered the cam timing. Luckily the valves do not touch the pistons! The engine was pulled and ready for rebuild when it was found. I rebuilt it anyway.
Replacing alternator on j30 infinity?
This one is fun (yes, I'm being sarchastic). The easiest way is to remove the splash panel from the bottom and work from underneath. Otherwise, you have to pull the air induction system, battery, fan blades, and fan shroud. Remove the belts, beginning with the power steering unit. My J30t was a mother to loosen enough to get the belt off. When I put it back together and started the engine, I noticed that the power steering hose was leaking. To make matters worse, it locked me out of the car! I was able to pick the lock and get it turned off before it fried the pump. You might want to use a helper or roll all of your windows down for that trick. After the power steering hose is off, you can go after the A/C belt by loosening the idler pulley. Now the alternator is yours for the taking. Have fun. Steven

What weight of oil does A 95 Isuzu trooper take?
I have a 95 Isuzu trooper 3.2 dohc. --On line you can bring up the chiltons manual through the library (for free) here in Washington. -You just need a library card. When I was looking at the recall and revision page in the chilton manual it had an entry of a revision for the oil type to help remove the ticking in the engine that is caused by a varnish build up of the oil and it suggest to use 0w30 to get rid of it. I don't know what the normal is though it is probably 5w30. Hope I was able to help.
My CC went out the same time my brake lights did...replaced the fuse for the brake light and the CC worked again. Would be nice if they told me in the manual that the two are related. Also, when this fuse went out they weren't able to test my system because they weren't getting a signal from the computer...so it didn't pass inspection. All it was...was that $1.00 fuse and now everything works. The auto mechanic didn't even know this.....
What axle gear ratio does 1996 Isuzu trooper have?
There are four ways to find a ratio.
1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.
2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement
info.
3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.
4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.
