What is the metric equivalent of a butt load?

Get a load of this...There is an exact unit of volume called the butt.

See Webster's dictionary:

Butt: a measure of liquid capacity equal to 126 gallons or two hogs heads.

From another dictionary:

An English butt is 2 hogshead of 54 imperial gallons each or ~129.7 US gallons (i.e., a UK butt is apparently slightly bigger than a US one).

A Spanish butt is based on a wine cask and is equivalent to 140 US gallons or ~116.6 UK gallons (i.e., a Spanish butt is bigger still).

So next time someone says they have a "butt load" of stuff, just remember, that is about two 55-gallon barrels worth of stuff.

To recap...1 butt equals:
  • 2 hogsheads (this is probably the easiest to remember for social occasions)
  • 476.961 liters
  • 126 gallons
  • 104.917 UK gallons
  • 13.5347 bushels
  • 0.131592 cords
  • 11.6574 firkins
  • 4032 gills
  • 21504 ponys
  • 4032 noggins
  • 1008 pints
  • 96768 teaspoons
  • 12.0308 ephahs
  • 1.58987x10^7 drops
  • 10752 jiggers
  • 16128 shots
  • 629.504 wine bottles
  • 630 fifths
And the punchline...One microbutt = 0.0968 teaspoons.

How is the metric system used in the medical field?

It's used by physicians, internists, surgeons, ophthalmologists, researchers, anesthesiologists, chiropractors, nurses, hospice workers, and physical and psychological therapists, to measure, express, and communicate the magnitude of forces, lengths, areas, speeds, capacities, and volumes, and the

duration of periods of time.

How many kilograms is 1 ton?

It depends what type of ton, there are 3 sorts of tons:

  • 1 metric ton = 1000 Kg exactly

    A metric ton is often spelled 'tonne' to distinguish it from the other types of tons.

  • 1 British ton = 1,016.047 kg (= 2,240 lbs). Also known as a long ton.
  • 1 US ton = 907.1847 kg (= 2,000 lbs). Also known as a short ton.

The answer above is precise, but there are some other possibilities for "ton" like short US ton, metric ton, British ton, French ton, Portuguese ton and Spanish ton that may be converted into kilograms (kg). The question does not precise in which system the term ton refers to. Here are some of the possibilities:

1 ton [metric] = 1 000 kg

1 ton [short, US] = 907.18474 kg

1 ton [long, UK] = 1 016.046909 kg

1 ton [France] = 979 kg

1 ton [Portugal] = 793.15 kg

1 ton [Spain] = 919.9 kg

1 t = 1 000 kg

How many centimeters are in a meter?

There are 100 centimeters in a meter.

In the metric system everything is done in multiples of 10.

1 kilometer = 1000 meters = 10³ meters

1 hectometer = 100 meters = 10² meters

1 decameter = 10 meters = 101 meters

1 decimeter = 1⁄10 of a meter = 10-1 meters

1 centimeter = 1⁄100 of a meter = 10-2 meters

1 millimeter = 1⁄1000 of a meter = 10-3 meters

1 micrometer = 1⁄1,000,000 of a meter = 10-6 meters

1 nanometer = 1⁄1,000,000,000 of a meter = 10-9 meters

1 angstrom = 1/10,000,000,000 of a metre = 10-10 meters

1 picometer = 1⁄1,000,000,000,000 of a meter = 10-12 meters

In everyday use, the most important of these are mega (106, rarely used in metres), kilo, centi, milli. To scientists/engineers, micro, nano, (angstrom 10-10) pico and femto (10-15) are also use

Is the metric system easy to use?

Yes it is in fact it is the easiest system of

measurement used by the entire world

except the United States.

The reason it is so easy to use is that there is a consistent difference between different measurements and that the names of different measurements follow a pattern.

Different prefixes mean that you have a different amount of a 'basic' measurement (meter, gram).

Example: 1 centimeter (cm) equals to 0.01 meters (m).

Example: 1 kilogram (kg) equals to 1000 grams (g).

The point is that it is easier to convert from, say meter to kilometer than from feet to miles, because one kilometer is 1000 times larger than one meter, but one mile is 5280 times larger than a foot.

