Mostly corrosion. Rusting parts inside the dash, oxidized electrical parts (nightmare!), and mold growing in the seats and other hidden places. The air box in the dash is the only part inside the car that actually has a drain built in. Water can gunk up power windows inside the doors, freeze the mechanisms that make the seat belts work properly in a crash, and ruin the cardboard that makes the speakers sound good (a minimal concern, but true). A flood damaged car may also harbor harmful bacteria. Many mechanics in the south after Katrina became infected by various diseases when they got cut or scratched by the parts of flood damaged cars. If your car has flood damage, make sure you file an insurance claim! Flood damaged cars are no longer safe in any way.

on the cilynder head besides the engine

its under the passenger dash facing up there are 3 bolts to take out and un plug it then take it straight down re place s the opposit but mine did not have the sam plug on the wiring so i had to crimp splice them back together

There is most likely a yellow switch in the trunck on the left side (drivers side) to switch from auto to manual

On the right side of the engine, below the belt driven items. There are three bolts holding it in place, including a very long one that is attached through the bottom belt pulley. You will need to remove the radiator in order to get the alternator out. There is no way around it besides lifting the engine. It is possible to remove the alternator, but there is not enough room to maneuver the thing out of the engine unless you remove the radiator. Unless you are or know a handy mechanic in your family, you will need to pay to have this done. It takes about an hour and a half to do.

looks like a normal sensor, I have a 2002 intrigue, it is located just above the starter, you have to take out the starter in order to take it out.

1)First open your hood, and take off the oil cap.

2)Then go under the car and you'll see the oil pan. It has a big black cap on it that looks like little spokes. That's the oil pan. Remove the oil plug and let the oil drain into a container.

3)Next the big black cap thing, You'll have to remove that, becasue that's where the oil filer is at. Once you have that off take the old filter out and put the new on on.

Now to take the oil filter cap off you may need a special tool. Like a oil filter wrench or somther to big enough to grab the cap and twist it off.

4) Put the oild filter cap back on.

5) Put the drain plug back in.

6) Fill the enige with about 5.5 quarts of oil.

That's it easy.

Depends on the laws of the state or country in which your car is registered. Probably no.

I'd say no because now a days air bags tear out almost the entire front pannel of your car. It depends on the car but I don't think hey are drivable until the airbag is repacked.

I believe you can. It's just like a pre-1990 car now. Since airbags cost about $1500 to replace your car might be totaled. Whether you report/repair the damage is your business but if it goes through your insurance they might total the car.

secondary air injection system malfunction

This can mean a number of things, I have had this code for years and have replaced the injection motor, the shutoff valves (2 ea 1 on each bank of the motor), the 50 amp fuse, and one other item. If you dont have the intake relocation tube for the air injection motor it will just suck water and short out again. There is a TSB on this problem with suggestions to fix.

Hey Felecia, if you're going to change both front and rear, I suggest you get a shop manual on your car for about $18. It will show you how, as the rear ones have a bunch of springs and you need to remember how they go. Good luck, Joe.

Actually, there are no springs for the rear brakes on any Intrigue. They all have 4-wheel ABS disc brakes. The brakes are very easy to service on this model, just be sure and have a manual for all the correct torque specs.

It is pretty easy. 1.)Jack up the car and remove the tire. 2.)Open the hood and loosen, or remove the brake fluid resivor cap. 3.)Use a 6-8 " C-Clamp place it on the outside of the outter brake pad , and on the bolt that holds the brake line to the caliper.and tighten it . this will retract the caliper allowing room for the new pads. 4.)On the front brakes use a 15 mm box wrench ( rear brakes use a 14 mm)and loosen both bolts holding the caliperto the wheel assembly. 5.)Remove the top bolt. 6.)Swing the caliper (pivoting on the bottom bolt) out. 7.)Remove the old pads and insert the new pads. 8.)Swing caliper assembly in and replace the bolt. 9.)Tighten both bolts . 10.)Replace the wheel. caution caution caution. when you start the car DO NOT try to drive first thing. With the motor running and in PARK, pump the brake pedal repeatibley until you feel resistance. Otherwise you will take off and not be able to stop.last but not least before touching your pedal remember to tighten your cap on your master cylinder.

On a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue with a 3.5L engine it is behind the starter at the front of the car. .

I had to replace the Crankshaft position Sensor on my 99 GL with 3.5L. It was on the backside of the block directly above the starter. To get to it, I unbolted the starter from the transmission and dropped it down a few inches. The Crank sensor is mounted to the block with a single small bolt that is hard to get at, but you can see it. You'll need a fairly flat socket or wrench to work it loose as there isn't much room.

