Well, I have an 84 CJ7 and there's 4 bolts on the inside of the Jeep, beginning roughly at my seatbelt/row bar and going all the way back... that's 4 on each side. Also, I have a plug that I must unplug before I remove the top and it's all the way in the back connected to the hatch. And, in the front, above the sun visors, I have a metal piece that has anywhere from 5 - 10 holes for screws/bolts (I don't exactly know since they're presently not used, but I can see where some of the holes "almost" line up with the holes they're supposed to be lined up with) I presume. This piece of metal was in the past riveted in... probably making my job of ever taking off my top VERY hard. I don't know how heavy my top is, but I'm not a big guy. So, if I was to ever want to take off my hard top, I would get another person to help me (even though the top is supposedly fiberglass). Are all cj hard tops the same? I have no clue.

you take the wheels off and burn it to the ground. its probably a pyle of junk anyways. you dont really wanna fix it. just burn it and buy a geo metro

Actually, 12 volts is a generic term. Your motor needs approx. 13.5 volts to engage the starter motor. Once the starter spins the flywheel fast enough to make the engine fire, the battery does not do anything else. Considering the alternator is working fine. The alternator runs all of the electrical components in and on your vehicle. In order to check if the alternator is working ok, crank the vehicle, making sure the parking brakes are set. After you crank the vehicle, you can remove either the positive or negative cable on the battery. If the vehicle dies, the alternator is bad and should be replaced asap. Be careful if you are doing this with a 90's or newer model vehicle. It's probably best to have it checked by someone.

CJ 7, the way to tell is the door. If you have a U shaped door that you can get in and out of easily, it's a 7. If you have to slide your butt over a part of the door opening it's a 5.

You've got to drop the fuel tank, or cut an access opening in the body tub over the fuel tank inlet. Besides the sending unit, you will almost certainly need the lock ring that attaches it to the tank also. There is the distinct possiblity the rust in that area is so bad the tank will need to be replaced.

Anything is possible, but one has to weigh the amount of modification required versus the benifits.
