Where can you find trunk vents for 1986 Fiero GT?

You can try wrecking yards, I got a couple spares for my 85 GT from Pick-n-pull

"The Fiero Store" lists them as in stock, they are a great on-line resource for a lot of stuff.

How do you adjust idler to 1985 pontiac fiero?

There is no idler pulley on this year Fiero so you must mean Idle Speed.

It is most likely that if the idle is high and it wont slow down automatically, 1500 or so, that you have a cracked EGR pipe between the intake and the EGR valve.

There are replacements available on line from companies like "The Fiero Store"

Wont go into gear 88 fiero gt?

I had a 88 myself and had the same problem, look down inside the console by the shifter and there is probubly change that has fallen down there. Hope this works for ya

There are a few more things that can be wrong, but the most common seems to be the shifter cables. The 88 GT came with 2 cables, both of which are NOT adjustable (and stretch with time), and no longer available to purchase (stock). As they stretch, they lose effectiveness. You can buy replacements that are adjustable (and come fairly accurately adjusted) from RodneyDickman.com. Good luck. I had no one to get advice from and spent a TON of money having my hearbox torn open twice to replace all the gears and synchros before I finally figured this one out. Don't make the same mistake.

How do you open the front hood of a fiero if both cables aren't working?

Your cables may just be broke, but more likely, if your Fiero has been in a front end collision your hood may have been pushed back toward the windshield. There are two safety locking "pins" one on each side near the windshield that will keep the hood from being pulled up(why thy chose to do this on a hood that couldn't "fly open" I will never know). If you think this is the case with your Fiero you can pull up the headlight covers with the help of a friend(It's not connected to the headlight assembly but is spring loaded), to gain access to some of the hood hinge nuts(just to the inside of the light assembly). There is very little room to work but loosening these may give you enough slack to slide the hood forward and release the tension on the latch or to disengage the hood from the safety pins. Haveing a friend push down on the hood where the latch is while you pull the release cable may also help. Hope this helps.

What is the coil pack placement and firing order on a 1987 Pontiac Fiero 2.5L engine?

How do you remove rear brake pads on a pontiac fiero?

The rear calipers are bolted on, depending on who rebuilt the calipers last either with torx or allen bolts.

Undo both.

The old pads and the caliper may not want to come past the rusty edge of the rotor. To get past this I have used a pry bar if the issue is not to bad or a small grinder disk on the rusty raised edges only.

Once the pads and caliper slide off the inside bad is held by a little wimpy clip system and will probably fall out as soon as the caliper clears the rotor.

The outer pad is more securely retained and will require a little force to pop out.

Screw the piston back into the caliper with the special tool you can buy at any parts or auto tool supplier.

Reinstall is reverse of removal from there.

If headlights on a 1981 Corvette will not go down is it a vacuum problem?

yes because it haveint been used in a long time

Yes.

Yes, most likely. There's a chance that it is something mechanical, but that's a slim chance and only if they have not been used in a LONG time.

If you're not familiar with these problems, I suggest chasing the vacuum lines to listen for a hissing sound either underhood or under dashboard. Remember that the headlight switch actually is an electrical switch AND vacuum valve in-one. Additionally, there is a little black knob (backup vacuum valve) directly under the dashboard in the event that the headlight switch valve doesn't raise the lights. If neither one raises them then you have either a leak or stuck diaphragm. Good luck! -ku2002

You can buy a vacuum troubleshooting guide from Zip Corvette to help you fix the issue.

I fixed it. There are rubber devices called witches hats that go on the vacuum canisters next to the headlights. You can either change the witches hats (quite a job) or just have the vacuum canisters you can get at Ecklers.

Or you can get them at Zip and save some money, here is a link to the headlight components http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/dept.asp?dept_id=887

where is the diaphragm located on my 1981 Corvette?

Transmission fluid for 5 speed manual transmission 88 fiero gt?

The 1988 GM service manual specifies "Syncromesh Tranmission Fluid" GM part number #12345349 for both the Getrag and Isuzu tranmissions. It is available from any GM parts shop and from most general automotive parts stores.

The GM specification No. is 9985648. It is a "Gear Lube - Special" by API standards

Your safe bet is to use a lube that conforms to GM specification No. 9985648. Multiple suppliers make transmissions lubes to this spec: QUAKER STATE®SYNCHROMESH FLUID

PENNZOIL® SYNCHROMESH FLUID

AMSOIL Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid Others transmission lubes may also work just fine. For your application they may be better or worse than a spec 9985648 lube. If you have non standard applications, such as heavy towing or high RPMs you may want to examine:

Red Line D4 ATF; Red Line MTL

Valvoline Durablend ATF

Amsoil ATF

Mobil 1 ATF

Why does 86 fiero 2.8 engine surge from 600rpm to 2000rpm repeatedly?

Most likely a vacuum leak. Check your hoses.

Also Check Throttle position sensor and connector wires, I unplugged the t.p.s and

did not plug it back in, then started it.... surged from around 1000rpm to 2000+rpm repeatedly. check engine light on - code 22.

How do you remove a spark plug nut that is broken in the cylinder. note the actual spark plug itself is out just not the nut and thread around it and you cannot get a spark plug socket on it?

There is a special easy out for this. If it cant be used or the remains of the plug still wont come out then the head will have to be removed and the spark plug removed from the inside.

A machinist may be better suited to do this if you end up having to take your engine apart.
