Mazda Miata is another name for the model Mazda MX-5. This model was introduced in 1989, and it is now in its third generation.

The blower is under the glove box next to the passenger door. There are 3 bolts that hold it in, and has a wire connector that needs to be removed afterward. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The ECU is situated under the carpet of the feet of the passenger. It is protected behind a metal plate.

Pretty big job (maybe 8 hours to remove and replace). The steering column ends up dropped down so far that the steering wheel is sitting on the driver's seat. The center stack must be removed (where the radio and climate controls are). The Mazda service manual is super helpful. I wouldn't want to do it without it. Airbag light on?

You won't find one. The Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring doesn't have a cabin filter.

If your car is left-hand drive, next to your left knee, near the hood release is a small plastic cover. Remove it, and you'll see the plug just above the fuse box.

Get a manual trans if you dont, weight reduce it, put in lowering springs so it reduces drag and other movements, put in a turbo and supercharger and a stage 3 racing clutch with a racing beat exhaust...boom a nice miata capable of reaching 7000 rpms and getting to 60 quickly.

Idler pulley takes up the extra slack from the serpentine belt.Serpentine belt, drives accesories from the crankshaft ie., usually,. water pump, power steering pump, altenator,air conditioner compressor. Older vehicles had separate belts for driving these componants and each had it's own adjustment location which was done manually,[which is why belts would schreech when loose] most of the newer stuff has idler pulleys which are self adjusting [spring loaded]the bad part is serpentine belts can be pricey and the bearing in the idler pulley can tend to wear out and the whole unit has to be replaced. L. Keedy It controls the routing of the belt. The amount of contact betwen a pulley and the belt determines how much power will be available for the alternator, power steering pump or water pump. One of the idler pulleys is mounted on an arm that is spring loaded to keep force on the pulley. It's called a tensioner pulley or belt tensioner. That makes sure the belt is tight and able to transfer power properly.

10w-30 or 5w-30 oil, depending on your climate.

Only if outfitted with a trunk popper. The switch to activate would be in the glove box. If not have one installed.

You need to remove the light assembly - it's really rather easy to do, nothing to worry about.

With the trunk lid open, you'll be able to see a Phillips head screw at the corner of the light assembly, remove it. Next remove the rear tunk liner by pulling out the plastic rivets holding it in. Grab the center of the push rivet with your fingernails and pull it out until it stops. Now roll it around and pull it out and the complete platic rivet and cent should pop out. I believe there are seven of them. Slowly use your fingers to pry the rear trunk liner from behind the sides of the other liners and pull it out

With the trunk liner out you should see a couple of small nuts holding the assembly to the back of the trunk. Use a 10mm wrench to remove both of them. After that unplug the multi-wiring connector to separate the light assembly from the wiring harness. You will have to push down on the release lever in the center of the connector to allow to pull free. Once free push on the rubber grommet where the wires pass through the back of the trunk. This will release the grommet from the hole it is in. it shouldn't take much pressure

Then the light assembly should be ready to come out. However, you may feel resistance as you try to pull the assembly out . This is due to a hidden push-in snap in the lower outside corner of the light assembly. Pulling out will release it as it is only held in by friction of the snap.

Twist to unlock the offending bulb and replace with a new one. Just reverse of what you just did to reassemble. Hope this helps.

Miata's tend to tick a little.You can try 5-30 oil at your next oil change but it's unusual for a Miata not to tick a little at start up.

make sure your tires are secured properly rims, wheels nuts u know You need to have your tires/wheels balanced. You also need to have the wheels/tires inspected. You may have a bent wheel, or a tire that is defective. A defective tire can be dangerous. A bent wheel will cause other problems such as wheel bearing problems. Have this repaired ASAP.

For the 5 spd. transmission:

Park the car on a flat surface, jack it up, placing it on jack stands to get space for your body

On the transmission's driver side, there's a square bolt on the middle, it's the filler bolt, after removed, put your finger in and if you feel the fluid is ok; otherwise it needs some, refill until it starts coming out, put the bolt back and clean the area.

In the center console, between the seats. Pull up on the release. Sometimes the door can get stuck. Have one person hold the release up, while a second person tries to gently lift the gas lid.

The rear pads are exactly the same as the front pads, with one exception:

There is a small, brass 10mm bolt behind the piston. It comes off very easily, and simply protects a small, 4mm Allen bolt. Loosen the Allen bolt and it will allow you to retract the piston.

Once your new pads are in place, you can lightly tighetn the Allen bolt back in and replace the brass protector bolt.

if you or a friend have a jack and jackstands, just lift up the rear tires, lower it onto the jackstands, and put it in gear. If your car is open diff, only power goes to one wheel so if you touch one tire it will stop and the other will continue spinning. If you do this and have LSD, both tires will still turn. You can also do it the quick way, lay down some rubber: 2 lines it's an LSD, one line it's an open "1 wheel peel"!
