The Menominee (Wild Rice People), who called themselves Mamaceqtaw, built two types of dwelling: small, domed birchbark-covered wigwams and larger rectangular bark-covered lodges. The lodges were used during the winter, with small hunting bands using the wigwams during the summer months.
Menominee named villages were recorded as Fort Howard (Green Bay), Keshena, Menominee, Milwaukee, Neopit, and Tokaunee, but there were probably many more. The links below take you to images of Menominee dwellings:
Usually the boy stands behind the girl and the girl swings her hips in either a circular motion, or a figure 8 motion; the boy will most likely follow her lead. Sometimes he will place his hands on her hips (or lower) or he won't use his hands at all. Assuming you're a girl, you can either place your hands on his (if they're on your hips), on your thighs, or you can reach back and touch his face. Make sure that when you're moving your hips you're bending over and in a kind of squatting position (but don't make it too awkward!). If you've been dancing with him for a while, you can lean back into him, (but make sure he's taller than you) and press up against his chest. Lean your head back onto his shoulder while still moving your hips. Then the guy will usually lean forward with his face close to yours or at least your neck. Note that you might think you need to do research or practice before going to a party, but it comes naturally to everyone. Most people go straight into it without knowing what to expect. But the overall thing is getting that butterfly flutter in your stomach when your parter and you are dancing close together. Have fun!
We are a tribe, not a clan. Duties traditionally were; Men patrolled the woods all day looking for game. Game includes Deer, all manners of birds and fish. Women attended the fires, gathered other foods such as berries, nuts. rice and tuberous roots. Women were also in charge of constructing clothes and other misc. tools needed throughout the day.

There are two words in Menomini that mean "family":
Men would braid the girls hair, and paint their nails, and cook for them. Girls would hunt and kill the animals since they were 4. Boys would only make soup all day. Women would sit back and relax, and would harvest tomatoes once a month when they felt like it.
The Menominee people have a reservation in northeastern Wisconsin, although there are several communities that refused to live there and maintain towns outside the reservation.

We are now contained in a reservation roughly the size of most counties in Wisconsin called the Menopminee Indian Reservation. Nice place

The name Menominee (not the real name of this tribe) refers to wild rice and it indicates a major element in their diet. They were also farmers, raising the usual maize, beans and squash. They fished for sturgeon from birch bark and dugout canoes; deer and eastern woodlands buffalo were hunted with bows, on foot.
Women collected wild plant foods - roots, berries nuts and various herbs.

Menominee women wore woven skirts. Menominee men wore breechcloths with leggings. Shirts were not necessary in the Menominee culture, but both genders wore mantles in cooler weather. The Menominee Indians also wore deerskin moccasins on their feet. Later, Menominee people adapted European costume such as cloth blouses and jackets, decorating them with fancy beadwork and embroidery.
