User Avatar
I don't think she has any children. If you notice all celebs who have children have their children beside them on their twitter picture, or sometimes with them on the red carpet. And I haven't seen Julie with any kids on any of her pictures or even interviews. I'm not saying I know. I'm just thinking she doesn't have any kids.

Was it difficult getting into the role of Rita Bennett?

User Avatar
Yes and no. In some ways Rita is the most far-removed character from me that I've ever played, yet there is a part of her that exists in my most defenseless wounded places. She's me at my most vulnerable, my most insecure and possibly my most loving. It was a true gift to play her.

What was it like to be a part of Dexter one of the most popular TV shows of recent times?

User Avatar
Dexter was an amazing experience for me. I jumped through hoops to get on that show and I felt thankful every single day I was there. I've been off the show for over four years now and people still want to talk about Rita and her untimely death.
Asked in Julie Benz

Who has Julie Benz enjoyed working with the most?

User Avatar
I loved working with the women of Desperate Housewives! I was such a huge fan of the show and to work with Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and Dana Delaney-all women whose work had inspired me over the years was a real treat. I knew going into my time there that I was only going to be on for a handful of episodes, but I remember desperately wanting it to be longer! It was a great place to go to work.

Asked in Comic-Cons, Julie Benz

What will you have in store for Defiance fans in Comic Con?

User Avatar
A lot of fun! As a cast we take our panel very seriously as a time to connect with our fans, to hear what they like and don't like and we have some fun in the process! I personally cannot wait to see the Defiance cosplay this year. Last year someone made a hell bug costume from scratch, I leaped off the stage to get a picture with that guy because the costume was epic!
Asked in Science Fiction and Fantasy TV Shows, Julie Benz

What does Defiance offer that other science fiction TV shows out there don't?

User Avatar
At its core, Defiance is a character-driven drama wrapped in science fiction. I think it's a show that appeals to everyone, not just the sci-fi fans. The writers really take the characters to the edge this year, no punches are pulled and nobody is left unscathed. Plus, the female characters in the show are all very strong, complex, dynamic women-and some of the most dangerous characters on television!

What can Defiance fans expect from Amanda this season?

User Avatar
Amanda is on a dark path this season. She's addicted to "Adreno: Blue Devil" (an alien drug) and she's being manipulated by a lot of evil forces that she doesn't know about.

As a kid you were a prominent figure skater but an injury took you off that path Do you ever wonder what would have happened if you chose skating over acting?

User Avatar
No, never! I believe the universe puts things in front of you for a reason. When most would have been derailed by an injury I looked it as an opportunity to explore other things that I was interested in because my life up until that point had been figure skating 24/7. Figure skating has a short shelf life and I didn't want to risk being a mediocre figure skater in my 20's and end up trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, so I took the early "out" that the universe put in front of me.

Julie Benz has been involved in a large amount of science fiction projects. Is that a coincidence or is there a reason she's attracted to that specific genre?

User Avatar
I've always had a fascination with science fiction since my parents took me to see the original Star Wars movie when I was a kid. As an actor, I find the genre to be challenging on a creative level-the given circumstances are so extreme and it's up to the actor to make it believable. Plus, the female characters are more fully written, they're allowed to be more complex and bad ass than in mainstream television.
