How to Jump terminals on a starter solenoid?

on the starter/solenoid,there is a heavy cable coming from battery.also there is a smaller wire. using a screw driver, u need to make a contact between these two wires. generally the smaller wire is a push on connection and will need to be slid back a little to enable contactof bare metal on the conector.remember to push wire back when started. if little wire has a nut securing it just make contact between that and the heavy terminal.also MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS IN PARK,OR NEUTRAL AND PARK BRAKE APPLIED.ignition switch must be turned on to start. There usually is a lot of sparks and you don't want to leave the connection too long, maybe a couple seconds, or else you will never be able to have the screwdriver back (It will weld it there)

Will a cj7 hardtop fit on a cj5?

The CJ7 was 10" longer than the CJ5. Most of the additional length was in the rear portion of the vehicle, so even if you wanted to modify a CJ7 top to fit it would mean taking out and replacing the windows and shortening the top. Way more work than it's worth.

Keep looking for a CJ5 top, or go with an aftermarket top instead.

How do you wire three 12 V batteries to make 36 V?

The batteries should be wired in series. Electrically, it looks like this:

Positive lead to car (+ -) ----- (+ -) -----(+ -) Negative lead to car

Each set of parentheses represents a battery, the dotted lines are wires connecting the middle battery to the battery on each side. This will give you 36 volts at the positive and negative leads going to the car.

The other option is wiring in parallel, which gives you 12V, but triples the load capacity.

In what position should your four wheel drive gear shift be in to just drive your 83 cj7 normally I moved it and now I can't figure out where it should be.?

It should be in 2H. Set it in "N" for neutral -you'll know when it's in neutral because the jeep won't go anywhere, Then shift it one cog "down" and that will be 2H. If you try to turn a corner in 4wd you will know because it will jump and buck.

How do you remove a broken dipstick tube that is broken flush with the engine block of a 1975 Jeep CJ5?

ANSWER; I would try a long thin magenet. If that doesn't work get something similar to the dipstic but a little thinner. If yiu can see the possition of the broken stick, take the thinner stick and put some type of glue on it and possition it against the broken one and give it time to dry. You could do both by putting glue on the magnet. You may need a cleaning solvent to spray down the hole to help with the glue OR drop the pan. BrittI had the same thing happen with my 85. most of the time when it breaks you can still see a little of it or you can feel it with a finger nail. if that is the case you can usually use a punch or a screw driver to ben the tube enough to grab it with a set of needle nose pliers. Other than that you can use a tap of the right size (not too big or you'll tap the block). drive it until you feel it grab and pull on the tap. hope this helps and good luck.

i took a bolt or screw that was close to the same size as the tube and screwed it in a bit , got it as tight as i possibly could , then i pulled out the tube, it took a couple of trys but it finally came out. beware it is longer then you think, i believe it was close to three inches fro mthe block down inside it. and its a pain tryingto find a replacment one , unless you hit a junkyard.

You may be able to bend a tight hook into the end of a piece of coathanger wire. Send it down through the tube, then pull it up to hook the end of the tube and pull the tube out enough to get a grip on it.

Location of 1984 Jeep CJ7 fuel pump?

if it is a 258 six cylinder go to passenger side of motor and it should be bolted to the side of the engine block just below the distributor follow the fuel line to the carburetor to make sure [Actually, I have an 84 with a 258 and mine is located to the right of my distributor... my oil filter is below my distributor; but, as was said above, go to your carb. and follow the fuel line when in doubt.]

How do you get twelve volts with two twelve volt batteries?

Voltage Options using Two 12 Volt Batteries

Each 12 volt battery HAS 12 volts in a stand-alone configuration.

If you want to "get" 12 volts and yet use both 12 volt batteries, then you hook them up in a "parallel" fashion.

Parallel connection means that a cable is used to connect the positive [+] terminal of one battery to the positive terminal of a second battery. And another cable is used to connect the negative [-] terminal of first battery to the negative terminal of the second battery. This configuration provides the same 12 volts, but allows greater current [Amps] to be available.

Another configuration ["series" connection] will create a 24 volt battery from the two 12 volt batteries.

Series connection involves the use of only one cable to connect the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the second battery.

NOTE: it is CRITICAL that you NEVER connect a cable or wire between the positive and negative terminals of the same battery, or series of batteries. IF this happens, a condition called a 'short circuit" occurs, and WILL result in gigantic sparks [arcing], much heat, and the very distinct possibility that the the battery will explode in your face!!!!!

What is the difference between a cj5 and cj7?

If you're just trying to tell the difference, the 5's have an "S" shaped door opening while the 7's have a "u" shaped opening.

The other difference is that if you're in a 5 and you pass a 7, you get to wave first. :)

Lambert's law for illumination?

This really belongs in "physics" or "optics", but there doesn't seem to be those categories. My best shot, given I'm not a physics professor: Lambert's Law says that the intensity of emmitted light from a surface is directly proportional to the cosine of the angle between the line of view and the normal to the surface. A Lambertian surface is a surface that follows this rule exactly. In practice, most surfaces are not perfectly Lambertian. This means that the light percieved from a Lambertian surface is constant, because while the radiant energy is smaller as the viewing point goes off 90° (straight-on; viewing angle = 0°; cosine = 1), the apparent area of the surface from that point of view is larger, so the same amount of light is percieved by the viewer.