On a 2001 with the 3.5L it is located on the front of the engine, more to the drivers side than the passenger side. You will need a 15 mm socket and an 8 inch extension for the starter bolts. You will need a 10 mm wrench for the plastic shroud which helps support the starter, and also the sensor bolt uses the 10mm wrench as well. I found it easier to slide feet first under the properly supported car to do the work. The higher you can get the car, more arm room you will have as the sensor is in a kind of awkward space.

installing the mirror is simple enough. 3 nuts hold it on. the problem is that the electrical lead goes too far down into the door panel to get at it without removal of the door panel. that's the real problem and I can't find info on that without buying the chassis manual at $100.

they are under the coil packs which are in the top of the valve cover, unplug the coil packs, take out six bolts, the wires should come out with the coil packs and you will have access to the plugs.

For me, it was a bad contact between the front signal/DRL bulb and its connector. I cleaned the wire contact points on the bulb, and CAREFULLY used a pocket-knife to slightly bump up the contact wires from the bulb to ensure better contact. Worked like a charm on both sides when it happened to me on two separate occasions.

Bad news for you,the silhoute came out with bad head caskets i had to have mine replaced on my 2002 which only had 75000 miles on it cost $1600.00,gm would not make any of it good,gm mechanic said came out new with bad caskets but gm never put a recall on them.Canada has law suite against gm for this,will be my last gm product

It's a flaw in the passlock system, I've had it happening on my 2002 intrigue for a couple years where 'randomly' the security light will go on and the car will not start.

What I have to do is leave the key in the ON position for about 10 min. and when the security light goes on solid (stops blinking) you turn the key to the off position for like 5 seconds and then the car will start. Some kind of override I guess a thief would not wait there 10 min.

Totally sucks but I'm sure it costs too much to fix - seems to happen allot one month and then goes away for a while and then starts up again.

Apparently allot of GM's have this problem but it's quite random, some cars have it and some don't - never happened on my 99 intrigue except one time after the battery was dead.

Speed sensor. There is not a cable on this car.

The EGR Vavle is on top of the engine compartment. It is held in by only 2 bolts. Buy the part and you will be able to match it up in less than 5 seconds. Remove bolts,insert cloth into the opening to ensure no debris falls in, clean the surface (razor blade) until 100% clean, rmove cloth and install and yes there is a gasket. Total time is less than 20 minutes,most of the time was allocated for cleaning surface.

the driver side of the vechile has what is called a transmission. you can find one at a scrape yard and replace it. it is not the same as the transmission on your engine, but, that is what it is called. most people do not know this.

I had to change my wife's a few months ago. You have to take a couple maybe 3 screws out of the passenger side front wheel well liner.Turn your tires all the way to right first. Pull back the plastic liner(wheel well) near bottom front and you will see the pump. Pretty easy from there. Switch em.

Remove (or have a professional remove) the center console. The cup holder may or may not be repairable.

1. Turn the ignition to the on or run position,without starting the engine . 2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds . 3. If the oil soon indicator flashes 2 or 3 times ,the system is reset . 4. Turn the ignition switch to the off position after the indicator has finished flashing ,then start the vehicle.if the indicator comes back the engine oil life monitor has not been reset .repeat the procedure until you get it right www.youtube.com/gallito1010

I have Olds Intrigue 2000. Lately Blower started acting up. Stops working, an hour later it will start working again. Making shrieking / squicking sounds, speed changes

while driving. Using 5.5 mm socket I removed the old motor. (Not very difficult.)

Wiring harness is a bit tricky to unhook. (!!!Do not touch the orange clip!!!)

Use screwdriver to push In the Black Clip.

Inside the old motor I found brushes are completely worn out. Needed new motor.

Replacement Motor:

In Riverview Florida: Napa and Pep Boys have Chinese made blower, just different stickers on them. In my case Napas had wrong connector type, Pep Boys unit had no connector at all.

Local Chevrolet parts department and Advance Auto Parts had similarly looking unit

with more or less right connector type, just different stickers. Both made in Canada.

an hour at most; it sits under the glove compartment. several screws hold the carpet cover underneath.. once that is off you will see the motor with a hose and the wiring harness, disconnect both. if the motor was squeeking prior to this then it's the bearings that have dried. it may have seized. if you have some time and patience you could try oiling them again by dropping oil onto the shaft and letting gravity soak into the bearing area (plus turning the shaft). reverse procedure to install...
