According to the Mazda website the starting price for a Mazda Miata MX5 is $22, 960. That is for the Sport model and the price goes up as high as 28,400 for the PRHT Grand Touring model. You may find dealerships that will start it out a lower price or the dealerships in your area could have a higher starting point.

It is hidden behind a plastic shield underneath the car, just before the rear, on the passenger side tire.

You can still drive the car, but your odometer will not move without the speedo cable attached. Make sure you disconnect the cable from the gauges and where it connects to the engine.

Assuming we are talking about the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), the 1997 Miata -- (and presumably earlier years) locates this switch on the rear of, or perhaps internal to (I don't know), the speedometer. Examine the schematic for your Instrument Cluster and look for a reed switch labeled Vehicle Speed Sensor. On 1997 Miata, one end is connected to Instrument Cluster connector C-01, terminal 2F, and the other end to ground. Essentially, as the speedometer rotates, the switch opens and closes, shorting terminal 2F to ground, thus creating a series of pulses proportional to the vehicle speed. In the 1997 Miata, this signal is used by the Engine Control Module, the Automatic Transmission (if equipped), the Cruise Control Module (if equipped), and the audio system (if a Type 2 OEM system is installed).

the iat sensor is located by the air filter in line to the the intake (the rubber hose between the filter and intake i have a98 s10 that i am working on that has a bad iat sensor you can tell it bad when you test it with a scan tool the one i had to replace was reading that the iat was at -40 below and it made my truck smell like gas

I have a '93 with a blinking airbag light. I have been told by a couple of repair places that the only way to fix it is to take apart the entire dash on the car which would be very very expensive. Mine has been blinking for three years.

The EGR is on the back on the intake manifold.

It is the same that happens on a lot of cars air conditioners. If the air conditioner is run on recirculate or max air conditioning, the condensor, the coils that deliver the cold, has moisture on them. When the car is shut off, the moisture does not have a chance to dry therefore mold and mildew form. Normally if you run the car on recirculate, if you go to outside air 5 or 10 minutes before you shut the car off, the condensor gets a chance to dry out and mildew will not form. If you car has been run quite a long time on recirculate, you might try running it for at least a week on outside air. It might clear your smell up. Otherwise go to a parts story and buy a spray, I can't recall the name, that is sprayed into the air intake by the windshield wipers. This is done while the fan or air conditioning is running. It is a chemical that kills the mildew. If you can't find it at a parts store, ask your dealer, any dealer, what they use. Hope this helps

needs two people. open windows, open the four catches (two in front, two at the sides of the hardtop. then lift hardtop over car, fit the chrome rear receivers on the hardtop over the two chrome pins behind the back deck, then let the front down over the windshield. go to the back, and push the receivers down and forward to seat the pins firmly within them. then, close the catches in front and on the side, securing them to the corresponding item on the car, to hold them secure. can be done by one person, but you may scratch the finish on the car. If you have the hardtop harness, no problem.

Rare problem... access the pump (under the package shelf) and check to see if it's getting 12 volts while cranking. If so, replace the pump. If not, start checking relays, etc. Could be the computer is not closing the relay because it doesn't know the engine is cranking (bad cam position sensor, etc.) I'd guess it's not the pump (15 years Miata specialist).

Looking directly at the engine, it is the small, black sensor on the left side of the valve cover. Simply unclip the electrical plug and remove the 10mm bolt. It will easily come out.

I took mine to radio shack and they did it for me! I've heard not to try and do it yourself

1999-2000 headlamps are about 5mm shorter in width, and 3mm shorter in height at the bottom.

If you want a perfect fit, you should also obtain a 2001-2005 bumper. If you choose to retain a 1999-2000 bumper, you will need a small rotary tool to shave a some of the bumper away where the amber signal lense is. You will be left with a small gap below the headlamp and bumper. Most people are not able to notice this, but discerning car enthusiasts will notice it.

The 1999-2000 headlamps use two headlamp connectors. One for the turn signal/parking lamp, and one for the H4 Hi/Low beam.

2001-2005 headlamps use three connectors. The signal/parking lamp is exactly the same and may be carried over. The low beam is the outer projector lamp and uses a 9006 bulb and requires a 9006 wiring harness. The high beam is the center bulb and uses a 9005 bulb harness. You will need to splice these into the existing, single harness.

1999-2000 bulb harnesses have three wires, you'll notice the middle one is thickest and will be shared by both bulbs. The 9005 and 9006 bulbs do not have polarity, so for each wiring harness, connect one to the thin wire, and one to the thick wire. You may choose to cut and solder the wires, but the very easiest way to easily connect them quickly is to use spade connectors crimped on the wire harnesses and plug them directly into the OEM harness.

The Check Engine Light on a Miata indicates there is a problem that should be diagnosed. It can be as small of a problem as not tightening the gas cap to general misfires that may cause subtle, long-term damage.

There are two ways to achieve this:

You can clear codes with an OBDII scanner that has this feature. You can purchase one for roughly $80-$120 and it takes 5 minutes, or you can go to a repair shop and they will clear it for you for a minimum of $40. But they will warn you of the problem and attempt to make a diagnosis.

The quick and dirty way is to simply disconnect the battery, pump the brakes to remove all residual power, wait for a few minutes and reconnect. It will remove the codes, but it will also cause the car to relearn your driving habits and environment. For the first few miles, the car will act differently than you are used to.

Note that if there is still a problem, the light will come on again after it completes a cycle of tests that will run after a few drives and miles on the car.

Also, depending on your local smog laws, if you have disconnected the battery to remove erase the problem codes and the vehicle hasn't completed its full round of tests, it will let the smog technician know if he/she checks for that and the test won't be valid.

Either one of three is usually occurring:

1. The spring is old/broken that pops up the lid.

2. The lid's hinge is stuck (rare)

3. The release pin is stuck/broken.

To diagnose 3, have one person hold the fuel lid release lever up inside the car. Then attempt to lift the lid. If you are unable to pry it, or risk scratching the car, clean the lid, and use a suction cup to lift it. If it does not lift, then you know that the release pin isn't working. You can remove the release cable from inside the trunk/boot if needed.

Typically, a stuck hinge, or a sticky release pic can be restored with a little silicone crease.

If the spring is broken or loose, you will just have to find a replacement.

The SGC and SGT signals from the Cam Angle Sensor CAS and tell the ECU how to run the spark and injectors.
