Why does any car crank but not turn over. Plugs, timing, battery, fuel, whatever. Start where the ignition is. If that's alright, see if it's getting gas. You should smell gasoline while you pump the throttle.
Why will my Lincoln aviator not shift out of park?
I had this problem with my Aviator. I went to the dealer, and they wanted 3K for a fix. They claimed it was some doodad in the shifting linkage that Ford was well aware of but had not done a recall.
I found a reputable mechanic, and it turned out to be the brake light switch. He bypassed the switch as a test (under the driver side dash near the emergency brake) and it shifted out of park with no issues.
Ended up having it replaced for under 300. What happens is when the switch is faulty, it doesn't communicate to the on board computer that the brakes are being depressed. This prevents the release of the safety switch that stops shifting out of park without the brakes being engaged. You may want to check your brake lights to see if their working when you can't shift out of park. In my case, sometimes they would come on, but sometimes they would not.

Most likely, the problem is not a "Reset" issue. (And I'm guessing it's intermittent )
It is a mechanical issue. Inside each door, there is a small magnetic pendulum that is a proximity sensor and switch. It can become sticky and when it fails to move, the "Door Closed" is not confirmed by the system. The good news is that it is easy to fix.
In the latching end of the doors there are small openings in the area around the latch.
Blast a bit of WD-40 (using the tube) into those holes. It doesn't take alot, so don't go too crazy with it. The fix is immediate and will last a long time.

The thermostat housing is located on the lower right side facing engine block. Just follow the top hose down to it. You will have to remove the top hose. Then you can remove the two bolts connecting the housing to the engine block. The housing will also have the lower hose attached. Then trick is to now bend the housing down (lower hose still connected) down so that you can gain access from below. Remove the hose from the housing. Now the housing has two more bolts connecting the actual thermostat housing, remove them drop the replacement. Reverse the order to reconnect all parts. It is a very tricky procedure, so be patient...
