Knock sensor codes on this vehicle are meaningless, the knock sensor does nothing unless the engine knocks. If you have this code there is more than likely a problem in one of the other emission-related devices, which often triggers this code first. My advice is to ignore it until another code pops up giving you more information about where to look. Do not replace the knock sensor, it will be expensive and will not stop the code from reappearing.

The Villager has two converters. The whole front converter/pipe assembly sells for around $300 or so, (NON-California), the rear converter for around $150, also NON-California. Generic converters can be installed as well by welding them into the existing pipes, this should cost no more than $150 each. California models require different converters certified for that state, and may also have additional converters attached to the exhaust manifolds. These can be VERY expensive, up to $1000 each.

Yes, there is a fuse in the fuse box, but it goes to the transmission inhibitor switch which provides ground to the inhibitor relay through the theft warning relay(if equipped). There is also a fusible link which provides power to the ignition switch. If the dash indicator lights come on then the link is probably alright. So, you could have a blown fuse, a faulty transmission inhibitor switch, a faulty theft warning relay, a bad inhibitor relay, or a bad starter motor.

This is located right behind the coolant. It helps you to determine if the car is staying cool enough or if you need more liquids.

MY first guess would b a ground problem-when U push the horn pad ,U are appling a ground-& there is a small ground clip on the steering coupler.IF te fuses are good. the air bag clock spring in the stearing coloum is open I had the same problem. check cruise control disconnect switch for power located on brake master cylinder. mine was burnt along with connecting wiring. new switch with wiring about $20. some model years have a recall currently. Most steering columns have a part known as a clock spring. This component has the electrical contacts which power the horn, cruise control and on some models... other electrical items. The part is generally between $50 and $100 from a dealer, but is difficult to replace due to the air bag and wheel having to be removed. I can't guarantee that's what is wrong, but it is the best guess... It seems the Windstar and Aerostars ar bad for this.

There isn't one. The engine sits below the radiator, one is not needed.

If you can smell gas it's very likely you have a leak somewhere. Even a small leak will produce noticeable fumes.

The marks are on the cam and crank sprockets, and on the timing belt. They all must match.

The knock sensor is in the engine V under the intake manifolds and coolant crossover pipe. As it requires considerable disassembly and an expensive new gasket set to reach it, I suggest you make very sure there is something wrong with it first. You will have to remove the upper and lower intake manifolds and coolant crossover pipe assembly to reach it. Just because you are receiving a trouble code for it does not mean there is anything wrong with it. This sensor shares a circuit with other components that often will set a "ghost" trouble code.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, and the fuel tank will have to be removed to access it.

There is a drain plug in the transmission pan.

Usually there are two small hour and minute buttons you push to adjust it.

There are many vacuum hoses, consult a repair manual.

Take it to a transmission shop and have it repaired.

Idle speed is set by the PCM and is not adjustable. The screw you are fiddling with is just the stop screw to adjust the initial throttle plate position, it should not be used to attempt to adjust the idle.

You have to pull the drawer under the radio on the floor off. Once yu remove that, you need to take the panel next to the gas pedal off. It is only 2 screws. The key pad brain if you will is right there. You will see a 5 digit code that says key pad code. Put that code in on the pad and within 5 seconds i believe, enter a new code that you will remember.

The 1994 Pontiac Grand Am ignition lock cylinder is held in place by the retaining ring at the top of the cylinder. Remove the retaining ring. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the cylinder.

It is inside the dashboard towards the center at the very back. It is VERY hard to get to.

just inside the rear door there is an opening in the carpet with a brass looking nut below. That is the spare tire raise and lower mechanism. The tire is underneath the van. Now this is a really stupid system because your van has been on the road for approx. 15 years and all the road debrise from the last decade and a half is now packed into the winch that raises and lowers your spare tire, so good luck with that. If you can get it to lower, you may not be able to raise it back into place. My spare has been under the back seat since about 2001.

There is no power steering in a Mercury Villager at start up in cold weather due to a failing pump or low fluid. Fluid becomes much thicker in cold weather and is much harder to pump.

Quick fact is that while the towing caps listed above are true any weight over aprox 2000 lbs will require some sort of sway control and at least 10% (15% max) of the trailers weight on the tongue. This is true with all short wheelbase vehicles. Also run max inflation on the tow vehicle tires to reduce sidewall roll. When I tow my 1700 lb. trailer, no prob, but my 2400 lb = probs before I increased the tongue weight by 40 lbs. and added a friction sway control. Hope this helps.
