More than likely your fuel filter is getting clogged up. Usually when a vehicle stumbles when you apply more gas it has either a clogged fuel filter, air filter, or exhaust pipe.

How do you install a CD player on a cj 5?
I installed the TUFFY brand console, front and rear speaker box's in my 1977 cj5. great fit and supports 2 - 5.25 speakers in the front and 2 6x9's in the rear and receiver in the console. also provides a lot of lockable storage. It will require speakers that will flush mount. I used the Boston acoustics's. Hope this helps.

Pry the seatbelt holder away from the bolts. Pull forward on the bottom of the seatback and then lift up. There are three brackets holding the back to the interior chassis.

Can you swap a 258 amc for a 304 how much trouble is it Is it worth the effort?
Answer : Well I will consider the fuel consumption anyways because we need less gas guzzlers out there already! Listen, the straight six is becoming a classic since it is not made anymore. A nice six cylinder engine looks fine and the project becomes even more interesting, what is it about v8 anyways! Enjoy your straight six and embrace it. It is America's only good contribution to the science of mecanics. All you have to change is one motor mount and move your fuel line You will also have to consider driveshaft length, exhaust, and leaf springs for the added weight. The trouble is deffinetly worth the effort. My 76 cj-5 304 is my secondary car, so I dont worry about gas mileage. Fun Car!! The motor mount is what is welded to the frame ... Or I believe if you longgate the holes in whats there I think it will work,, But if I was going tho all this Id go with a 360 AMC motor

How do you replace the power steering hose on a 83 Jeep CJ7?
The power steering pump end is straightforward. The steering box end is more difficult. When I did mine, I found I had to remove the radiator to get to the fittings, and they were so badly corroded in place I needed to remove the grill also, to get enough leverage on a wrench to turn them. While in the vicinity of the steering box, check the mounting plates that hold the steering box to the frame. They are not especially robust, and can rust and break. If you need to replace the mounting plates anyway, it might be practical to take off the steering box and drop it down below the bumper attached to the hoses, where you can get a wrench on the hose fittings.
Why wont the front brakes release on my 1978 Jeep cj5?
you had better check that out thoroughly, it isn't normal for that to happen.
Front and rears should be drum brakes, and theres really no valve to malfunction.
My first thought is that the cylinders have overextended and cocked sideways locking the shoes against the drum, this could happen if the shoes were extremely worn out, or the assembly was put together wrong.
Second thing to check isn't even the brakes, your front axle may be locked.
The next time the front brakes are locked up, open one of the brake bleeders up front. If the pressure releases you have a restriction in the hydraulic system such as a pinched brake line or a collapsed brake hose. If you open the front bleeders and the front brakes are still locked up and they are disc brakes, you may have stuck/frozen brake calipers or stuck caliper slide pins.
Why won't my Jeep CJ5 go into 3rd gear?
The biggest problems of why a jeep wont go into third gear is either that the shifting fork for third gear is worn or bent or the sycronizer or gear itself is worn out and needs to be replaced. Once you take the top of the transmission off where the shifter is located you can see the whole transmission gears and inspect the shifting forks. A general rule of thumb is to make sure the transmission is in second gear before taking the top off. This will make it easy to take off and rerattach the top of the transmission cover and align the shifting forks.