What is the metric equivalent for psi?

Some one wrote; kpl

Have an idea what they mean but that is not correct.

Inches needs to be converted in millibars..

We take this from the aviation world where the USA altimeter is set in inches of mercury as in a standard day in science, 59F, 29.92 inches of mercury at sea level.

The metric altimeter would be 15C, 1013.2 millibars at sea level.

If you wish to see a chart that is current on the www. see this related link below;

To convert inches of mercury to millibars, multiply the inches value by 33.8637526

To convert millibars to inches of mercury, multiply the millibar value by 0.0295301.

Now you can solve for the answer. Oh the abbreviation we use of Millibars is mb.

The metric unit for pressure is pascals, One millibar is one hundred pascal.

What is the list of prefixes from lowest to highest for bytes?

The official SI prefixes for multiples have been altered to apply to bytes, where computers have used increments of 1024 (210) rather than 1000 as other metric uses do. The amended names are as follows:

Bit = 1 binary digit

Byte = 8 bits

Kibibyte = 1024 bytes

Mebibyte = 1024 kibibytes = 220 bytes or 1048576 bytes

Gibibyte = 1024 mebibytes = 230 bytes

Tebibyte = 1024 gibibytes = 240 bytes

Pebibyte = 1024 tebibytes = 250 bytes

Exbibyte = 1024 pebibytes = 260 bytes

Zebibyte = 1024 exbibytes = 270 bytes

Yobibyte = 1024 zebibytes = 280 bytes

(Unofficially, the term "brontobibyte" is 1024 yottabytes or 290 bytes)

Is Hector part of the metric system?

Type your answer here... No. Bcz One Hectare (not 'Hector') =2.471 Acres.1 Acre=43560 Sq.ft area. Foot is a unit of British system and measurement of length, while in Metric length is measured in meter (or metre to give it its original & standard French name). This system is also called SI (System International) of measurement.

here are two main systems are implemented in world,they are:--

1- FPS system----- Foot Pound System (British system).

F=Foot, P=Pound, S=Second

2- CGS system-----SI (International system of measurement)

C=Centimeter , G=Gram, S=Second.

In addition; there was a unit called the HECTARE, an are was 100 square metres,so a hectare (hecto=100) was 10 000square metres. When the the metric system was rationalised in 1960 to produce the SI system the are and hectare were dropped in favour of square metres. A rugby union pitch is roughly one hectare.

The SI system is the metre, kilogram, second.

The Hectare is still used, in the UK at least, for land measurement especially in agriculture.

The official system now is the SI (metre, kg, s and a few other basic units) and their derivatives.

What is the metric unit of length?

millimeter, meter, kilometer.... Meter

The SI unit of length is the meter (or metre). The SI system was once known as the MKS system (for Meter-Kilogram-Second). Additional information about the Metric System The purpose of the metric system is to have a single decimal-based unit of measurement for any and all physical measurements. Meters are used to measure length and distance, while kilograms are used to measure mass (and liters are used to measure volume). Seconds are still used to measure time. The meter. Meters, millimeters, kilometers= length

grams, milligrams, kilograms= weight or mass

liters, milliliters, kiloliters= volume

It really just depends on what you are measuring weight or mass, length, or volume.

* * * * *

grams, kilograms, etc are units for measuring mass, NOT weight. Weight is measured in Newtons.
centimeter and meter

most common measurements are millimetre (mm), centimetre (cm), meter (m) and kilometre (km)

10 millimetres = 1 centimetre

10 centimetres = 1 decimetre

10 decimetres = 1 metre

10 metres = 1 decametre

10 decametre = 1 hectometre

20 hectometres = 1 kilometre = 1000 metres

i dont know the flippin thing

The metric (SI) unit for length/distance is the meter. Prefixes will frequently be added to represent more or less distance.
The metre. It is defined as the distance light travels in 1/299 792 458th of a second
The meter, supposed to be one ten-millionth of the distance from the pole to the equator of the Earth. It actually missed this by a little, so it's now defined in terms of a certain wavelength of excited krypton.

The metre is defined in reference to the speed of light. One metre is the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum in the time period of 1⁄299,792,458 of a second.
