I can only assume that you need to know the location of each numbered cylinder. Standing at the front of the car, the rear head (closest to the firewall) from left to right is numbered 1-3-5. The front head (closest to the grille) from left to right is numbered 2-4-6. Number 1 spark plug wire on the distributor cap is the tower closest to and nearly pointing at the number 1 cylinder. The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.

It is located in the gas tank. The tank must be removed.

You will need to drain the water from your 1997 Mercury Villager cooling system. Remove the water pump belt. Remove the water pump hose. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.

Shift solenoids are inside the transmission.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, and the fuel tank must be removed to access it.

It's in the air conditioning low pressure line, basically running along the front part of the engine near the pulleys. There are two types, one kind has a screw connection that you can open to retrieve it, and one kind is embedded in the line and has to be cut out and replaced with a repair kit or a new line assembly.

Villagers can have keyless entry, either from the wireless fob, or a 5 key entry pad on the driver's side door. Both require programing from inside the car by following the owners manual, as it requires several steps requiring the ignition key and other operations to involved to list here.

chances are it's the modulator valve that's bad. the modulator valve helps build up pressure in the transmission to shift gears. it's usually located on the side of the transmission. it's silver and round like a fuel pressure regulator. very cheap to fix!

Two words.....Clock spring Where is the clock spring? The clockspring is located on the end of the steering column just below the steering wheel. The wiring for the items on the wheel are routed through the 'clockspring' so they wind and unwind as the wheel is turned. The airbag is included in this wiring so be careful if you mess with it and remove fuses! There may be more than one connector in there depending on model year so you may have a loose connector yet if the cruise is not working. I would check fuses for the cruise system before I messed with the closckspring again. You can change one of these yourself, but be very careful, as mentioned before the airbag circuit is in there and the 'spring' can become 'unwound' and you will have a mess on your hands. If in doubt, take it to a pro! ==Headline== I had the clock spring replaced on my 1995 Explorer this past Friday. I now have my horn, radio/stero and antenna back. My cruise control still does not work, but hey three out of four problems corrected for $82.00, plus $35.00 in labor is not bad at all. I would not suggest you try to change the clock spring at home. We were going to do it ourselves, but thank goodness we didn't try it. It isn't has easy as some make it out to be on the internet. First drive your villager's front wheels on ramps. chock rear tires. There may be some plastic shields you need to remove (mine lost most of them on the passenger side). Place a jack with a wooden block underneath the crankshaft pulley (please investigate if it causes any damage). I only made sure the jack kept the engine at the height it was and made sure it didn't move more than an inch or two. Loosen the engine mount bolts. Then remove cross-member. This one's tricky, I had to use an offset box wrench to reach the rear bolts because there are some gas lines in the way. Cross member is a tad heavy being underneath the vehicle, you may want to use a second jack to ease down the cross-member while removing/jiggling the bolts for the mounts. Reverse process to finish install. Good luck!

On my 2004 fxsti softail standard it's on the right side behind the lower framerail towards the rear not far from the rear brake light switch.

It's at the top of the transmission on the back corner.

Look for a very small grille on top the dashboard at the right, or else it's on a module behind the rear view mirror.

Did this happen suddenly or did hard starting come on slowly? Several things come to mind. If the car was bumped, usually a pretty good jolt, the fuel pump shut-off switch may need to be reset. (red button normally located in the kick panel beside the park brake) Fuel pump fuse blown.(located in the power distribution box under the hood) Fuel pump not working. (if the fuse is not blown, remove the gas tank cap and listen at the fill spout while someone else turns the key to the ON position. You should hear the pump run for about 10 seconds) Blocked fuel filter, blocked injectors, bad fuel regulator, non-existant signal from the computer to the injectors. (testing and/or replacement of any of these conditions is best left to your local garage)

Because of the complexity of this kind of job, it is strongly suggested that you buy a repair manual that explains it in detail. You need to loosen the axle nut with the car on the ground, raise the car, remove the wheel, unbolt the lower ball joint, tie rod end stud, strut lower through bolts, remove the brake caliper, then you can tap the CV shaft stud back and pull the spindle assembly free of the CV shaft. The driver side CV shaft can then be popped out of the transmission. The passenger side CV shaft has a carrier bearing with three bolts holding the shaft to the bearing. Do not try to take the bracket off the engine, it is not necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Look in the fusebox.

The 2000 Mercury Villager front door panels are held in place with two retaining bolts and eight retaining clips. Remove the retaining bolts and pry outward on each retaining clip.

It is usually locate on the firewall between the engine and the driving compartment. Read the owner's manual to understand where the wiper motor is located.
