I found a couple. Steven Morin (B 2-19-51 D 3-13-85) was executed by lethal injection for killing at least three women, on in Corpus Christi. Morin, a long-time IV drug user, had almost no viable veins and it took 45 minutes to start his IV line.

Esteban Ruiz of Corpus Christi was serving a 40 year sentence when he was indicted for another murder and suspected of still another in the Corpus Christi area.

There are, although they seem to be in the minority. Jeffrey Dahmer is a good example. Although his parents fought almost constantly, young Jeffrey was never abused or neglected, nor did he come from an impoverished home. His father made a comfortable living and his mother stayed home to raise Jeff and his younger brother. Ted Bundy may have had confusion as to his heritage but besides a bad-tempered maternal grandfather he had a non-abused beginning. When compared to the childhood of Albert DeSalvo (Boston Strangler) the Dahmers and Bundys were unevenful. DeSalvo had an extremely abusive father and female serial killer Aileen Wuornos was abandonded by her young mother and left in the care of an abusive grandfather and alcoholic grandmother.

Nölle was a nurse and between 1984 and 1992 killed patients in her care using Truxal. Police think she killed a total of 17 and attempted 18 other murders, but she was only convicted of seven. She has never confessed to her crimes.

Most of the serial killers that had a successful career killing, were functional psychopaths meaning that they could go with daily life like anyone else and some of them had family like normal persons.

Mostly serial killers have a rough childhood and the crimes mostly unfold after they reach college or after. Serial killing takes some steps to bring it to a complete blossom. A serial killer that commmits serious junvenille delinquency would be an exception to the rule.

The most famous serial killer to me is Mary Bell, because she started in her crimes at 10 years of age.

I will tell you what. Right now authorities are not focused on a serial killer from New Mexico. But some discovered bodies near Galveston, Texas and some discovered bodies from San Diego, got to make authorities focus as New Mexico being the base of a serial killer. Maybe is a job that makes him frequent those two places which will be either 500 to 600 miles from home in each directions east or west.

The above is true but Ray could not count as a active serial killer. An active serial killer is a killer caring on his crimes and not known by the authorities. Even then, Ray has been locked up when most of the murders in Albequeque, Galveston and San Diego were committed.

Modis operandi (MO) is the method or pattern that a criminal carries out his crime. Many criminals can and do change their MO, sometimes to confuse police. A signature almost never varies. The signature is the phycological need that is fulfilled by committing these particular crimes.

Not that I have ever heard of but I do have an idea how this rumor may have started. The fine line between Hollywood and reality is easily blurred.

The only connection is the word Ripper. Jack The Ripper is the name for a 19th century serial killer that killed prostitutes in London's impoverished east end known as Whitechapel. The Yorkshire Ripper is Peter Suttcliff who was convicted of 13 murders in 1981. The New York Ripper is a fictonal character.
